Kunt, I just voted early on for the sake of voting someone, as others do when we start a new game and quick lynching occurs. No no, that's fine, I was just curious as to how you thought having a RV would prevent you from getting screwed over. So you're saying you voted Az to get a quick lynch going? I have no evidence for Az actually being Mafia, other than his dramatic reply to my vote for him. I do suspect others being Mafia, but I have no solid reasons against anyone yet. Who are your suspects?

O, so we're not in RVS. Never mind, at least I have a vote out instead of being a non-helpful non-voter. I'm a little bit non-plussed we've had people getting prodded ALREADY, c'mon guys! I see banter between Kunt and Codex, not necessarily gonna amount to scum among them, but I'll be keeping an eye on that to see how it develops. Aside from that, I don't know that people have really settled into their rhythm yet as far as this game goes - which isn't the BEST thing, and obviously people getting prodded so early doesn't help. As for partner-claiming, my partner is Max if anyone cares.

Who are your suspects?[/quote] Codex is near the top of my list now, and Az is still on my radar but I have no good reasons so far to lynch him. I'm not too sure about anyone else. Juanito is also suspicious, and any who hasn't given thoughts on who to vote for is also suspicious. That said, Unvote: Az.

Damn quoting lol. Kunt, you also mentioned something about Drag being town. Care to elaborate, since I have mixed feelings about whether he's Mafia or not.

Lozzy I thought I'd link you since we really haven't heard your perspective on the discussion that has currently been taking place. How do you feel about revealing your lover? Has anyone in particular aroused any suspicion that one of us may have overlooked and is there anything in particular that you'd like to add? Thanks for tagging me. My original thoughts on lover-claiming were that it's more benefitial towards scum than town, as knowing if two power players are connected is very helpful for scum while I don't think the benefits of ensuring people don't use pairings as safe-claims, helping keep discussion flowing etc are more than moderately benefitial to town. However since basically everyone has claimed I suppose that's all out the window now! I suppose I'm ready to claim then; I'll just have to consult my partner to make sure he (or she?!?!) is on the same page first of course! As for suspicions? I haven't been putting enough mind into that as most of my thinking thus far was about lovers not suspicions, oop. From my readings just now, I'll put forward a couple, which range from quite poor to Avril: Β· josh, for making many posts with little content and throwing his vote around onto many different people. I imagine it's probably just Codex-D1-style play, but I feel he seems a little too non-commital. Β· Az, for that random RVS vote when it was pretty clear we were past RVS. Probably just a flop on his part but maybe a poor attempt at sidetracking discussion?? idk. Β· Devin for basically the same as what I said for josh (but to a lesser extent). I'll refrain from voting at the moment because I'm not anywhere near confident on any of those three, and need to do a bit more analysis. Oh also surprisingly this is also like the first time I haven't been suspicious of Drag. Not sure what to think.

Devin, quick lynching is almost always very bad. You almost always want to make an educated decision when lynching. The ONLY reason I did that in our game was because I was mafia, and it was a great way to fuck up town. Either you're not really sure how the game works, or you're scum and not really sure how that works. Can you explain to me exactly why Az is suspicious? I feel as though Drag is town based on his statements. He's made a few good points and genuinely contributed to the discussion at hand with what seems like reasonably pro-town intent. He doesn't appear to be playing carefully, he's not being particularly dodgy... I'm not 100% sure he's town, as I'm not ruling out the possibility that anyone could be anything, but I'm inclined to think he's town. I'll also venture to say that I think Max is town as well, for similar reasons. At the moment, I find Codex, Devin, and juanito to be making scummy plays. I know both Devin and juanito cannot be scum though. I'm assuming this is answering my question? A question for the happy couple, you and Devil Marlena Nylund, of the three listed above, do you feel it is likely that one of them is scum, and (preferably) why?

Yeah my vote was just a flop. It seemed like a back-and-forth between two specific players so I wasn't sure if we were still in RVS or not, 'cause there weren't really votes being thrown down (and from the latest vote count, only half of us had voted ANYWAY which didn't help). Seeing that I hadn't put a proper vote out there prompted me to do so right away, even though it was an RVS vote. Why haven't you guys voted yet, those who haven't?

I suppose I'm ready to claim then; I'll just have to consult my partner to make sure he (or she?!?!) is on the same page first of course! The only two to directly claim are me and Az. The others dropped hints, including Nick, so I think that ship has sailed.

