This is true. All the writers are pretty much twisting what she said and omitting what they want. I can understand how it looks written in an article, but when you hear it from her in the interview she doesn't come across as a bitch. Haters gon' hate.

The song is kinda growing on me. Still don't think it should be the next lead single, it would've fit just fine as an album track.

Jamaica, it's a single you can buy at iTunes and amazon.com, and one that got played on Jimmy Kimmel's show. Whether it's a "radio single," that's another story. :)
Perhaps it will have sales of 25,000-30,000 this week?

Mariah has had a huge diva attitude for years. She is a huge diva. At this point, I'd put her second to Diana Ross. She definitely has a polarizing personality. Nothing new there.

ANYWAY, Mariah is being painted as a spoiled brat and I can kind of see it. She got paid $18 million to do a job for less than half of a year. Most people dislike their jobs but must go daily for much longer periods of time; what's their salary topping off at? For her to say stuff like "I had to go every day" makes her come across incredibly out of touch. People don't wish to hear someone complain about a part of life that everyone puts up with. It's even more cringe when the person complaining is so freakin' fortunate and blessed. Ugh. I hate the attitude that somehow money makes it all better. Just because Mariah got bank doesn't mean it was a situation that was fun to be in. Angie asked Mariah a question, and she answered with her truth. To not do so would have been fake. At least she was being real. Anyway, I am loving this week in Mariah. I like "TAOLG" a lot, I loved the Fallon appearance, I loved the Angie interview, and I loved her speech at Out 100. If people don't 'get' her or appreciate them, it's their loss.

It's not only "just because" she got bank, but because she acted like having to go to a job you don't like EVERY SINGLE DAY (for a short period of time in her case) is something cruel and unusual. For most people it's called every Monday-Friday. But yes, the media outlets are certainly splicing her comments as well and making it sound worse than it was.

I think it is far easier to understand Mariah in her interviews if you are someone who is a fan and pays attention to her in the media to know her ways with the media. I think to the average person who catches her in glimpses of media she comes off as a crazy/b*tchy person. To me, nothing that happens in a Mariah interview surprises me or makes me dislike her actually quite the opposite. She is one of the very few music artists that has a personality and lets it out no matter what. She is someone who can throw shade, a witty comment and a rant all at the same time and make me love her even more.

^We speculated that the label probably doesn't want to tout another first single when there's no firm album release date. It's probably frustrated and may not put as much into a release like it did "#Beautiful."
Speaking of EW, Mimi's also in the Bullseye section. It reads: 'Letting go ain't easy," sings Mariah Carey on her new single, 'The Art of Letting Go.' She should know - she's clinging to 1994 for dear life."
The point was for it to have a throwback feel, so not sure why EW made that comment.

I think it is one of those put it out there and get people talking on top of all the other things Mariah usually has going on at this time of year because of her Christmas music type of deals. I think they will probably have something more radio ready to come out January/February depending on how quickly she finishes those two songs. JD needs to stop ranting about things and just manage things. I find it humorous that he is going to come down on people for being internet illiterate when he can't even form a management statement without spelling and grammatical errors. Mariah needs to put an end to that quickly. He either needs to accept the good and bad of management or not manage her. His rantings within the past two weeks are not conducive to any prosperity with this project. She can't have a manager that is going to rant about all of the negative side of managing things.

I know it's awful of me to say, but I kind of hope JD keeps doing stupid things and it destroys his relationship with Mariah. Get him out of the picture once and for all please!!!

And, really, why bash Mariah at this point? She's a legend. Let's see where Katy Perry, Rihanna, etc. are in 2025. I just think it's weird and even disrespectful to go after someone who has had over 20 years of success in the business. I mean, would they bash Aretha for wanting it to be 1973?

I think it's pretty clear the label did not support the release/promotion of "TAOLG." Mariah and JD went ahead and promoted it a bit anyway, though. In this day and age, it's tougher than ever to determine what is an actual single. "TAOLG" isn't a single in the traditional sense (i.e. no video and not being sent to airplay), but it got more promotion than an album track. What do people consider "Dark Horse" by Katy Perry? It hasn't been promoted in any way except an early iTunes release, but I'd call it a hit as well as it has been selling. If it's never promoted, will it be considered a single?

I said something like this in another post where if he screw her over in anyway then at least we won't have any songs produced by him anymore. I wouldn't mind that !

Then you should understand why working people would not want to hear someone complain about $18 million for something that's so temporary anyway. Appreciate that you're fortunate. I'm not put off by it personally; I've known and loved Mariah long enough where I can laugh along with her. Still, a spade is spade. She's out of touch.

The problem is money has nothing to do with her comments about American Idol. She was asked her opinion on what it was like, and she gave her honest opinion. I mean anyone who watched the show when she was judging could tell the show was very hit or miss for her (definitely more miss), so she can't really fake a response that says it was rainbows and unicorn farts and happy, happy times.

It's weird that EW praised the single and then dissed it in the same article. At the very least, they should be consistent.
The Idol stuff doesn't bother me. Just because you're getting paid a lot of money doesn't mean the work experience is enjoyable or that you have to agree with how things happen behind the scenes. I do hope the show falls in the ratings next year so that Mariah isn't blamed for the ratings this year.

I love that video! I think this should answer any questions about her voice. She is quite good on the fly!
She should do a random studio session of her just singing random made up songs to different music! I would love to see that. Just have some guy or girl playing random piano pieces, and she just sings improv.

"Fly Like A Bird", whispers, melismas, laughs, "The Art Of Letting Go", talking about American Idol, whistles, beltings OMG that was all so random and I love it!

Excuses me I'm a tad drunk tonight, but did I just hear Mariah Carey make up a whole lotta words and motherfucking out sing the young girls of today with ZERO fucks and ZERO effort given!! Holy fuck I'm reminded why I love this woman!! Climb that vocal ladder bitch I even heard a trademark whistle thrown in for fun YAS!

That was so amazing. Her voice was so fluid and beautiful! I wonder if she realizes this is what her fans want. She could tour with just a piano doing stuff like that and her fans would be going insane every night!

Now you see why I hold her to a high standard? I grew up on these vocals I know what she capable of. So don't come on BET and rub your body to backing track or flat out mime when this is the voice god gave you. I'm hard on her cause I love her and know her ability.
