Yet on MB it shows them as: 11. SELENA GOMEZ – Come & Get It: 66.707 (+1.086) ▲ DAFT PUNK – Get Lucky: 59.678 (+2.176) How can they be so close to each other on Billboard? The overall AI #s we get are inflated. Last week: Mirrors 188 million / 141 million -25% Just Give Me a Reason 176 million / 137 million -22% Can't Hold Us 160 million / 126 million -21% Radioactive 45 million / 36 million -20% I Love It 95 million / 75 million -21% Get Lucky 49 million / 41 million -16% The second number is the official figure from Billboard and the percentage represents the difference compared to the numbers we get on a daily basis. It's not really that we are getting inflated numbers, it's just that Mediabase uses a larger panel of stations than BDS.

I wonder since 'Mirrors' is actually Top 50 on Urban, can they, or will they, (Billboard) allow for it to chart on R&B/Hip Hop or will this crossover hit be shunned from charting there, which will defeat the purpose on the new changes to the charts.

Damn, big falls for Rihanna and Bruno. Hopefully Bruno can hang in there until "Treasure" makes top 10. :'(

Damn, big falls for Rihanna and Bruno. Hopefully Bruno can hang in there until "Treasure" makes top 10. :'( Yeah his consecutive stay in the top ten is all I care of when talking about WIWYM. It'd be bad if he break it by a week or two. And I can take it if my girl Rihanna fall out of the top tier to linger in the top twenty for weeks, but I'm rooting for these milestones/achievements plus I like Bruno too.

As long as he doesn't get close to Katy's record, I'm happy. What's the male record?

As long as he doesn't get close to Katy's record, I'm happy. What's the male record? 42 weeks – Santana — "Smooth" (featuring Rob Thomas), "Maria Maria" (featuring The Product G&B) (1999–2000)

I'm watching "Mirrors" action on Hot R&B Songs with bated breath. It is the next Urban single, already top 50. Will it debut soon at #2 on the main chart? Will that - in and of itself - delegitimize all debuts on these genre charts? (How was something that was not r&b last week, r&b this week?) The existential chart questions are killing me!

I wouldn't be surprised if they continue deeming it non-R&B, similar to the Mumford & Sons song that charted on country, and so then, like M&S, only let its R&B airplay count towards its points on the sales/streaming/airplay R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, unlike the other songs which get ALL airplay, sales, and streaming. Such a ridiculous concept.

