Zebra's Top 100 - December 14, 2014 - Week 80, Week 50

And the 150th number one is "7/11"! I may or may not celebrate 150 number ones by ranking them all. Anyways, "7/11" jumps from 14 to 1 this week. It does so with the aid of its video and all of its remakes. It holds "Ice Princess" at number 2 and "Night Changes" at number 3. "Rollercoaster" moves from 5 to 4, causing "Blank Space" to tumble from 1 to 5. Selena falls from 4 to 6 with "The Hearts Wants What It Wants". Beyonce holds at number 7 with "Heaven", Bleachers moves from 9 to 8 with "I Wanna Get Better", and the top ten comes to a close with two new entries. "Often" by The Weeknd moves from 12 to 9 and "Shut Up and Dance" by Walk the Moon moves from 13 to 10. Ten songs debut this week, but I don't feel too strongly about any of them. I suppose it's just an off-week.

"Habits" week: "Habits" jumps from 46 to 41 in its 49th week.

Sad to see "God Made Girls" on its way down, but I am still amazed that it peaked all the way up at #3!! Also love seeing "Night Changes" perched in your Top 3. I feel like this happens w/ 1D for me every era, but I believe that might be my new fave single of theirs. Great seeing Kacey just outside the Top 10 and Keith break into the Top 20, too!

I hope Sledgehammer, Keep It to Yourself, What We Ain't Got, and Gentle on My Mind among a few others keep climbing. And yay @ Shotgun Rider debuting! I guess that one is growing on you already!

3 Selena songs! I love "I Could Fall In Love" and "Dreaming Of You" and like "Como La Flor. Sad that her life was cut short in 1995. I like the Shirelles song. Leslie Grace did a nice cover of "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow". "Better Off Alone" never gets old. The Madonna, Lana Del Rey, Whitney Houston, Sade, Dolly Parton, Adele are classics as well as the Christmas songs. "Wannabe" by the Spice Girls brings back nostalgic memories of the 90's and absolutely love Foreigner's "Waiting For A Girl Like You". I also am a fan of "I Want to Know What Love Is". Wham & George Michael are timeless classics. Ah yes "Welcome To The Jungle". That song was used in a promo of 2004's Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. I remember Toni Basil's "Mickey". I wonder what she's been up to since. Heart & Radiohead are fun as well. As for the chart, great to see Cheryl's "I Don't Care" doing well. But sad to see Heroes (we could be)" go.

Glad you like it! "Heaven" is absolutely perfect. It's has a beautiful (albeit sad) theme, beautiful lyrics, and gorgeous vocals. It's only late because I wanted to give "Haunted" a standing chance. I couldn't pass up a chance to chart it. It's one of my favorites from her album. Thanks for commenting, Josh! I really appreciate it!

I still love "God Made Girls", but the competition is so stiff recently. Glad you like "Night Changes". It has a great shot a number one. Oh, and it is absolutely my favorite single of theirs. Wow! Again, I love all of your commentary on my recurrents. I totally agree on Selena, it's incredibly tragic that she died so young. Great cover! I prefer the Shirelles version, but that one is still really good. Agree on all of those. I have a tough time with deciding if "Waiting" or "I Want To Know" is my favorite Foreigner song. They're both fantastic. I agree, it's sad to see "Heroes" go but I just didn't have the space any longer. Thanks, Konami! I really appreciate it! :)

Sad to see Hozier drop, but I'm glad he had a chance at #1, also now From Eden has a chance for a nice peak with its entry this week. Good to see Shut Up And Dance in the Top 10, and Uptown Funk making its rise up through the Top 20. Hadn't noticed "Snap Out Of It" before, another fantastic cut off of AM, which has so many good tracks. Happy Idiot's entry position is promising, glad to see it earn a slot on your chart! Bleachers is controlling the Top 10 right now, those two tracks were my favorites off of the album, sadly I couldn't find anything else that I liked other than maybe "Shadow" (the song with the Yoko Ono feature is just ) but I did really enjoy the two (so far) singles.

Also just noticed your year-end thread after typing this, so I'll have to go have a look at that now. Another great chart! :)

Commentary:

Only one more week! Where did the time go? :'( Anyways, Beyonce manages to hold at number one with "7/11". "Night Changes" moves from 3 to 2, and it's running out of time to hit number one. One Direction causes "Ice Princess" to fall from 2 to 3. Two new songs jump into the top five, with Beyonce's "Heaven" jumping from 7 to 4 and Walk the Moon's "Shut Up and Dance" jumping from 10 to 5. Next number one? Possibly. "Rollercoaster" falls from 4 to 6. "Often" moves from 9 to 7, and "The Heart Wants What It Wants" falls from 6 to 8. Kacey moves into the top ten with "Follow Your Arrow", which moves from 12 to 9. Taylor rounds out the top ten with "Blank Space", which falls from 5 to 10. 

Christmas songs are beginning to take over! Four of them debut this week, along with 4 other debuts.

"Habits" watch: "Habits" makes its first substantial fall in weeks, falling from 41 to 53 in its 50th week. It'll have been charting for a year in two weeks.

Anyways, yeah I'm a little disappointed in how fast "Take Me To Church" is falling, but my chart is so strong right now. "From Eden" should have a fair enough run. "Shut Up and Dance" and "Uptown Funk" are both looking like they'll be some of 2015's biggest hits, so look forward to that. Love the love for AM and "Snap Out Of It" - I absolutely adore both. "Happy Idiot" should continue to do well. They were, but their grip has loosened considerably. I actually really enjoyed their album, with the exception of the Yoko Ono track (Glad we agree!). The singles are my favorite from it though.

Commentary:

Last week of the year! In an unexpected turn of events, "Follow Your Arrow" jumps from 9 to 1. I love it more now than I ever had, and it just feels like the perfect number one to end the year with. Even though I'm forever late. "Night Changes" holds at number 2. It'll probably hit number one next week. "7/11" falls from 1 to 3. Beyonce also holds at number 4 with "Heaven". "Shut Up and Dance" rounds out the top five at number 5. "Ice Princess" falls from 3 to 6 while "Often" holds at number 7. Three new songs enter the top ten, with "Happy Little Pill" jumping from 11 to 8, "Uptown Funk" moving from 13 to 9, and "Wrapped Up" leaping from 16 to 10. Expect them all to do damage in 2015. Also, look out for "Froot", "Somewhere In My Car", "Afterlife", "Gunshot", and "Say You Love Me". 

"Habits" watch: "Habits" falls from 53 to 56 in its 51st week.
