Jesus I don't even remember the last time I heard "Take A Bow" by Rihanna played on the radio. Talk about a forgettable #1. In fact, when I first saw it I mistook it as a year typo for Madonna's song, and then I realized that Rihanna had a song with the same name. I actually had to sit here for a minute to even remember how Rihanna's song went. That must have gone to #1 for that one week on sales alone right?

I remember hearing Take a Bow all the time on the radio. Back then I thought it was a Beyoncé song

Hopefully Mariah could enter top 20 on Hot 100, #10 Digital songs with 114k is a bit lower than my expectation

well the article is probably being proofread, and has found to be full of mistakes. That's why it's late.

A Billboard article proofread? Lol, puh-lease. It'll probably say something like Mariah Carey scored her first top 20 hit ten years ago or something that's so obviously wrong, it's painful.

From Paul Grein's Chart Watch: “Can’t Hold Us” by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis featuring Ray Dalton holds at #1 for the third week on Hot Digital Songs (241K). Will it also hold at #1 for the second week on the Hot 100? And how high will “#Beautiful” by Mariah Carey featuring Miguel debut? (It enters Hot Digital Songs at #10 with sales of 114K). You’ll find out later today when we post Chart Watch: Songs. LOL @ Billboard.com posting articles about Kelly Rowland and Musiq Soulchild while Paul Grein is posting the info that people are actually thirsty for. I don't think "Take A Bow" was No. 1 on Hot 100 Airplay the week it was No. 1 on the Hot 100, but it was definitely the Airplay No. 1 at some point.

“Take a Bow” is like the worst Rihanna single ever.
--
Really bad opening numbers for Mariah considering the huge exposure. Her first single in four years, supported by a major radio deal, with a music video premiere on American Idol during the release week. Should have done 150k at least.

"Take a Bow" spent six weeks at #1 on Hot 100 Airplay in between "Lollipop" and "Forever." It spent two weeks at #1 on Hot Digital Songs in between "Bleeding Love" and "The Time of My Life." It was number one on the Hot 100 the week it debuted at #1 on Hot Digital Songs with 267k.
I wonder how it would've fared on streaming. Probably would've done well, just not #1 because of "Bleeding Love," "Lollipop," and "Forever" all out at relatively the same time.

I can't deny I'm disappointed by these numbers...but first single in four years? just because the likes of "Oh Santa!", "Triumphant", and "Almost Home" were mega-flops doesn't mean they weren't singles. they were all released as singles on iTunes, had official music videos, and were sent to at least one radio format. I'm sure someone has this info - how much did "Obsessed" open with? and at what position on Hot Digital Songs?

I absolutely loved "Take A Bow". It's still one of my favorite Rihanna singles, actually.

This is her first proper lead single in four years and it was promoted as such. "Obsessed" sold almost 119k. The digital market has grown a lot since and it wasn't nearly as radio-friendly as "#Beautiful."

How was "Obsessed" any less radio-friendly than this new single?

"Obsessed" was more urban-oriented.
"#Beautiful" is radio candy.