Week Ending May 26, 2013. Songs: “Clouds” Takes Off
Zach Sobiech’s “Clouds” enters the Hot 100 at #26, a week after the aspiring singer-songwriter died of osteosarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer. He had just turned 18. Sobiech, who was first diagnosed with the disease at age 14, wrote the song as a way of saying goodbye. It would have been easy (and forgivable) for the song to be maudlin, but it isn’t. It has the light, almost buoyant, touch of such hits as Jason Mraz’s “I’m Yours.”
Mraz was among 30 stars to participate in a tribute video, in which they mime Sobiech’s recording. Others include Colbie Caillat, Sara Bareilles, Phillip Phillips, The Lumineers and Jason Derulo. At the end of the video, Mraz says, “Thank you Zach. You’ve written a great song, dude. It’s a real pleasure to sing it, and sing it with you. Thank you.”
“Clouds” sold 156K digital copies this week. It re-enters Hot Digital Songs at #7. It first bowed at #199 two weeks ago and slipped off last week, before Sobiech’s story captured America’s heart. “Clouds” is also featured on the EP Fix Me Up, which Sobiech released with his group A Firm Handshake. The EP sold 19K copies last week and enters Top Pop Albums at #20.
Other artists have bid farewell in songs. Warren Zevon did so with his song “Keep Me In Your Heart,” which he wrote with Jorge Calderon. The song received a Grammy nomination for Song of the Year for 2003, but failed to crack the Hot 100.
Sobiech isn’t the first artist to gain widespread recognition only after his death. Jeff Buckley’s version of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” was featured on his album Grace in 1995, two years before he drowned at age 30. The song reached #1 on Hot Digital Songs in March 2008. Israel Kamakawiwo’ole’s “Somewhere Over The Rainbow”/“What A Wonderful World” was included on his Facing Future album in 1995, but took off after his death in 1997 from respiratory failure at age 38. His medley has sold 3,697,000 copies. Eva Cassidy became known after her death from cancer in 1996 at age 33. Her Songbird was #1 on Top Catalog Albums for nine weeks in 2001.
“Can’t Hold Us” by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis feat. Ray Dalton holds at #1 for the fourth week. It’s #1 for the fifth straight week on Hot Digital Songs. Alas, it sold just 212K copies this week, which is the slimmest total for a song at #1 on the digital sales chart since Bruno Mars’ “Locked Out Of Heaven” was #1 with sales of 197K in December.
Macklemore & Ryan Lewis is one of two acts to appear in the top 10 on the Hot 100 every week so far this year. The other is Bruno Mars.
“Can’t Hold Us” is #1 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs for the sixth week.
“Just Give Me A Reason” by P!nk featuring Nate Ruess holds at #2 for the fourth week. The song tops the 3 million mark in digital sales this week. It’s the P!nk’s fourth 3-million-seller; Ruess’ third. For P!nk, it follows “So What” (4,591,000), “Raise Your Glass” (4,106,000) and “F**ckin’ Perfect” (3,010,000). For Ruess, it follows fun.’s “We Are Young” (6,627,000) and “Some Nights” (4,673,000). “Just Give Me A Reason” is one of the best male/female duets in years. I love the conversational quality of Ruess’ first line in his response to P!nk’s opening salvo: “I’m sorry, I don’t understand where all this is coming from/I thought that we were fine.”
“Get Lucky” by Daft Punk featuring Pharrell Williams jumps from #10 to #4. It’s Daft Punk’s first top five hit; Williams’ fourth. The song holds at #1 on Dance/Electronic Songs for the second week. Daft Punk’s Random Access Memories enters The Billboard 200 at #1 this week with first-week sales of 339K. It’s expected to remain on top next week.
Daft Punk is one of two acts in this week’s top 10 whose name incorporates the name of a musical genre. The other is Icona Pop, whose “I Love It” (featuring Charli XCX) rebounds from #9 to #7.
“Cruise” by Florida Georgia Line featuring Nelly jumps from #6 to #5 in its 34th week. Billboard’s Gary Trust reports that this sets a new record for the slowest-climb to the top five in the nearly 55-year history of the Hot 100. The old record was held by Lonestar’s Amazed, which took 30 weeks to hit the top five (which it did in February 2000). Both of these hits broke first at country and then gradually crossed over to pop. “Cruise” has sold 3,673,000 copies, which makes it the eighth best-selling country song in digital history. It has sold more than 2 million copies so far this year, which makes it the best-selling country song of 2013. (Nielsen SoundScan classifies Taylor Swift’s “I Knew You Were Trouble.,” which has sold even more copies so far this year, as pop.)
“Cruise” spends its 13th week at #1 on Hot Country Songs. That’s the longest run at #1 since Buck Owens’ “Love’s Gonna Live Here” spent 16 weeks on top from October 1963 through February 1964. This is the longest run at #1 by an ongoing duo since “Slipping Around” by Margaret Whiting & Jimmy Wakely logged 17 weeks on top in 1949-1950.
“Stay” by Rihanna featuring Mikky Ekko drops from #5 to #8. The song tops the 3 million mark in digital sales this week. It's Rihanna's 10th song to reach this plateau, counting collabos with Eminem and T.I., on which she was featured, and another with Jay-Z and Kanye West, on which she had co-equal billing. “Stay” has reached 3 million a little ahead of “Diamonds,” which was the first single from Rihanna’s current album, Unapologetic. That smash is up to 2,988,000.
Here's the low-down on this week's top 10 songs.
The Top Five: “Can’t Hold Us” by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis feat. Ray Dalton holds at #1 for the fourth week in its 16th week on the chart. This is its eighth week in the top 10. Digital sales rank: #1 (212K)…“Just Give Me A Reason” by P!nk featuring Nate Ruess holds at #2 for the fourth week in its 15th week on the chart. This is its 11th week in the top 10. Digital sales rank: #4 (184K)…Justin Timberlake’s “Mirrors” holds at #3 for the fourth week in its 15th week on the chart. This is its seventh week in the top 10. Digital sales rank: #9 (142K)…“Get Lucky” by Daft Punk featuring Pharrell Williams jumps from #10 to #4 in its sixth week on the chart. This is its second week in the top 10. Digital sales rank: #5 (180K)…“Cruise” by Florida Georgia Line featuring Nelly jumps from #6 to #5 in its 34th week. This is its fifth week in the top 10. Digital sales rank: #2 (197K).
The Second Five: Selena Gomez’s “Come & Get It” rebounds from #7 to #6 in its seventh week on the chart. This is its third week in the top 10. Digital sales rank: #6 (171K)…“I Love It” by Icona Pop featuring Charli XCX rebounds from #9 to #7 in its 17th week on the chart. This is its fifth week in the top 10. Digital sales rank: #10 (134K)…“Stay” by Rihanna featuring Mikky Ekko drops from #5 to #8 in its 16th week on the chart. This is its 15th week in the top 10. Digital sales rank: #13 (99K)… Imagine Dragons’ “Radioactive” dips from #8 to #9 in its 39th week on the chart. This is its sixth week in the top 10. Digital sales rank: #8 (148K)…Bruno Mars’ “When I Was Your Man” drops from #4 to #10 in its 23rd week on the chart. This is its 16th week in the top 10. Digital sales rank: #23 (77K).
Nothing moves into or out of the top 10 this week for the first time in nearly six months.
“Blurred Lines” by Robin Thicke featuring T.I. and Pharrell Williams, which vaulted from #54 to #12 last week, is expected to remain strong in its sixth week. It’s vying to become Thicke’s first top 10 hit; the 11th for T.I.; the sixth for Williams. Digital sales rank: #3 (191K).
“Highway Don’t Care” by Tim McGraw with Taylor Swift, which dipped from #23 to #24 last week, tops the 1 million mark in digital sales.
Here are other songs that are vying to enter the chart this week.
“We Own It (Fast & Furious)” by 2 Chainz & Wiz Khalifa. The song is from the Fast & Furious 6 soundtrack, which enters The Billboard 200 at #32 this week.
“Headband” by B.o.B featuring 2 Chainz. It’s from B.o.B’s upcoming third studio album, Underground Luxury.
Maroon 5’s “Love Somebody.” This is vying to become the fourth top 10 hit from the group’s current album, Overexposed. The album has sold 1,335,000 copies.
“Play Hard” by David Guetta featuring Ne-Yo and Akon.
“Wit Me” by T.I. featuring Lil Wayne. It’s from T.I.’s upcoming Trouble Man II: He Who Wears The Crown. That’s a sequel to T.I.’s Trouble Man: Heavy Is The Head, which debuted and peaked at #2 in December.
“Beneath Your Beautiful” by Labrinth featuring Emeli Sande. The classy song reached #1 on the Official U.K. chart in November.
Chris Young’s “Aw Naw.”
Rhett Thomas’ “It Goes Like This.” Thomas, 23, is the son of country singer Rhett Akins, whose career peaked in 1996 with the #1 country hit “Don’t Get Me Started.”
In addition, three singles by contestants from The Voice have a chance of debuting: Danielle Bradbury’s version of Jo Dee Messina’s 1996 country hit “Heads Carolina, Tails California,” Michelle Chamuel’s version of “Just Give Me A Reason” and Holly Tucker’s version of the gospel standard “How Great Thou Art.”
Alex Clare’s “Too Close” tops the 3 million mark in digital sales this week. The song reached #7 on the Hot 100.
To My Readers: I’ll have more to add after I’ve seen the full Hot 100.

