I can't really tell how she sounds on those fan videos, not with the obnoxious screams from the crowd. But it sounds like she sings live in some parts, and then I can also hear a backing track in other parts. I'm sure it'll be edited and dubbed tonight like they did with the American Idol finale. She looks great though.

I wonder how close Merry Christmas is to 6x platinum. I would guess that it was also available in BMG and Columbia House in the 90's. Soundscan has it at a bit over 5.3 million. I don't think it's unrealistic to think it's shipped 6x platinum at this point. It's last certification came 11 years ago. I feel pretty confident it should be 6x Platinum. Of course, we know both Remixes and the GH have sold more than a certification they don't have (Gold for Remixes and 2x Platinum for the GH). Sony clearly has no interested in keeping up with her certs. "AIWFCIY" should be 2x Platinum, too. |

It's so weird to hear her singing completely live on TV.
ETA: I was referring to AIWFCIY. I'm not delusional enough to notice the JTTW album vocals that kick in as soon as the key change occurs. I thought she did it better on her MCIIU ABC Special. Anyway, AIWFCIY was pretty good - on par with Fallon's acapella rendition, and that was three takes (this appeared to be one). Like Coco said, she's making the best of what she has left of her voice, and that's a lot more than she was doing while promoting "Beautiful."

She sounded great! Shes been sounding great for quite a few months now. This album is going to kill it vocally!! She knows that's what people want! She looks great too. She seemed so confident to me.

JTTW was terrific, but AIWFCIY was INCREDIBLE!! Loved the adlibs she did, loved the elongated ending... Mariah killed it! And it was definitely all live.

God musta breathed some 1994 vocal up in that bitch as a thank you for service because honey she fucking turned that mother out! Perfect no but I don't expect perfection. Just honest live vocals and effort! She did great and looked like she was into it and I love me some runs!
She is getting to a place where she knows how to use her voice and accentuate the positives she has still left.

She's getting great press all around. Andy Cohen also mentioned her on Watch What Happens Live, he gave her the 'mazel of the day'. :)
Anyhow, I'm in NYC right now, feels so festive here. I can't believe Mariah performed and I missed it :/
