I'm glad you like it! I tried points initially, but I couldn't find a system to stick. If I could find a point system that I liked, I would definitely do it and certifications. I really like the idea of points and certs too.

Zebra's Top 100 - November 30, 2014 - Week 78, Week 48 - Repost

Commentary:

Azealia Banks scores her first number one this week as "Ice Princess" jumps from 7 to 1. In retrospect, "212" should've been a number one but alas it wasn't. It definitely has a top five peak though. Anyways, "Ice Princess" is my favorite thing that she's ever done. Azealia just has a nice week period. "Yung Rapunxel" moves from 55 to 52, "Chasing Time" doesn't fall off, and "BBD" debuts at number 88. Unfortunately "Heavy Metal and Reflective" becomes one of 11 drop offs this week. In other news, Selena holds at number 2 with "The Heart Wants What It Wants". Expect it to have a little bit of longevity. Hozier slips from 1 to 3 with "Take Me To Church". I feel like it deserves more weeks at number one, but I wanted "Ice Princess" to be able to take it before everything else does. Hozier will perform well on my year end, though. "Blank Space" holds at number 4. It'll likely become Taylor's second number one from 1989. I do kind of regret sending "Shake It Off" to number one, but I liked it at the time so that's that. RaeLynn falls from 3 to 5 with "God Made Girls". Expect her to be overtaken by "Somewhere In My Car" in the next few weeks to become my highest ranked country song. Country is just killing it lately. One Direction makes a huge move into the top ten as they blast from 59 to 6 with "Night Changes". Look for it to be a major contender for the top spot in the coming weeks. It's already One Direction's highest peaking song ever, which truly reflects how I feel about it compared to the rest of her discography. It's not that I haven't enjoyed them, it's just that I love "Night Changes" so much more. Glass Animals fall from 5 to 7 with "Gooey". Had I remembered to chart it earlier in the year (oops) then it probably would have peaked higher. Bleachers holds at number 8 with "Rollercoaster". "I Wanna Get Better" is looking to become their second top ten hit as early as next week. Beyonce scores her sixth top ten hit from Beyonce with "Heaven". "Heaven" moves from 14 to 9. Speaking of Beyonce, she scores the highest debut of the week with "7/11" at number 20. Expect it to become her seventh top ten hit from her most recent offering shortly. Mary Lambert occupies the last position of the top ten with "Secrets". It falls from 6 to 10 this week.

Otherwise on the chart, Lykke Li scores the second highest debut of the week with "Gunshot" at number 58. It's the follow up to "No Rest For the Wicked", which peaked at number 10. "Fool's Gold" debuts at number 66. Fitz & the Tantrums have previously charted with "Out Of My League" and "The Walker". I'm starting to try to chart songs that I may have missed, so several of those debut this week. The highest of such is "Lies" by CHVRCHES at number 68. CHVRCHES debuts at number 80 with "Gun" as well. HAIM finally charts a (proper) follow-up to "Falling". I say proper because "Forever" only charted at number 95. This follow-up is "If I Could Change Your Mind" at number 71. Kacey Musgraves debuts at number 72 with "Keep It To Yourself".  "Follow Your Arrow" is looking to re-enter as it is re-growing on me. So look forward to that. Eden xo debuts at number 78 with "Too Cool To Dance". "Young Blood" debuts at number 99, thus becoming Bea Miller's first entry. "Caught In the Storm" debuts at number 100. It becomes the Goo Goo Dolls's second chart entry. 

"Habits" watch: "Habits" inches up from 49 to 47 in it's 47th week.

You're welcome! I find some variation of the triangular points system works well. Songs at the bottom of the chart are close together in points, while songs at the top are spread more apart, like Hot 100 points, sales, spins, AI, etc. I have a set formula then use a varying multiplier each week based on if the week is competitive, slow, normal, super slow, etc. Doing points like ry4n gives a more accurate value to everything, but then you can't just plug in a simple formula in Excel to do it all automatically.

I initially was drawn to the triangular points system but then I tried making my own formulas up and failed miserably, haha. I like what ry4n does but I would hate having to plug all of those values into Excel. I probably would actually use the triangular system if I knew what formula to use for it. I like what you do with the multipliers, as I would try to adjust points each week as I saw fit if I used that system. So I guess it all boils down to the fact that I'm not very Excel-savvy. Lol.

Zebra's Top 100 - December 7, 2014 - Week 79, Week 49

Commentary:

Caught up again now. This was the date of finals week, so please excuse the delay. Anyways, Taylor's "Blank Space" ascends from 4 to 1. It's such an earworm. I fully expect a new number one next week, and it'l be a toss up between "Night Changes" and "7/11". Interesting fact, my next number one will be my 150th. I'll probably do something special to commemorate it. "Ice Princess" slips from 1 to 2, in between "Space" and "Changes". "Changes" inches from 6 to 3 this week. "The Heart Wants What It Wants" falls from 2 to 4. Bleachers now have two entries in the top ten as "Rollercoaster" moves from 8 to 5 and "I Wanna Get Better" moves from 12 to 9. Hozier's former number one hit "Take Me To Church" falls from 3 to 6. Beyonce moves from 9 to 7 with "Heaven". I don't know how far it'll go, but I do know that it has stiff competition from "7/11". RaeLynn slips from 5 to 8 with "God Made Girls". Glass Animals slip from 7 to 10 with "Gooey". The next five positions are all strong contenders for the top ten. They are "Kisses For Breakfast" at number 11, "Often" at number 12, "Shut Up and Dance" at number 13, the aforementioned "7/11" at number 14, and "Happy Little Pill" at number 15. It turns out that "Pill" didn't get stuck at number 21.

Other notable news this week comes from my debuts. There's eight debuts and one re-entry. The re-entry comes from Kacey Musgraves's "Follow Your Arrow" at number 23. It's already hit a new peak. The reason for this re-entry? I was listening to Same Trailer Different Park and then I realized that "Follow Your Arrow" has been one of my favorite songs this year and it's peak didn't reflect that. I'll at least send it to the top five. Ingrid Michaelson scores her highest charting song to date with "Afterlife" at number 36. "The Hanging Tree" also blasts in at number 42. It's beautiful. Robert DeLong earns his first charter with "Global Concepts" at number 68. I know it's late, but that definitely didn't stop me from charting "People Help the People" lmao. I really love "Concepts", so expect it to do well. Usher enters with "I Don't Mind" at number 70. It's definitely a guilty pleasure. It's his highest charter since "Numb" back in 2012. Jamie Scott debuts at number 73 with "Unbreakable", Ten Walls debut at number 74 with "Walking With Elephants", "Freaks" debut at number 76, and "push pull" debuts at number 77.

"Habits" watch: "Habits" moves from 47 to 46 in it's 48th week. Longevity queen. :'(

Big Fan of Bryan Adams and love Pat Benatar's "Love Is A Battlefield". The Cars "Drive" never gets old. There was a scene in the 2007 film Transformers playing the song. "Time After Time" is great as well as Karma Chameleon and of course "One More Night" by Phil Collins. Taco's "Puttin On The Ritz" is a nice surprise and "(You Spin Me Round) Like A Record" is such a fun song. Prince and The Commodores are classics as well as Lionel Richie and one of my all time favorites "Every Breath You Take" by The Police. "Manic Monday" brings back good memories.