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis 'Hold' Atop Hot 100, Selena Gomez 'Get's First Top 10Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' "Can't Hold Us," featuring Ray Dalton, logs a second week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, Selena Gomez scores her first top 10 with "Come & Get It" and Mariah Carey debuts at No. 24 with "#Beautiful," featuring Miguel. "Hold" logs a third week atop the Hot Digital Songs chart, decreasing by 8% to 241,000 downloads sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan. It leads the subscription services-based On-Demand Songs survey for a fourth frame and slips 2-3 on Streaming Songs, drawing 5.9 million streams (down 3%), according to Nielsen BDS. It rises 5-4, however, on Hot 100 Airplay (121 million all-format audience impressions, up 9%, according to BDS). "Hold" racks a fourth week at No. 1 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Rap Songs charts. P!nk's former three-week Hot 100 No. 1 "Just Give Me a Reason," featuring fun.'s Nate Ruess, spends a second week at No. 2 and adds a new honor: it lifts 2-1 on Hot 100 Airplay (136 million, up less than 1%) to become her third leader on the list. She previously ruled Hot 100 Airplay for three weeks last fall with "Blow Me (One Last Kiss)" and for six frames in 2001 with "Lady Marmalade," with Christina Aguilera, Lil' Kim and Mya. "Reason" keeps at No. 2 on Hot Digital Songs after leading for four weeks (230,000, down 10%) and drops 6-7 on Streaming Songs (3.9 million, down 4%). Justin Timberlake's "Mirrors" (5-3) is the Hot 100's top Airplay Gainer for a fourth consecutive week, marking his longest streak of winning the award. He'd linked three straight weeks of earning the honor in October 2006 with "My Love," featuring T.I. "Mirrors" moves 3-2 on Hot 100 Airplay (131 million, up 10%), while remaining at No. 3 on Hot Digital Songs (168,000, down 5%). It rebounds 11-10 on Streaming Songs (3.7 million, up 3%). Bruno Mars' former No. 1 "When I Was Your Man" reverses course (5-4) on the Hot 100 and passes 3 million in sales since its release, becoming his sixth title to reach the milestone. Rihanna's "Stay," featuring Mikky Ekko, rounds out the Hot 100 top five (4-5). Selena Gomez soars to her first Hot 100 top 10, as "Come & Get It" blasts 14-6 with the chart's top Streaming Gainer nod. It rockets 36-4 on Streaming Songs (5.7 million, up 264%) following the premiere of its video on May 7. The song also jumps 9-6 on Hot Digital Songs (143,000, up 24%) and 35-24 on Hot 100 Airplay (43 million, up 13%). It becomes her first top 10 on the Mainstream Top 40 radio airplay chart (15-10). Gomez garners her first hot 100 top 10 after 11 prior appearances (10 with her backing band the Scene and one as part of an all-star collaboration) dating to her first in 2009. She'd risen as high as No. 20 with "Send It On," billed to Disney's Friends for Change (Gomez, Miley Cyrus, Jonas Brothers and Demi Lovato) in 2009, while climbing to No. 21 with "Who Says" in 2011 and No. 22 with "Love You Like a Love Song" last year. "Get" previews Gomez's first album on her own, "Stars Dance." Her Stars Dance Tour kicks off with a Canadian leg on Aug. 14 in Vancouver; heads to Europe on Aug. 30; and comes stateside on Oct. 10 for U.S. dates through Nov. 27. Macklemore & Lewis' former six-week No. 1 "Thrift Shop," featuring Wanz, descends 6-7 on the Hot 100 and passes 6 million in release to date download sales. It's just the 20th song to crack 3 million downloads sold since SoundScan began tracking digital sales approximately 10 years ago. Imagine Dragons' "Radioactive" holds at No. 8 on the Hot 100 (after reaching No. 7 six weeks ago) and dominates Hot Rock Songs for an eighth week. It pushes 8-6 on Streaming Songs (4.2 million, up 8%) and 52-41 on Hot 100 Airplay (32 million, up 19%). Icona Pop's debut hit "I Love It," featuring Charli XCX, dips 7-9 on the Hot 100, although it rises 10-8 on Hot 100 Airplay (70 million, up 13%) and bullets at No. 21 on Streaming Songs (2.5 million, up 5%). Florida Georgia Line's "Cruise" navigates 9-10 on the Hot 100, charting a 26-15 course on Hot 100 Airplay (48 million, up 13%). With 151,000 downloads sold, it passes 3 million in sales to date. The Hot 100's highest debut belongs to Mariah Carey's "#Beautiful," featuring Miguel, which begins at No. 24. The track launched on Hot 100 Airplay at No. 44 last week with 31 million impressions after just two days of airplay, aided heavily on its first day (May 6) by coordinated airplay on Clear Channel Media and Entertainment stations. This week, with that hefty first day of spins now in the previous tracking period, "#Beautiful" maintains its No. 44 Hot 100 Airplay rank and 31 million in audience (up less than 1%). Following its first full week of sales, it enters Hot Digital Songs at No. 10 (114,000), marking her eighth top 10 on the tally and first since "Obsessed" reached No. 6 in 2009. "#Beautiful" falls shy of the Streaming Songs chart with 461,000 first-week streams. The lead single from Carey's forthcoming 13th studio album charges 32-7 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and 16-2 on R&B Songs and debuts at No. 1 on R&B Digital Songs. Check Billboard.biz tomorrow (May 16), when all rankings, including the Hot 100, Hot Digital Songs, Hot 100 Airplay, Streaming Songs and On-Demand Songs will be refreshed, as they are each Thursday. www.billboard.com/biz/articles/news/chart-alert/1562284/macklemore-ryan-lewis-hold-atop-hot-100-selena-gomez-gets