Codex, Devin and Juanito? I'm assuming those are the three you want me to comment on for potential scumminess. Juanito, I don't recall having done much of anything yet? Hard to get a read on that. Codex, I've got my eye on - not quite FoS, but there's the possibility that everyone knowing his regular play-style could be impetus for him to consciously play differently to keep us a little off balance. Could be potentially scummy, or could be him not wanting to rush out guns blazing only to have a few bullets flying back in his direction, as has happened in previous games.
Devin, I'm wary of how he accused me of being 'overly defensive' to his RVS vote. My response (at least I thought) was quite clearly a joke, and I don't see how it's shifty of me to play along. And then Drag hopped on the same 'I'm overdefensive' wagon... I mean, really? At that stage it clearly WAS RVS, what am I gonna defend against exactly? Nobody had done anything that early on.

I seem to always appear scummy, and I'm always revealed as town in the end, and this game is no different.
Kunt, could you pinpoint my scummy plays I've committed so far clearly so I can learn to stay away from that? I clearly have some catching up to do with Mafia since I've stopped playing since like last Christmas.
Az, I only voted for you because you were to last one to comment before I did (plus quick lynching seemed to be commencing, so I joined the bandwagon; I can see now how that can appear scummy). I now have stronger vibes from Codex and Juanito in regards to who is Mafia.
I'm still not confident enough in either to make a solid vote, so I'll just wait until they comment.

What quicklynch bandwagon? Scrolling through the first page everyone who'd voted had put their vote on a different person. You may have STARTED a bandwagon, except Drag was the only other person to hop aboard so it never got that far.

@ kunt (I'm not tagging using the app): what's QT?
@ Slizzard: when you said you thought claiming lovers was beneficial to scum, I can see how but there are no night kills or anything so I don't think it will be that beneficial for them because they still have to convince everyone else to lynch the potential power pairs without being suspicious.

I clearly have some catching up to do with Mafia since I've stopped playing since like last Christmas. Quick lynching β lynching β voting. "Quick lynching" is when a player is lynched quickly, and at this point in the game in which information is just starting to come out, that is a terrible idea because you'd basically be taking a crapshot. "Lynching" is when a player is lynched for having been voted out of the game. "Voting" is placing your vote on a player, in the hopes that they will be lynched. This is typically done when you find a player particularly scummy, provided the game is out of the RVS (random voting stage). Now, to clarify, were you trying to start a quick lynch, or just placing an RVS vote?

@ kunt again: of the three you mentioned, codex was the most suspicious as I did an FoS on him. But as he pointed out, I always find him suspicious. I think he was mafia in only one of the games I've played with him in it - but I'd have to go back and confirm. And then confirm for this game what it is about him that I deemed suspicious. I think it was mainly his opposition to claiming lovers. I'd need to re-read devin and J. Nothing jumped out at me from them yet.
I also have a question regarding Kunt. But first: unvote: kunt I know that his tactic for game is to get people talking, which is helpful but it's also an excellent method to draw attention from himself. So while he's redirecting fingers to other players, does anyone have a reason to suspect kunt? I personally don't have anything to be suspicious of him but I'd like to keep the consideration open because I know myself, I would probably skip over considering someone who is making an effort to draw out scum while being scum himself. I just want to make sure we aren't doing that while we're weighing our thoughts.
Basically: without asking committing questions, what is everyone's thoughts so far?

@ kunt (I'm not tagging using the app): what's QT? LMAO. Quick Topic. Oh. Lmao! Ok, do I think making use of QT can be productive for town spotting scum? It has potential to, I think, but I feel like it would probably be easier to be convincing in a thread with one other person who you already have a connection with in the game. I'm sure we all (town) hope our lover is also town and probably sway in that direction naturally anyway. I think on that note, maybe we should try to be a bit more diligent on our partner both in QT and in here and make sure everything adds up. So to answer your question, I think it CAN but I don't think it would be something that would break something wide open. What are your thoughts?

Well yeah, it's for the better for any conversation here to reflect what goes on in our respective partner QT's. I mean unless there's something you're deliberately keeping private between the two of you/us/whoever (and this is not counting scum, 'cause we KNOW they're keeping stuff from us) then you want to make sure you're not finding inconsistencies. Spotting something that doesn't add up between the QT and the game thread could be an accidental scumtell, or misleading town error.

@drag27 you presented a case for your FoS of me, but voted for Az without much todo (this is from memory; shame me if I'm wrong). Why? Well, I saw that we were in RVS and I picked him to see how he'd react. I obviously took my vote off him shortly afterwards since there was no evidence whatsoever at the time that would point him to being scum. I just got home so I'm going to go through everything that has transpired while I was away. I will post my thoughts within the next hour or so.

