Any guesses on the next few #1s? IMO, Tim is next, 3-4 weeks. MG will be for 2 weeks. Toby will not! Kenny Chesney will be the next one after Tim, hopefully for 2-4 weeks. I'm thinking Keith Urban could be the one after Kenny, as I think his song will debut inside the top 40 on Billboard. I'm not sure that AJ or RF's songs, despite their high debuts, will be #1 material. Will Gretchen return? So to recap: 6-23 Montgomery Gentry 6-30 MG 7-07 Tim McGraw 7-14 TM 7-21 TM 7-28 Kenny Chesney 8-04 KC 8-11 KC or Keith Urban

I'd really like to see Sara Evans "Suds in the Bucket" make it this summer. It doesn't seem to be rising quickly, but at least steadily. Maybe by September...

Sounds like a reasonable set of predictions. I'm just relieved that Buffet's song has slowed down a whole lot from the torrid rise it enjoyed during it's early weeks on the charts. I'm not a fan of the gimmicky nature of it.
I also will not be cryin' into my beer if Toby fails to reach #1.

Those predictions look good, except that I think Tim is more likely to have 5-7 weeks at #1. No real candidates for the next female #1 just yet (I think Martina & Terri will get stuck behind Tim & Kenny - bit I'm pulling for them).

Sigh, Toby gained enough this weekend and MG lost enuf to drop 1-3, Toby #1 >:( Tim is #2. Hopefully Timmy will gain enuf to take #1 by the cutoff for the week's chart. Mike

I hope so, too. Toby has had enough #1s for a while.

#1 song, Whiskey Girl.
It's like people don't even really listen to the music anymore. They see a name and play it. I don't hate Toby, but some of his songs are so overrated, and this one tops the list. It kind of offends me as woman, but mainly it offends my ears!
Hurry, Tim!

As of this afternoon's update, Toby gained 300, Tim 297, so he's like 311 ahead of Tim. I agree HURRY UP TIMMY!!!!! Or Kenny or someone else, anyone else. Sigh, Toby gained enough this weekend and MG lost enuf to drop 1-3, Toby #1 >:( Tim is #2. Hopefully Timmy will gain enuf to take #1 by the cutoff for the week's chart. Mike

Too bad. The cutoff was last night on the last update so Toby got it. Atleast I think thats the cutoff...I don't like this song either. Doesn' t deserve #1.

Toby is Number 1 on the Billboard Country chart but Tim McGraw passes him on the Billboard Hot 100.

Hot 100 is based on audience impressions Toby is Number 1 on the Billboard Country chart but Tim McGraw passes him on the Billboard Hot 100.

I didn't know the difference, so I appreciated the explanation on how one could be number one on one Billboard chart and not the other. Thanks.

I find this late Keith vs McGraw debate interesting, especially since McGraw's songs also always running to the top, even when they aren't the best ones.

I believe most are cheering on McGraw in this case because his song is better liked than Keith's. History has nothing to do with it for me. If Keith puts out a song I like (which hasn't been since Beer For My Horses) then I will celebrate it going to the top. Until then, I will hope a better song beats it out.

McGraw's voice is a little more distinctive than Keith's, that's why some PMs see the name "Tim" and automatically put it to spin. Toby is only hot when he's being controversial.

What about "Whiskey Lullaby"? Doesn't that have a chance of getting #1?

Honestly, I'm thinking #2 or 3 at best for them. It's a great song, took a big leap this week I saw. But I think Tim and Kenny will plug up the top 2 for about 6-8 weeks between the 2, and by then, there will be a lot of competition from Alan, Keith Urban or Rascall Flatts, or possibly even Gretchen's new song. What about "Whiskey Lullaby"? Doesn't that have a chance of getting #1?

OK, I'm guessing Kenny might not have enuf gas to pass Tim. Tim is like 600 spins ahead, but Kenny should have a 4-6 week run at #2 behind TM, which sucks. I see Jimmy Buffett and friends are now way inside the top 10, at 7 if you organize by spins.
Terri Clark might have a squeeking chance at making a #1 before the big guns of AJ, KU, and GS move in. I'm thinking AJ and KU will be battling for #1 about the same time, and then George will come in w/ his 25 year singing history behind him. I really like his song though....it describes me pretty well right now. I think Gretchen will be shut out from #1 as well as RF. Let me know what you think.

Could Reba pass Kenny at #2? :o Wishful thinking, maybe? I think she can. I am very worried tho, because Urban, Jackson, Wilson, and Strait are just flying. If she can get about 2 more weeks in, I think by next Wednesday, given she keeps the same gaining rate, she will past Kenny. Now Tim is another story. I don't see that single being done for another 3-4 weeks. Hang In There, Reba!

Well she's gaining more than anyone except Urban and Strait. And Kenny's gains have gotten incredibly soft. If Reba keeps hers up for two weeks I think she can sneak past him before Urban overtakes her.

Not next week, as she is gaining about 200 more a week, but she is 500 behind him. Keep in mind, her song has been on the charts over 6 mo, it's running on fumes lol I think she can. It's a really tough call, but here is: 8/25 TM 9/1 KU 9/8 KU 9/15 GW or AJ 9/22 AJ or GS 9/22 GS 9/29 TK 10/6 Joe Nichols (now that is a wild guess and long shot, but I don't see anything else coming up soon!) Thoughts? So where do u stand? Were u right? Any new forecasts?

I doubt Joe Nichols will go to #1. Probably more likely to be Rascal Flatts.
