No surprise, Gretchen Wilson garners the most.
So happy to see Reba back in the Female Vocalist category.

I expect Kenny Chesney to win Entertainer of the Year. He really steeped into the elite group of artists this year, and is becoming known for his live shows.
Gretchen will probably take the Horison Award and Top female awards.
"Whiskey Lullaby" and "Live Like You Were Dying" should battle for song and single of the year.
Too bad the awards weren't being held two weeks earlier. Be nice to get a liitle love for Bush before the election. ;)

I wonder why Brad isn't up for Male Vocalist. If Toby Keith is, then he definitly should be. Good to see Brad's album is up for album of the year though. I know it dosen't have a chance but at least it is recognized. Maybe Reba or Terri's group will get busy and start sending gifts and money to the voters so they can win the female. It works to get singles to number one so why not. It looks as if Gretchen will have the horizon won easily. Rascal Flatts should get group with Lonestar being farily quiet. Duo actually has a decent group this year with Montgomery Gentry winning after having their first number one this year. Single will be extremely tuff but I think Gretchen will win. Toby gets album. Live Like You Were Dying gets song. Whiskey Lullaby gets vocal event and video. Entertainer will go to Chesney unless Reba buys her way in(lol).

Surpise Surpise.. NOT!! These awards are such a joke!! OH and by the way, for all you "Shania-has-no-class" individuals, no nominations for the past 2 years and yet she is performing AGAIN and HOSTING!!!Brooks & Dunn will host the 2004 CMA Awards with a variety of special guests including Shania Twain.

I think this will be Terri Clark's breakthrough. I could see her snagging Female Vocalist. I just don't think they'll award Martina for a fourth time.

I honestly think that Sara has a great shot at this, especially if "Suds" goes top 5 or #1.

I honestly think that Sara has a great shot at this, especially if "Suds" goes top 5 or #1. Yep, she deserves it. The rest of the noms are a joke. There are more songs than Remember When, I Love This Bar, Redneck Woman and Whiskey Lullaby.

I can't believe "I Love This Bar" for song, single, and vid.
Oh wait, yes I can.
I also can't believe no Tim for male vocalist or Shania for female. Again with the politics.
Seriously, I love George Strait and Alabama but in both cases, nothing they've done has exactly shaken the music world in the last year. And Julie Roberts for Horizon? One single. That's just now breaking the top 20. How about Mindy Smith or Buddy Jewell in that slot?
That said, I would really like to see Keith and Sara take these awards this year.
I love that B&D is hosting... it should be fun. That said, GO MONTGOMERY GENTRY!
I wish Sara's 'Restless' had gotten an album nod, but how can she expect to compete with Toby & Kenny? I am so tired of women being shut out. If not for Gretchen's stuff, it would have happened again. What about the videos for 'Suds in the Bucket' or 'Somebody' or for the love of God, 'When You Kiss Me?' These are much more original and pleasant to watch that Toby's bar bandits. ARG.

Surpise Surpise.. NOT!! These awards are such a joke!! OH and by the way, for all you "Shania-has-no-class" individuals, no nominations for the past 2 years and yet she is performing AGAIN and HOSTING!!!Brooks & Dunn will host the 2004 CMA Awards with a variety of special guests including Shania Twain.I agree completely. It is political garbage. I knew Shania was going to be shut out. It happens every year...and, of course, every year they ask her to perform. 9 times out of 10 she says yes. Shania has just 9 CMA nominations for her career. Many other artists get 7 or 8 nominations in one night for just 1 or 2 singles. Get real. This is a joke. Shaniagotchagood, don't you just love how they snub Shania out of the nominations and in the same breath they are proudly announcing that Shania will be at the show? >:( They even made the effort to list some of her career achievements in the performance announcement. Twain was named CMA Entertainer of the Year in 1999. Her most recent album 'Up!' has earned Diamond (10X Platinum) album sales certification by the Recording Industry Association of America. In fact, she is the only artist in history to have three consecutive 10x Platinum certified albums with 'The Woman In Me' (12X Platinum) and 'Come On Over' (19X Platinum) rounding out the list.www.prnewswire.com/cgi-bin/stories.pl?ACCT=109&STORY=/www/story/08-30-2004/0002240552&EDATE=Such a shame they couldn't make the effort to check off her name as a nominee for Female Vocalist, or more importantly Entertainer of the Year. I suppose that would be too much to ask.

