I've been slayed. The f**king runs... I love when she does these improvised performances.. just not when they actually get released as singles..

She's adorable in the video. Loving "The Art of Letting Go." Amazing harmonies and runs.
Also, just stumbled upon this gem that I've never heard before. What kind of flawless vocal... Jesus.

She's not gonna stop until she has a monster hit. She should just do a track that features Rihanna rapping on it.

From her Facebook:
Hi lambs, after everything I've been through this year, I doubt there's anyone more excited for the holidays to begin than I am. I usually try my hardest to wait until after Thanksgiving to celebrate the holiday season but this just made my day and I gotta share.
Today on the street, a group of fans stopped me and started singing "All I Want For Christmas Is You" at the top of their lungs. Amazing. So many people tell me: "The holiday season doesn't start for us until we hear All I Want For Christmas Is You by Mariah." Surreal. I humbly thank them but inside I'm jumping up and down like a second grader on a snow day because I WROTE AND PRODUCED that song on a whim!!! To hear this and to see "All I Want For Christmas Is You" at #1 on this week's Billboard's chart... I kinda still can't believe it!
I'll never forget writing the melody and lyrics in a little studio decorated for Christmas in the middle of the summer. In case you know nothing about me, when I was a little girl, Christmas and music were the happiest moments I had and I never realized that people would grow up listening to and singing along with my songs like I grew up listening to "Jingle Bells" or "Santa Claus Is Comin' To Town"
Then, when I saw "Where Are You Christmas?" by Faith Hill at #2, I almost couldn't believe it because I wrote that song with the incredible Oscar-winning genius James Horner for the movie "The Grinch" a couple of years back. It blows my mind and makes me feel like that second grader on a snow day again!!
After I hugged the group of fans goodbye, they ran down the street, waving and continuing their rendition of "All I Want For Christmas Is You", a song I wrote very tongue-in-cheek, very cookies-and-milk, purely childhood-memories-forever!
I just want to thank everyone for consistently supporting my Christmas music year after year because it is so much more than holiday music for me. It's about joy, nostalgia, and it's about never losing the spirit of Christmas in your heart. Happy (very early) holidays! --MC

Since "Where Are You Christmas" existed as "Christmas, Why Can't I Find You" before Mimi came in, do we know if she wrote all the additional lyrics, of if that was a collaboration? I'd like to hear her perform that song.
TAOLG comes in at No. 90 in the UK.

That impromptu performance was amazing. She seems to have a much better idea of her voice as it is nowdays. Amazing. Her vocals were slightly tuned in post though, that much I hear.

The way she started it with how rough things have been and then spends multiple paragraphs patting herself on the back... I have a feeling a falling out with Island is right around the corner. This is reminding me of some of her voice messages in early 2000.

What I love most about Mariah is that despite being one of the biggest divas ever with all the attitude, success, fortune, fame, #1s etc her lyrics are always relatable without being bland and come from a real place. I will forever be grateful for having heard such songs being sung by the best voice of all time in my opinion and with TAOLG she proves just that yet again and blows everyone away.

I can't say for sure, but I imagine she's the only songwriter to ever have the top two spots on a holiday singles chart. (I'd also be interested to know how often a songwriter held the top two spots on the Hot 100)
Why was "Where Are You Christmas" so high though?

I thought that was already mentioned sometime this year?

Has The Grinch aired yet? "Where Are You, Christmas?" usually is one of the higher-ranked tracks, but sales are pretty low thus far for holiday tracks, so we'll probably see a shuffle in coming weeks. For those who may not have seen the movie or heard it, this is the original (shorter) version , "Christmas, Why Can't I Find You," that appears in the movie. I gather that Mimi was asked to come in and write additional lyrics. (And then, I think the story goes that Tommy M. wouldn't "let" her record it?)

Erm... "Love Takes Time" and "Someday" are not on that poster. She's trying to test the patience of fans of those songs, ain't she? And, note the use of "records" rather than "albums"- I think the Rainbow" poster had that, too?

Yes it is, especially when the single art for "Sweetheart" is there, not to mention "I Still Believe" ("When You Believe," I'll give a pass, as it was a special thing).
