I agree that a new writing partner would be nice to get things moving again. I know Mariah is heavily involved in her work, but Cri$tyle and The-Dream, respectively, had a heavy hand on her last two non-Christmas studio efforts. As for the JD stuff pre-Triumphant, all of the good ones were written with Manuel Seal, and he no longer works with JD.

That is true, Jazzy, about the urban airplay- I was just talking about the Hot 100 panel at the time and the discrepancy between airplay and sales for some hits. "Heartbreaker" did reach No. 9 on the audience-based R&B Airplay chart, so it wasn't all that far off from "Honey's" No. 4 peak. TGIFY made No. 10 on R&B Airplay. Top 40 Tracks was similar to what Hot 100 Airplay was before it became an all-formats chart (sans Mainstream AC and Modern Rock stations). "Heartbreaker" peaked at No. 16 there, while TGIFY topped out at No. 21. The peaks may have been lower with AC and Modern Rock stations in the mix. AIWFCIY currently at No. 88 on iTunes.  "Super Festive" at 1180. The latter version is rather torturous, so no surprise that it would be lagging so behind the original. |

^The Bieber version IS the Super Festive version.  "Extra Festive:" is the one on Merry Christmas II U. None of the Mimi-only versions would be torturous. (I like the orchestral into to the EF version myself). |

Maybe next year we can organize the USA fans on Facebook to do a "Download Day" for ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS YOU. If we plan it to coincide with the airplay peak (which usually reaches 65 million A.I.) and we get streaming going and enough fans to download the song we could give Mariah Carey an early Christmas present and send AIWFCIY to #1 on its 20th Anniversary! I would love for her to write some more songs with Miguel. #Beautiful was a step in the right direction of where she needs to go, but execution was horrible. The problem as I see it is she has such a misguided place of trust. She trusts in the wrong people concerning her career. It is like the minute she has a modicum of success, she rebels against it and those people who put her back in a winning position, and goes back to things that didn't work for her. It is like she is afraid that the people who helped her achieve something are going to come in and start a dictatorship of her music or something.

I agree, mrlevineforme. "#Beautiful" was such a great sound for Mariah, and from the little we've heard about the project, it doesn't seem like any song on the album has a similar sound. It would've been nice if Mariah and Miguel collaborated on another song, but she's pretty stubborn about sticking with Jermaine. I get that they're friends, but most of the songs they've recorded post-TEOM haven't been very good.
If Mariah wants it badly enough, another top ten isn't out of the question. However, the video and performances will have to be on point. I'd love another cute, fun video like "Touch My Body."
