How about Billy Joel? He was born in 1949, making him 44 years old when "The River Of Dreams" and "All About Soul" were charting in 1993.

^How did we miss that one for so long? Good call!
Updated on page 4.
Also added Al Green, who was 42 when he hit with "Put A Little Love In Your Heart."

Cliff Richard was 40 when "Suddenly" and "A Little in Love" were released and 41 when "Daddy's Home" was released. Twin brothers Walter and Wallace Scott of The Whispers were 43 when "Rock Steady" was released. Daryl Hall and John Oates were 44 and 41, respectively, when "So Close" was released. Loleatta Holloway was 45 during the run of Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch's "Good Vibrations." Howard Hewett was 41 when "This Is For The Lover In You" with Babyface was released. Jennifer Warnes was 40 when "I've Had the Time of My Life" was released. Did "Goldmine" by the Pointer Sisters chart on CHR? Ruth was 40. Did David Cassidy chart on CHR with "Lyin' to Myself"? He was 40, I think. When did Luther Vandross have his last CHR hit?

Did "Goldmine" by the Pointer Sisters chart on CHR? Ruth was 40. Did David Cassidy chart on CHR with "Lyin' to Myself"? He was 40, I think. Both of these made the top 40. And, yes, Cassidy was 40. When did Luther Vandross have his last CHR hit? "Always And Forever" in 1995. He was 43. Can't believe we missed him.

Diane Ross was 40 when "Missing You" was released.
Huey Lewis was 41 during the run of "It Hit Me Like a Hammer."
Carl Anderson was 41 when "Friends and Lovers" was released.
What/when was Steve Winwood's last hit?

Huey Lewis was 41 during the run of "It Hit Me Like a Hammer." Make that 44. HLN last charted in 1994 with "But It's Alright". (One of my all-time favorite groups. I'm kicking myself for not thinking of them.) What/when was Steve Winwood's last hit? "One And Only Man" in 1990 at age 42.

Think I got 'em all. Thank you guys.
Also, I changed Paul McCartney's song to "FourFiveSeconds" since it's more current.

Did Neil Sedaka chart on CHR with "Should've Never Let You Go?" He was 41. Did Barry Manilow chart on CHR with "Read 'Em and Weep"? He was 40. And don't forget to add my gurl Jennifer Warnes… She was ROCKIN' the LensCrafters eyeglasses and white sneaks at the AMAs at age 40! :O

It occurs to me that I see no mention of Chicago anywhere on the list. At the time of their last pop entry, "Chasin' The Wind" (1991), the four remaining founding members in the group were all in their 40s (James Pankow - 42, Lee Loughnane - 44, Walt Parazaider - 45, and the eldest, Robert Lamm - 46). Bill Champlin, who sang the lead vocals on that song, was 43.
Another veteran group to make their last pop chart appearance in 1991 was Styx ("Love At First Sight"). Then frontman Dennis DeYoung was 44.

Lou Rawls was 40 when "You'll Never Find Another Love Like Mine" hit. Did he chart at age 42 with "Lady Love"?
Levi Stubbs of The Four Tops was 45 when "When She Was My Girl" hit. Did The Four Tops chart with "Indestructible"? Levi was 52 then.
Smokey Robinson was 47 when "One Heartbeat" charted.
Henry Fambrough of The Spinners was 42 during the run of "Cupid/I've Loved You for a Long Time."
Marvin Gaye was 43 when "Sexual Healing" was released.
Paul Simon charted at 45 with "You Can Call Me All," right?
When did Quincy Jones last chart on CHR? He was born March 1933.

Hopefully I got everybody listed on page 5.
Also added Clarence Clemmons (44 when "You're A Friend of Mine" was on the charts) and finally included Tito Puente.

^^ You da best!
Another one for the list:
40: David Bowie (Never Let Me Down)
It looks like Cher, Tina Turner, Eric Clapton and James Brown are the only artists to go Top 10 in their fifties with completely solo singles… am I missing anyone?

Looks like Madonna's age will need to be updated. "Living For Love" is in the top 50, today. I see no reason to believe it won't still be there, next Sunday (just to make it official). Madge is 56, now.

Not sure if this was mentioned, but:
Are the ages rounded off? For instance, Cher wasn't quite 56 when "Song For the Lonely" charted (it was three months before her 56th birthday).

^^Updated Madonna on Page 4 and downgraded Cher (I think it was just an error, not rounded on purpose). I'll get to Starchild's list later this week once I get caught up at work.

This is nothing you should checkout the 60 year olds we getting on Active Charts like (AC/DC). and our Alternative Charts are quickly becoming 40-ish territory (Foo Fighters, Weezer, Seether, Offspring). I always say; the older they are , the better music they put out, cuz of experience.

I always say; the older they are , the better music they put out, cuz of experience. Certain genre charts like Rock, Country, Urban AC and others are more willing to play established artists, but the problem top 40 has become is they are looking for younger and younger, to a point where most acts over 35 don't even get sent to the format anymore.

Exactly ...and the musical quality of pop charts; which is low, also shows , because of that very shunning of artists over 40, who undisputingly create better music.

Better add Shaggy to the list. He hits the chart for the first time in over 12 years as "I Need Your Love" makes the top 50, tonight. He's 46.

60: Tina Turner (When the Heartache is Over) 56: Cher (Song For The Lonely) 49: Sting (Desert Rose) 48: Phil Collins (You'll Be In My Heart) What positions did these achieve on pop? I'm saddened that Donna Summer "I Will Go With You" and Diana Ross "Not Over You Yet" didnt make in impact in 1999 :(

I have the maxi-single for that song and it did get radio play here. I have added Diana Ross to the list. She turned 41 during the "Missing You" chart run.

Can we also add Timothy B. Schmit? He charted solo at age 40 with "Boys Night Out" and then at age 47 with the Eagles with "Learn To Be Still."
