^^ I don't feel like she's exactly having a "comeback" this time. Memoirs underperformed, compared with her own track record, but that's all. All she needs to do is release something great and universal, and people respond.

People started to count her out again.

Mariah just passed Ariana Grande. :o Original beats substitute! Wow, an established, huge pop star with a Clear Channel deal, pushed to pop, HAC, AC, rhythmic, and urban (and urban AC? not positive about this one) is doing better than an artist on her debut single only pushed to half of those formats? Shocking.

Mariah is about to fall below Ariana Grande on iTunes. Guess the original doesn't beat the substitute after all even with CC promo :'(

"Live it Up" didn't even attain half of the first-day audience of Mimi's single, though (it did reach top 20). It doesn't hurt that Mimi/Miguel track is stronger than the Lopez/Pitbull one.
Will be interesting to see radio play for Mimi's single after the first-week hype dies down. Single currently at No. 14 on iTunes.

Mariah had a green update for gaining 0.02, Ariana had a red update for losing 0.02 Hardly a trend, they're both pretty stabile right now, but Mariah's freefalling up until now makes me think that it'll fall below Ariana in a day or two.

Shocking. It's actually harder for Mariah with 24 years of career, she's too old for pop radio while this Ariana Grande chick is new, her first single, etc. It's a miracle Mariah is still making buzz or are you going to tell me so many artists from 1990 are still relevant today? Wilson Phillips, Roxette, Vanilla Ice, Phil Collins, MC Hammer, Sinead O'Connor, Paula Abdul, George Michael hell, even Janet Jackson! these are artists that were HUGE at the time, the only relevant pop artists in music right now from that era are 2: Madonna (and Madonna latest pop radio hit was in 2008) and Mariah Carey. One thing I'd like to see is if Ariana will be a little bit relevant in 2037, we'll have to wait.

We're talking about the two songs, not their overall careers. 1990, 2013, 2035 same deal honey...but regardless my eyes tell me on the 5/25/2013 Mimi is still ahead even though the other song came out before...all im saying is that comparing these two is not smart. Ironic thing is only one song is living in the past and it ain't the aging diva one.

Being released earlier isn't really an advantage on iTunes. Either way I just checked Kworb and the substitute does in fact beat the original. - 14 Ariana Grande - The Way (feat. Mac Miller) 0.3612
- 15 Mariah Carey - #Beautiful (feat. Miguel) 0.3534
Plus it was a Mariah stan who brought up the comparison, not me. Just figured I'd mention that he's wrong.
