LOL, I'd accounted for the re-charting but not the posthumous, the posthumous being why I deleted my reply.

Mick Jagger was only a featured artist, hence the asterik by his name.
For bands, I've pretty much been using the lead singer, unless it's a group with multiple leads ie. The Beatles.

Christine McVie was 46 when Fleetwood Mac's "Save Me" went Top 40 (and she sang lead on it). In her solo career, she was 40 when both of her solo hits went Top 40 ("Got A Hold On Me" and then "Love Will Show Us How"). Including "Silver Springs" Christine would go up to 54.

I didn't include that because Stevie is the only lead vocalist on that song, although Christine does sing backing. If you'd include Christine, Lindsay Buckingham should join the list for that as well (he turned 48 the day the song peaked).

I believe the duo that sang "Macarena" were around 48 years old when that blew up in the U.S.

With "Let it Go" entering the top 50 this week, Idina Menzel has been added to the list.
Also updated Mariah Carey's age, since she will be turning 44 on Thursday (and there's no reason to see "You're Mine" crashing out by then).

Pharrell is 40, so he should be added. Also, David Guetta's most recent entry is "Play Hard", and Eminem's is "Headlights".

Added Tiesto and Pharrell. Will soon re-update since Pharrell will turn 41 next month.
We may soon see Prince too as he is 55. It would make him the 6th oldest act on CHR, beating Ringo Starr by 3 months.

Interesting list, is it weird I want to see Madonna move up? May happen before the end of the year. She'll be 55 or 56 depending when the song is released.

If Madonna can score a top 40 after May 2015, it will make her the oldest female artist to make the top 40 (Tina is the oldest to make top 50). Cher holds that record currently at 56 years, 9 months.
Forgot one which has been added. James Brown reached #5 at the age of 52 (Living in America).

Should Tammy Wynette be added? She was 49 when Justified and Ancient hit.

Prince will probably be added to this list shortly. I'm not so sure. Prince was a big star and he always receive a good bunch of spins when he releases a new song, but he doesn't have a charting song since The holy river in 1997, so the odds are against him reaching top 50

In the posthumous category, there's also Nat "King" Cole.
When "Drift Away" was on AT40, there was a stretch story on old timers, and Casey pointed out that one of the members of Arrested Development was real old. I guess that doesn't help much because I don't remember who or how old.
Vincent Price must've been pretty old when he did the guest vocal on "Thriller."

Etta James' vocals from her 1962 single "Something's Got A Hold On Me" were sampled in Avicii's "Levels" and Flo Rida's "Good Feeling." She was 73 at the time. She died while both songs were still charting. She however never saw a CHR/Pop hit other than these samples since the chart's 1973 debut. Bobby Vinton was 70 when his sped-up vocals from "Mr. Lonely" were sampled in Akon's 2005 hit "Lonely."

In the posthumous category, there's also Nat "King" Cole. I think this thread should focus on still-living-at-the-time-of-charting artists. But, nonetheless, Nat "King" Cole would have been 71 when "Unforgettable" charted in 1991 (he died in 1965 at the age of 45). Had to do some Googling on this one. The Arrested Development member was "spiritual adviser" Baba Oje. My search reminded me that he had a stroke in 2010 at age 78. That would have made him 61 in 1993 when Arrested Development last charted. Good catch. Price was 72 when "Thriller" was charting.

Wasn't Linda Ronstadt in her 40s when All My Life charted?

Wasn't Linda Ronstadt in her 40s when All My Life charted? Yup. 43 to be exact, and Aaron Neville was 49. But he was 52 when he had his last CHR hit, 1993's "Don't Take Away My Heaven".

Added both Linda Ronstadt & Aaron Neville. Added foot notes for Nat King Cole and Dobie Gray.
Double checking, and "Unforgettable" also makes Natalie Cole eligible. She was 41 when the song charted.

Roberta Flack was 52 when "Set The Night To Music" charted in 1991.

Thanks for the work, johnm. Would be interesting to see a list of higher thresholds, too, like top 20 and top 10.

On the current chart, there's 43-year-old Lil Jon with "Turn Down For What."

You can put an asterisk on Jay-Z as well, since he was featured in "Drunk In Love".
