How do you rank "White Walls" against the other M&RL singles? At first I was meh when it was announced but listening to it lately I'm really loving it!

I rank it last. The other three singles have all spent at least 4 weeks at #1 though ("SL" 4, "TS" 8, "CHU" 11). I like the song, but compared to their other singles so far, it's nothing special.

9/7/13: As expected, Lorde knocks off Pepper after 4 weeks on top for "f**k Around (All Night)". Several strong debuts are led by Family of the Year's "St. Croix", which could surpass the #32 peak of "Hero" as soon as next week. Smallpools are bumped out of the top 50 (with a bullet) after just 1 week; if it doesn't get back, it would be the first track since Muse's "Survival" in August 2012 to spend a single week on the chart.

Ellie Goulding makes history on my chart as the first artist to chart with a straight cover of a song while the original version is still charting itself -- and in this case, the debuts were only separated by 2 weeks! The closest anyone had come before was in 2011, when Wiz Khalifa's #1 hit "Black and Yellow" was joined by: (a) for quite a few overlapping weeks, Girl Talk's "Triple Double" (a song that would also hit #1 on my chart, which samples a verse and chorus of "B&Y"); (b) a minor hit from J.Reyez called "'Cuz I'm Yellow", an "Asian version" of the song; and (c) for 1 week, a below-top-50 charter called "Blue and Green", a tribute to the Seattle Seahawks after their playoff upset of the New Orleans Saints. Anyway, the current feat could blossom into something I would have never imagined. I can see both versions making the top 20 simultaneously, or even the top 10. We'll see how high both of them go before they start to cannibalize one another.

Very diverse chart genre-wise! I recognised quite a lot of the bands there (thanks to my friends). Some amazing songs and really like the 1975 love.

Baby, Lorde rules the chart and we ain’t just f**king around a fantasy. A good top 10 with the highlights of There’s NO Going back entering, my addiction White Walls & the sound of Hurricane. I’m rooting for Elephant, Wake Me UP, & My Number. I must comment that it’s good to see Get Lucky & Blurred Lines on here despite their peaks. The greater peak went to Get Lucky. Glad to see She Makes ME Warm, Counting Stars & Diane Young on here. Like the Em & Blue October debuts. Must hear that Ellie cover. Liking the variety around this awesome chart.