Hopefully she manages to stay top 10 next week. Sales are steady, airplay keeps growing but not super fast, but streaming will obviously fall a bit. She should manage it, but you never know.
Also, hopefully "Treasure" makes top 10 before "When I Was Your Man" falls out so Bruno keeps his streak going.

Yes, Streaming Songs combines everything from Spotify to YouTube. The video was released way too early, IMO, so it didn't earn the big first week views that it otherwise would've gotten if they had waited a few weeks to build up hype for the video. As for the other streaming sites, it got pretty much what I'd expect. It takes a while for even hyped releases to gain a lot of traction on streaming.

Really bad opening numbers for Mariah considering the huge exposure. Her first single in four years, supported by a major radio deal, with a music video premiere on American Idol during the release week. Should have done 150k at least. What's bad is the haters staying perched in her threads to point these silly things out. Like Mariah has always been a strong digital seller and is at her commercial peak. Miss me with that. The fact that she's still doing this 23 years into her career is already an accomplishment per se. She doesn't need to prove anything anymore, especially not to her haters and the naysayers. Her resumé already speaks volumes, this is just adding to the already long list.

Thanks, josh. So, onto predictions for the Mimi Carey/Miguel track... is 125,000 a reasonable sales estimate, or will it be lower given the drop-off over the weekend? In BDS airplay, it looks like it may finish the week with ~35m. And then there's Streaming... perhaps top 30-top 40? Do we think a top 20 entry is guaranteed, or is it possible it could come in between 21-30? My guess is around #17-25, with a fall to #30-40 the following week if sales don't pick up. Diva debuts#23 - Not Myself Tonight #24 - #Beautiful #27 - Dance Again #29 - Run The World I wonder if it will follow in the tracks of NMT and RTW and plummet off the charts in 5 weeks, or if it climb a few spots after growing in airplay/being performed on Idol, like Dance Again (which went on to peak at #17). My guess is the latter, since it's still doing good in airplay. Although NMT was too, so you never know.
Selena! :o It's a shame that Come & Get It, while a good song, is getting all this success instead of Naturally, Love You Like a Love Song or Who Says. What's bad is the haters staying perched in her threads to point these silly things out. Although the title may be misleading, this isn't "her thread". This is the general H100 thread, where people discuss chart facts and trends in the week of 05/25/2013. :)

That's actually one of my favourite Rihanna #1s, and I remember it very well. It's one of those songs that everybody seems to play when there's a piano about lol. This is Europe though, maybe it wasn't so popular over in the US. So happy for Can't Hold Us being #1!!! Such an amazing song. And I hope Mirrors can get there too. And great debut for Mariah.

Nice debut for Mimi, at least it's top 40.
Wow at "Come & Get It" :o it's also top 10 on Pop Songs blocking "22" which was #10 on Mediabase lol
I think "Can't Hold Us" could spend 3-4 more weeks at #1, "Mirrors" is not strong enough to dethrone it.
"Just Give Me A Reason" #1 on Radio Songs! :o Yay! :)