"Diamonds" should pass 3 million next week, as expected. Not bad so far. "Just Give Me A Reason" is even more remarkable, her current era is a monster. Glad "Too Close" finally reached the plateau despite that low peak.

Will that - in and of itself - delegitimize all debuts on these genre charts? (How was something that was not r&b last week, r&b this week?) The existential chart questions are killing me! Whether it was an R&B song last week or not, why should this song that is clearly getting the traction from Urban radio be penalized for actually making the Top 50, unlike some other "#1 songs"? I'd like to see a great answer from Billboard on this matter.

^Frankenstein? Isn't that an instrumental rock song? I'm surprised that it did that well? :o Also surprised Pillow Talk was a big hit back then. "Frankenstein" is indeed an instrumental rock song. It's very heavy sounding, so IMO it's not that surprising that it was a big hit in the early 70's. "Pillow Talk" is not the Doris Day version, but a new song (well new at the time) by Sylvia of the duo of Mickey and Sylvia who had a hit back in the 50's called "Love Is Strange."

^ Forget the addition of streaming, downloads, airplay-only songs and monitored airplay, this week 40 years ago was the first MAJOR publicized methodology change for the Hot 100.
Ladies and gentleman, we now include.... Jukeboxes!

Considering when you think about 'jukeboxes' that relates to the 50s, it should have definitely been added to the Hot 100 formula by the early 60s. They were way too late on that one.

I know Billboard had a jukebox chart, pre-Hot 100, but I didn't realize the Hot 100 incorporated jukeboxes. Interesting.

Right around 1973 they also brought back airplay to the top 50 after removing it for a few years

"Blurred Lines" fell in digital sales and probably in streaming as well given last week most likely sparked a lot of streams due to the performance and it's increase in airplay most likely wasn't enough to overcome that. It's #11 this week, but next week it will be top ten as its airplay continues to explode. Sales are likely to remain stagnant next week and streams may even increase. It's on track to become a huge summer hit, so missing the top ten this week really isn't anything. I agree with velaxti, "Get Lucky" looks to take the #1 next. After that it looks to be a fun battle between "Blurred Lines" and "Treasure."
