Extended commentary again!
In a surprising move, Imagine Dragons rebound one place to take the number one spot for a 3rd week with "Radioactive". Tamar Braxton also slides up one position with "The One", reaching a new peak of number two. Phillip Phillips moves into the top three with "Gone, Gone, Gone", which vaults from 7 to 3. It may be a number one contender in the next few weeks. Disclosure and Calvin Harris are also in the top ten, with Disclosure's "White Noise" (with AlunaGeorge) moving up one place to number 4, and Calvin and Ellie's "I Need Your Love" rebounding from 8 to 5. As a result of all of these new upward moves, however, Delta Goodrem's previous two week number one "Heart Hypnotic" falls from number 1 to 6. This is the biggest fall from number one in the history of my chart, all 8 weeks of it. AlunaGeorge also moves up with "Attracting Flies", which is up two to number 7. Previous one week number one "Figure 8" is down 4 to number 8, with previous two week number one "Clarity" also down four to number 10. Lorde makes a "royal" entrance into the top ten at number 9 with "Royals", the lone new top ten entry. Large jumps on the charge come from OneRepublic, whose "Counting Stars" moves from number 16 to number 11, Lana Del Rey, whose remix of "Summertime Sadness" powers from number 22 to number 13, tied for Greatest Gainer with Paramore's "Still Into You", which also moves up nine spots, from number 41 to 32, Capital Cities, whose "Safe And Sound" rebounds to number 18, and is expected to pass it's previous peak of number 16 next week, Passenger's "Let Her Go", which moves 8 spots to number 24, Janelle Monae's "Q.U.E.E.N.", moving up 7 spots to number 27, Thirty Seconds To Mars with "Up in the Air", Passion Pit with "Carried Away", and Justin Timberlake with "Take Back the Night". Another new record is set this week, and that record belongs to Karmin. Karmin's new song "Acapella" blasts into the chart at number 14, blowing previous record holder Delta Goodrem's number 36 debut out of the water. Three previous Disney starlets debut/re-enter this week, as well as P!nk. Selena Gomez boasts the highest new entry with "Slow Down" (a re-entry) at number 44, followed by Ariana Grande with "Baby I" at number 46, Demi Lovato at number 47 with "Made In the USA", and P!nk at number 48 with "True Love", featuring Lily Rose Cooper. The biggest drop belongs to Lovato's "Heart Attack" which falls nine places to number 39. Five songs drop out this week, and they are: "Glowing" from number 38, "Get Lucky" from number 44, "Thank You" from number 47, "Lego House" from number 49, and "My Songs" from number 50. Look for Ellie Goulding to perhaps debut next week with "Burn", which is number one on the Bubbling Under chart. Enjoy!
