I don't see how the statements are necessarily contradictory. Someone could think "#B" is better than all of her 00s lead singles but not any of her 90s singles, and it would be both her best recent lead single but not better than her 90s singles.

LOOOOLZ. Your sentence doesn't even make sense on a 3rd grade grammar level, so I'm not sure why you think you are qualified to discuss people's perceived reading comprehension issues. NOW we can all move on. Thanks. :)
I'm glad #beautiful is on Best of Year lists because it is one of the best of the year.

Honestly if they were a little more clever they could have pointed out that I did say Obsessed is more infectious. That's the closest thing I did to "change my opinion", but then I did say arguably. It's all embarrassing really. Silly lamb chops.

Um, you're implying that Miguel is more critically acclaimed than Mariah? I love him, but NO. Um, yes, and it's not even close. Kaleidescope Dream has a metacritic score of 86. Nothing Mariah released received this sort of acclaim. "Daydream" and "Butterfly".

I wasn't being silly...I was just stating my opinion. Sorry if it got blown out of proportion. You can look at my post history and know that I'm not messy. I'm too old for that. So let's move on!

Why don't you take some guesses? I sure will be entertained. Most of us are bored waiting for Mariah to do something about that album.

Honestly if they were a little more clever they could have pointed out that I did say Obsessed is more infectious. That's the closest thing I did to "change my opinion", but then I did say arguably. If I cared enough, I would have quoted your more than twice, but I knew it wasn't worth my time. This is her first time making one of Pitchfork's year-end lists, but it's not like they haven't covered her before. Unfortunately, when they remodeled a few years back, their Forkast and song reviews were discontinued without ever being archived, so a lot that coverage (including singles from TEOM, E, and even your beloved "Obsessed,") was lost. I'm sure having Miguel on her track added intrigue just as it did for many of us, but it's also quite evident that Cusp-Millennial critics—here, the ones simply weeding out everything but the best—appreciate her much more than their predecessors. ETA: Oh heavens, I've been warned for a personal attack.

Oh hon, you cared enough to quote something from I dunno how many weeks ago. (Just checked: it's 6 months ago. LOL). Don't fool yourself. You just couldn't stitch a decent argument. Nothing contradictory in what I said and I still support it, but apparently you couldn't tell that. Actually when I said B is "hardly her best single", I specifically went on to mention some classic #1 hits from the 90s. How does that contradict with the idea that it's her best opening single since the 90s? Not only you didn't make a case, but it actually showed that I'm quite consistent, 6 months on. And even if I wasn't, it's totally childish to think it actually means something. My assessment of B in May was upon the song's release. Surely you expect people to start liking it a little less when the dust starts to settle? I'm done with cleaning ya'll clocks. Moving on. I respectfully disagree with your assessment. There's not a lot of hard evidence we can bring to the table, so we can just agree to disagree about it.

OMG what is happening in this thread? apoleb, I can see how some might think your statement is contradictory, however you meant it. However, after the first few posts about it, I definitely stopped caring. Dunno who your fave is, but from all the barbs flying around I guess it isn't Mimi. Lol. Let's move on.

I don't believe these were posted in the midst of all the bleakocity exhibited in the two previous pages.
Snippets and whatnot from her random trip to Nigeria. She performed many other songs, but these were the best two finds on Youtube.
TAOLG:

Poor quality, but it's apparent her voice is in stellar condition!

That girl on Huffington Post is a very...awkward interviewer.
I don't think Mimi will work with Wally A. again.

She's always so much more confident in these kind of closed performances...it shows in her voice. TAOLG sounded great!
