Just because a song is #1 doesn't guarantee it a high placing on the Year-End charts. If this craze was to free-fall to nothing so will his position. But, it has had a massive point-lead over "Thrift Shop," the biggest song of the year thus far, for the past three weeks. Even if it fell to absolutely nothing in the next month (which isn't going to happen, it will fall a lot, but it will find a niche and linger there for a while), it would still place within the top 40 in the year-end chart without a doubt.

Songs get placed based on chart points, not by position.
It is theoretically possible for a song to chart for 1 week and then disappear and still finish #1 for the year. (Not that it is likely but it is possible)
If the points were so massive that it just overran everyone for that week, like week 1 of Harlem Shake for example

Candle In The Wind 1997 would have been another such example for week 1

Harlem Shake is song of the year and it'll have only been on the chart a few weeks out of the year.

Candle In The Wind 1997 would have been another such example for week 1 Every so so often I like to browse past issues of Billboard online. The October 11th, 1997 issue had "Candle In The Wind 1997" debuting at #1 with nearly 3.5M sales. According to the Billboard columnist, it was the #4 song of the year after just one week. 1997 was one of those years in which the #1 song of the year was never in doubt.

99 0 New 1 Levitate, Hadouken! 99 I think it's pretty awesome that Hadouken! are getting their first chart hit here, as, honestly, I never thought they'd scrape the Hot 100. However, now that 2m has kindly posted the component charts (thanks much for that, 2m!), I'm seeing that the only one this track graces is the streaming chart; no entry for it on the YouTube, sales, or airplay charts. My question: anyone know what is driving the strong streaming for this song? As far as I know, their following in the U.S. could be described as cult at best. Is the track getting some kind of promotion?

My question: anyone know what is driving the strong streaming for this song? As far as I know, their following in the U.S. could be described as cult at best. Is the track getting some kind of promotion? This is from Billboard's chart alert: Hadouken!: "Levitate" debuts on Streaming Songs at No. 36 with 1.2 million U.S. streams (up 92%), a decisive factor in the song's No. 99 debut on the Hot 100. 92% of its Hot 100 activity, in fact, is being driven by streams. The song's popularity on YouTube is fueled by a video created by using clips of people performing extreme athletic feats, entitled "People Are Awesome 2013," which features "Levitate" as background audio. The video has drawn 30 million global YouTube views.