Those bast***s use her name and fame for the ratings but can't acknowledge her achievements. Like I said, it takes class to help those who don't give a damn about you.

You guys act like Shania gets nothing out of appearing on the CMAs. It's awesome exposure for her GH album that's coming out that very same week. She'd be stupid not to appear.

Thrilled to see Reba up again. A win would be a longshot (I'm betting on either Terri or Sara), but it's awesome to see Reba nominated.

The promo for the GH and its debut single will be outstanding! But it's the matter of the fact, whether it be Shania or anybody else, the nerve to ask her/them to be on your show..

I think this will be Terri Clark's breakthrough. I could see her snagging Female Vocalist. I just don't think they'll award Martina for a fourth time. I am not sure they'll give it to Martina again either. Even though Terri doesn't sell, she has been pushed by Mercury for sure, now looking at the payola for the single, I'd expect they will sure push her for the award too. But I am not sure that's enough. Sara has been overlooked a lot of times too, maybe it's her turn? Or Reba if they feel like giving the award to her as a thanks for a long career? Chesney has not been showering with awards, can you guys who think he might get the Entertainer explain to me why you think so? :) Looks like females are shut out of the EOTY, Martina who was touring with Alan didn't get a nod, but Alan did? And Shania had the most successful tour, yea? I guess females don't count, lol. You guys don't think Gretchen gets single/song? For sure she gets Horizon, but no album or either of the single/song awards? Tim might get one of those, I guess. Maybe Whiskey Lullaby will get the Musical Event? Toby might get album? But who gets Male artist?

Reba now not only holds the record for most wins in the Female Vocalist category, but also holds the record for most nominations with 13. She was previously in a four-way tie with Loretta Lynn, Emmylou Harris and Dolly Parton who have 12 each.

Entertainer of the Year Kenny Chesney
Female Vocalist of the Year Reba McEntire
Male Vocalist of the Year Kenny Chesney
Horizon Award Gretchen Wilson
Vocal Group of the Year Rascal Flatts
Vocal Duo of the Year Montgomery Gentry
I thought Brooks & Dunn's "Red Dirt Road" CD was terrible. Their new single "That's What It All About" isn't that great either. When they performed it at the ACM's I hated it, but now I think it is so-so. Montgomery Gentry's singles have been better.

As of recently, they hardly ever give someone Male Vocalist and Entertainer of the Year. Since Tim is the biggest thing in country music right now, and probably of the last few years, I pick him for Entertainer and is mini-me for Male Vocalist.