I suppose I'm ready to claim then; I'll just have to consult my partner to make sure he (or she?!?!) is on the same page first of course! He's fine with it so yeah I'm in love with my partner is juanito, not Devin or Nick or anything Yeah my vote was just a flop. I know it's early stage and it could mean nothing, but it's kinda suspicious at the same time. That's the reason I'm only FoSing you at this time and not voting for you. This strikes me as odd. I don't really understand how Kunt inquiring about both his own and partner's potential death through modkill can be viewed as suspicious imo. Oh and since my partner has essentially been revealed. I've tried to do some digging on Codex myself and I do find his behaviour to be out of the typical ordinary posting style that I'm used to seeing during the games we've played together. Whether this means he's scum or not, I have no clue yet. I'm going to be on the lookout for anything suspicious. Slizzard, I do agree with your point on Josh now that I look back. He hasn't really dug for more information and his votes were all over the place (though most of it is most likely due to RVS); I'll keep my eye on him! For now I'm going to Vote" Juanito since we haven't really gotten any additional commentary from him about what has transpired so far and his comments to Kunt struck as being a bit off.

Had it not been a moot point, I don't see what extra info you're talking about. Now that we know what the pairs are, scum doesn't have any extra information that we don't have. And with there being no nightkills, they don't really have a way to orchestrate anything suddenly without delicately swaying opinion toward anyone they want out. I think knowing the pairs benefits us more than it could benefit them. Now we just need to keep an eye on everyone interacts with everyone else.

The reason I'm FoSing you is because you implied a lynch to yourself and a modkilling. I know it's early stage and it could mean nothing, but it's kinda suspicious at the same time. That's the reason I'm only FoSing you at this time and not voting for you. Why is that suspicious? As mafia, how would saying "please kill me" benefit me or my team if I were serious? It wouldn't benefit at all as you said if you're really a mafia, but it could be a strategy at the same time too. I mean, if you're indeed a mafia and claiming a self-lynching and a mod-killing, it makes town seem you're not a target and you're just kidding, but it could really mean you're trying to make ourselves, the townies, to fall in this.
As Slizzard just claimed that I am in love with he's my partner, it's now confirmed that Nick has a partnership with Devin. Also, I know I haven't been so active in this game, so I will give my thoughts within the next hours.

Slizzard, I'm not sure why you felt you had to consult with juanito before you decided to claim. Additionally, and maybe this is self-preservation talking, but I see nothing unusual about josh's play thusfar. He did say something about wanting to quick lynch "for fun" in our QuickTopic, but I figured he was just trolling. Other than that? He's just being josh. I also agree with Max. Knowing the partners gives scum nothing. But again; it's a moot point. As he already said, we just need to pay attention to the thread. I'm going to go ahead and assume Devin is still trying to wrap his head around the game instead of that being scummy though. FoS: Nick because honestly, you haven't had much to say yourself and I'm always wary of the quiet ones. I think it all depends on whether or not the QuickTopics are actively being used between players. Mine hasn't been, between me and josh. To literally everyone else, have your partners contributed much to your QuickTopic? I think it's a tool that scum could use more than town, honestly. A lot of appealing and "I think this person is suspicious because XYZ" could happen within them, although most content should hypothetically come out in the thread if not before, then immediately after being discussed within the thread. I'm inclined to think that a scum/town Lover pair would have a more active QT than not because of the advantage scum has to manipulate their partner within the topic. Also worth noting: pay attention to what your partner is saying and if they say something random. They might slip up and post the wrong thing in the wrong QT lol. Spotting something that doesn't add up between the QT and the game thread could be an accidental scumtell, or misleading town error. Depending on the inconsistency, I think it should be pretty obvious whether it's a scumtell or just a spacey townie.

Well, no, not really. If I'm kidding (and obviously I am; half of mafia is self-preservation) then all that tells anyone is I'm just trolling about. I don't think it says I'm either/or alignment, really. Either you're over thinking this, or you're doing the absolute most to frame someone.

Yeah, my QT has been pretty quiet. Only 4 posts, 2 posts each and nothing substantial other than a quick discussion as to whether lover claiming was a good idea or not - so there hasn't been a post in over a day. I'm not sure what benefits QT has for us really. Like kunt said, if your QT has a lot of discussion, it might be a clue that your partner may be scum? I think it's a reasonable theory because otherwise, what do town have to discuss that we can't discuss in this thread? It's another avenue to have to try to avoid appearing like scum to your partner. I think while QT might sound romantic or whatever, even merely using it to talk about stuff you don't talk about opens yourself up to secrets that can make you look scummy if you look like you have something to hide. I might just opt to use the QT minimally since I can't really think of a way it can benefit me since I know I can't trust my partner any more than I can trust anyone else.
