Gavin's new song is coming out in two weeks. Unfortunately, I don't know the title of it, but I talked to someone who has heard it and they said it sounds like a Train song lyrically and a Mumford & Sons song musically. Guess we'll see if it matches that description soon.

This sounds from the description like the textbook definition of a sell-out song, but I'll hold onto some hope that it turns out OK.

This reeks of RCA and their lack of original thinking,

The lyrics are definitely very Train. Catchy though.

I LOVE it. The lyrics are kinda Train esque but not nearly as corny.

I haven't heard this yet. Will listen when I get home.
I've come to determine that my love of Gavin DeGraw was a very limited-time thing and when I listen to him now, it's mostly for nostalgic purposes. So when I hear something new from him, I want it to be reminiscent of his first album but mostly because of my own life back when that album first came out. In university, care-free, time with friends, that sorta thing. I didn't care for his second album. The third acoustic album was different for him, though nice. His fourth album was most like Chariot but by that point, it had been 7 or so years so everything I wanted to feel for his music just wasn't there anymore. I guess my point is that I want to like his music and I do try but nothing really sticks with me anymore and it's mostly due to my own expectations and faults rather than his lack of having anything to offer. So if I can look beyond that, I might be able to enjoy him in the present again. In a way, I'm glad he's jumping on a modern-day bandwagon so I can attempt to enjoy him in a brand new context.

I actually really like this song, but this post perfectly sums up my feelings about him. He will never top Chariot for me. Ever. Even when he comes out with decent music, it just doesn't measure up. That album is still one of my all-time favourite records.

Gavin's had to live up to that with every release, and I've accepted the fact that probably nothing will touch it. Still, I love seeing him in concert, and I find songs on all of his albums that I enjoy. I think this is a smart single. This sound is fire right now and the song is crazy catchy. He sounds invested in it. I'm sure he's not abandoning the ballad-side some of us love from him.

I think every artist has an album that's just always going to be their best no matter how great their future material is. So I don't expect anything to really top Chariot for me.

What is going on with this song? Just so I can go back to properly hating RCA with every fiber of my being. LOL
Ok Gavin, give me the real first single. That doesn't sound like Train.

His voice sounds like Bob Dylan. The lyrics... whatever the opposite of Bob Dylan is.