ADDITIONAL PERFORMERS ANNOUNCED FOR 2004 CMA AWARDS Jimmy Buffett And Friends; Patty Loveless With Alan Jackson; Terri Clark; Montgomery Gentry; And Award Presenters Announced NASHVILLE – “Country Music’s Biggest Night™” is living up to its reputation with the announcement of standout artists performing on “The 38th Annual CMA Awards” live on the CBS Television Network Tuesday, Nov. 9 (8:00-11:00 PM/ET) from the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville. CMA also announced an impressive list of presenters appearing on the broadcast. “We have all the ingredients for an amazing show,” said CMA Executive Director Ed Benson. “This is one CMA Awards Country Music enthusiasts will not want to miss.” Jimmy Buffett and Alan Jackson kicked off the 2003 CMA Awards with “It’s Five O’Clock Somewhere” and Margaritaville’s favorite son is back in 2004 with a star-packed performance of his nominated Hank Williams classic “Hey Good Lookin’” from Buffett’s License To Chill album. Joining Buffett are Clint Black, Kenny Chesney, Alan Jackson, Toby Keith and George Strait. Buffett is also nominated for Music Video of the Year with Jackson for “It’s Five O’Clock Somewhere.” In 2003, Buffett won his first-ever music award when he and Jackson picked up the CMA Vocal Event trophy for the No.1 hit. This all-star collaboration unites four former CMA Male Vocalist winners. Black received the award in 1990; Jackson in 2002 and 2003; Keith in 2001; and Strait in 1985, 1986, 1996-1998. Jackson, who tops the list of nominees with seven nominations this year, has tapped one of the most critically-acclaimed stylists in the format for his performance on the 2004 CMA Awards. Patty Loveless, who was named CMA Female Vocalist of the Year in 1996, will join Jackson for “Monday Morning Church.” Terri Clark, the Canadian firebrand with blistering guitar licks and the attitude to play it loud will also perform on the CMA Awards. Clark is nominated for Female Vocalist of the Year. She received her first nomination in the CMA Female Vocalist category in 2003. Montgomery Gentry (Eddie Montgomery and Troy Gentry) received their first CMA Awards nomination in 1999 in the Vocal Duo of the Year category and have been nominated every year since – including 2004. They won the trophy in 2000 against duo powerhouse Brooks & Dunn, which marked Brooks & Dunn’s only career defeat in the category. Expect this rocking pair to bring along the three “As” of their personal stock of Country Music – attitude, adrenaline and adult beverages. CMA also announced the first list of presenters for the CMA Awards broadcast including Trace Adkins, Gary Allan, Clint Black, Buddy Jewell, Joe Nichols, SHeDAISY and special guest Shania Twain. Brooks & Dunn, who will also perform, will host “The 38th CMA Awards.” Previously announced performers include Dierks Bentley; Big & Rich; Kenny Chesney; Sara Evans; Alan Jackson; Toby Keith; Martina McBride; Reba McEntire; Tim McGraw; Brad Paisley with Alison Krauss; Rascal Flatts; Julie Roberts; George Strait; Josh Turner; Shania Twain with Billy Currington; Keith Urban; and Gretchen Wilson with additional names to be announced soon. The CMA Awards are produced by Walter C. Miller, directed by Paul Miller and scripted by David Wild. MJI Programming, a Division of Premiere Radio Networks, is the official radio packager of the CMA Awards, which includes Red Carpet coverage and a stereo-radio simulcast of the event. American Airlines is the Official Airline of the 2004 CMA Awards. ------------------------------- Shania is still a "special guest" She is now performing, hosting, and presenting. Great promo! The CMA must have figured out that Shania fans ditch the show after Shania is done...lol

Entertainer: Should: Tim McGraw Will: Kenny Chesney
Female: Should: Sara Evans Will: Sara Evans (fingers crossed - I think this could be her year)
Male: Should: Keith Urban Will: Kenny Chesney
Horizon: Should: Gretchen Wilson Will: Gretchen Wilson
Group: Should: Rascal Flatts Will: Rascal Flatts
Duo: Should: Montgomery Gentry Will: Brooks & Dunn
Single: Should: Whiskey Lullaby or Live... Will: Live Like You Were Dyin'
Album: Should: G. Wilson, Here for the Party (Restless, but I'm not gonna argue that here...) Will: B&D, Red Dirt Road (seriously, if the title Shockin' Y'All wins I will cry)
Song: Should: Remember When Will: Whiskey Lullaby
Event: Should: Either of the Alison selections are eerily beautiful Will: Hey Good Lookin', 'cause you can't argue with that much star power...
Video: Should: Redneck Woman Will: Redneck Woman, though this one will be close...
Don't know enough about the musician category to say. I hope we have some surprises and not the same old thing as it's been the last few years. The 2000 show, when the Chicks won Entertainer, was the best one I've seen, and the decline has been steady since then...
