I cannot believe nobody has mentioned Jimmy Helms of Londonbeat who was 46 when "I've Been Thinking About You" hit #1, and 50 when "Come Back" hit #13 on CHR( though only #62 on Hot 100)

How far back does CHR go?
1973 Sorry, I already deleted my post after reading an early post saying 1973. For those of you who wondered what I wrote, I referred to 67 year old Walter Brennan's 1962 top 40 pop hit "old rivers".

Still can add Ronnie Spector when she was featured on Eddie Money's "Take Me Home Tonight." www.youtube.com/watch?v=-RR6xJ0gWH8Also Dusty Springfield and the Pet Shop Boys with "What Have I Done to Deserve This." Dusty would have been over 50 at that point. www.youtube.com/watch?v=DiskK0g82XATwo pretty obvious choices that haven't been added to the list.

Dusty Springfield was actually 48 when "What Have I Done to Deserve This" charted in 1987-88 (born in April 1939, so would have turned 76 this month.)
Ronnie Spector was 43 when "Take Me Home Tonight" was a hit in late 1986.

If you see the list on page 4, Dusty has already been added and there's a note at the bottom about Ronnie who was uncredited on the Eddie Money song.

I added Juicy J, who turned 40 on Sunday (thank you Rick Dees).
Also added Sean Paul, who was 42 last year when "Bailando" charted.
Just added Jules De Martino of The Ting Tings who was 40 when "That's Not My Name" hit the Top 40 in 2009.

It occurs to me that we've overlooked R. Kelly. He turned 47 during the chart run of his collaboration with Lady Gaga, "Do What U Want".

Although Mediabase isn't giving him label credit, Verdine White of Earth, Wind & Fire is featured (along with Robin Thicke) on the single version of "I Don't Like It, I Love It" by Flo Rida. Verdine is 63 and will turn 64 next month.

Larry Blackmon of Cameo was 46 when Cameo was featured on Mariah Carey's "Loverboy." Other band members were probably just as old.

Yah, I think lead credit is more significant here, than a "featuring" one. Also, would top 40 be more significant in this case? Tina Turner's single barely scraped the top 50. Not sure if any of the others missed top 40. Nah, Top 50 is good... Besides, Tina is the Queen and she deserves this crown.

If we're using AT40 charts, Ryan mentioned that Mark Ronson is the same age as him - 40. "Uptown Funk" is still hanging around.

We hit an "old man" jackpot, this week, with Macklemore and Ryan Lewis's newly-charting "Downtown". Melle Mel (age 54), Kool Moe Dee (age 53), and Grandmaster Caz (age 54) are all credited as featured artists on the track.

Nelly is charting, again, with "The Fix". He's 40, now.

Gwen Stefani returns to the Pop and Hot AC charts this week with "Used to Love You" at 46 years young :)

Cher who began recording in 1963 and first hit the Bubbling Under chart in 1964 and #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1965 (as a teen) hit #1 with Believe on the Billboard Hot 100 at age 52. She was on the Billboard Hot 100 with Strong Enough at age 53 and with Song for the Lonely at age 56. At age 67 she was on the Billboard Bubbling Under chart with Woman's World and was on the Billboard Adult Contemporary Chart for 20 weeks with I hope You Find it at age 68.
The interesting thing about Cher is all of these entries were Cher as a solo. The reason why I am mentioning it is VERY hard to chart on even the Billboard Bubbling Under chart for a 67 year-old as a SOLO. If it had been someone like Taylor Swift feat. Cher or Katy Perry & Cher or Cher feat. any young and hot artist the Cher coul have charted based on whoever the young hot performer was. I mean Paul McCartney had a hit just by playing the guitar on Rihanna's FourFiveSeconds (Rihanna and Kanye and Paul M). Years ago when an artist did something like play a guitar or sing backup they would not be credited on the song itself (just in the liner notes) but nowadays they all take credit so in this case Paul McCartney got a Top 5 song just by playing guitar on Rihanna's song.

I noticed that Michael Franti & Spearhead are on the Hot AC chart with a new song. Michael is 49 today, but was 43 back in 2009 when "Say Hey (I Love You)" was on CHR, so I added him to the list on page 4.

johnnywest,
Page 4 is, still, missing a few names from a couple of my, more recent, posts:
47 - R. Kelly (Do What U Want) 53 - Kool Moe Dee (Downtown) 54 - Melle Mel (Downtown) 54 - Grandmaster Caz (Downtown)

I suppose David Guetta's age needs to be updated. "Dangerous" is on the climb. Guetta will be turning 47 next week. 48 now, as Ryan pointed out on AT40 this week.

And I added Trevor Guthrie to the list, who was 40 when featured on Armin Van Buren's "This Is What It Feels Like" 2 years ago.

Sia turned 40 last month and right now she's on the Mediabase top 40 chart featured on David Guetta's "Bang My Head."

This one only gets an asterisk because he didn't get label credit, but then-61 year-old Peter Thomas did the speaking on Paul Hardcastle's 1985 hit "19."

It's interesting that Maurice White, David Bowie, Glenn Frey and Natalie Cole are all included on this relatively short list of artists… this year, we've lost legends who had real career longevity.
