^Yeah I know it's going to air on Sunday night. That's why I was surprised it was taped today.

So, this is apparently what she said on WWHL about the new album:

AIWFCIY dips 26-27* on the Hot 100, but retains its bullet.
Merry Christmas is up 49-48 on the Billboard 200, without a bullet.
And, yes- I'm still in love with "Christmas Time Is In the Air Again." Just divine.
The AIWFCIY performance sounded good, but, hip movements considered, I'd like to see a more energetic performance from Mimi. Yes, she's not a dancer or anything, but she should not be stiff during such a bouncy, energetic track (even in past performances). Work it some, gurl.

Great performances from her. I liked the AIWFCIY performance, but I kind of wish she had done it solo because I don't know if his mic had issues but there were times when I could barely hear Michael. CTIITAA was nice too especially the second half of it.

Ok that's cool and all, but she was on Watch What Happens live today and this happened: The class. The drag. I cannot. :'( How do you know she did WWHL yesterday?

And, yes- I'm still in love with "Christmas Time Is In the Air Again." Just divine. It really is, and I actually wish she and Buble would have done a duet of that because it fits his style of singing more. It might have gotten the song more attention, too. It's just as good as "AIWFCIY," just in a different genre. I actually thought she was pretty energetic, and I like how she looked to Buble a lot. Her ad-libs when singing behind him gave me life. I wonder what was edited out when she started talking during the intro; there was an obvious edit there. While the duet was killer overall, I did NOT like the backing vocals during the intro. They sounded off. Mariah looked like an all-city linebacker in that dress. Why the hell did the audience sit all through the duet? It was too good to just sit there.

Yeah, that second dress was not flattering at all. I was like why does she look so much wider than she did than her first performance. What a difference clothing choices can make!

Yeah, I also thought she was pretty energetic in her performance of AIWFCIY. I mean, it wasn't as energetic as the amazing one she did for Disney back in '04, but she was beaming with Buble the whole time. Yeah, there was an edit when they were both talking to each other in the beginning. It could've been because of timing, cause they he had another edit moment later on on the show. The 2nd performance dress was indeed hideous. She went from looking drop dead gorgeous and sexy to drop dead...wtf. Voice wise, she did an amazing job with both songs and thats all I cared for.

Maybe he was a bit nervous.

Yah, she was beaming, but that doesn't mean it was energetic. It's a song that demands bounce, movement, etc. I agree that maybe she and Buble should have dueted on CITTAA- but, because he covered AIWFCIY, that's probably why they went with that one.

Of course I know why they went with "AIWFCIY," I am just saying I think they would have worked better on "CTIITAA."
Anyway, Mariah doesn't really dance/move, particularly the past few years. It is what it is, so no point in expecting or hoping for different. The vocals were great, and she and Buble had decent chemistry. I'm not going to ask for more than that.

Wait.... Watch What Happens Live is Live... How would people call in and ask questions for her specifically then?

Good, this interview doesn't sound like the typical sound bites we get from her!

I enjoyed both of Mariah's performances on the special last night. I'm not sure how much of it was dubbed & edited since it was pre-taped, but they were great nontheless. I actually enjoyed the entire show, even Mary J Blige.

I like Michael Buble's version of AIWFCIY, but, after hearing the song last night, he should've gone with the jazzy/live band sound that they created last night.
They sounded quite good together. I'd like to see them work together again.

Well you still may get the shade from her. I hardly doubt what was said is the full context of the interview. Mariah should offer lessons in shade because she is the master at throwing it and still looking like a class act.

I figured she was never on board with those second singles. Eh, I don't buy it. Mariah chose "Boy" as a single, she pushed for "Triumphant" to be released, and she released "TAOLG" without label support. It's not like she has the best taste in singles. I also don't believe that, at this point in her career, Mariah just cedes control of something to a record label. At a minimum she was involved in the choice of singles. It's possible she was the driving force.

It's possible she was the driving force. I agree. She's pushed for some terrible single choices herself (add "Can't Take That Away" to the list above). I remember her also talking about "Through The Rain" a few years after it was released and she sounded like she wasn't fully on board with that song (but that Lyor Cohen wanted "Hero" retread). I think it's easier to say she was completely against these decisions in hindsight. "Say Somethin'" is a good example of a single choice she was against and it was really obvious. She didn't talk about it in interviews, didn't perform it live, kept pushing for other choices..

I think it is easy to discern though which ones Mariah likes and dislikes from how she discusses the songs. Like you said, her hate for "Say Somethin'" was quite obvious. I can agree to an extent with her on IWTKWLI and see her not initially choosing that song. I think it made a great international single. "Bye Bye" is hard to tell who would be responsible for that one. I can see Mariah going for that, but I can also see an executive saying choose a ballad for Christmas sales. I think she really wanted Migrate as a single. Mariah typically doesn't perform songs unless she has some design on making them a single. I mean she performed it on SNL, so I think that was her attempt at trying to get the record powers that be on board with it. Personally, she should have released "For the Record" if she was going to go for a ballad on E=MC^2. "Angels Cry" should have followed "Obsessed" that or "Ribbon" or "Standing O". She and her team have lost the ability of having a stream of reliable singles ready to go.

I for one am glad L.A. Reid/the label released "Say Somethin,' as it's only one of my favorite Mimi singles from 1999-on. And she looked great in the video, especially in the limo/outdoor shots. When the viudeo was released, didn't she say it should win some awards? (which, alas, it didn't). I think she liked how it turned out, looks-wise.
