Hi! I'm Zebra, and this is my personal chart thread. I try to post new charts on Sundays, but there are weeks where it is posted later. If this is the case, I'll typically post it between Monday-Wednesday. If you want to be tagged just let me know! Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you enjoy! :) History: Zebra's Top 100 officially started in mid-2013, but I created archival charts dating back to 2009. I selected 2009 because that was the year that I really began to follow music. My inaugural number one was "Circus" by Britney Spears and there's been many since. I'm still working on the archival charts but once those are finished I'll update this post with pertinent information regarding statistics, number one listings, etc.
Hello, all! I'm Zebra, and this is the debut of my personal chart! As this is the first week, many songs are cut off in the middle of their runs for me. For instance, songs like "Alive", "Wings", and "Tonight I'm Getting Over You" were all songs I would have placed in my top ten. Songs like "Get Lucky" and "Heart Attack" debuted really high (and they may be back on their way up!) and thus their peaks aren't true, either. This chart reflects my favorite songs for the week. I am not sure about a point system quite yet, but I will figure it out. I hope to make many more of these! Anyways, I hope you all enjoy! Zebra's Top 50 - June 9, 2013
My inaugural chart, and "Radioactive" by Imagine Dragons is the top song of the week. It holds off Ariana Grande and Mac Miller's "The Way" at number 2. Justin Timberlake starts at number 3 with "Mirrors" (a previous no. 1), Zedd & Foxes start at number 4 with "Clarity", The Lumineers start at number 5 with "Stubborn Love" (a previous no. 1), Macklemore & crew start at number 6 with "Can't Hold Us", Demi Lovato starts at number 7 with "Heart Attack" (a previous no. 1), Lana Del Rey starts at number 8 (a previous no. 1), P!nk & Nate Ruess start at number 9 with "Just Give Me A Reason" (a previous no. 1), and Imagine Dragons also bookend the chart with "Demons" at number 10. Zebra's Top 50 – June 16, 2013 – Week 2
Week 2 of my personal chart! My chart officially expands to 50 positions, although I had made a 41 to 50 region last week. Several songs benefit from the change, i.e. “Stompa”, “Everything Has Changed”, “Thank You”, “DNA”, and “The One”, all songs that were bubbling under. The bottom ten positions is mainly here so that bubbling under tracks that may not be my favorites but that I may enjoy actually have a chance to shine and so that falling songs have greater longevity. Anyways, it may be a new week, but “Radioactive” still holds at number one. Meanwhile, “Clarity” zooms from 4 to 2 and is likely a contender for number one next week. It pushes “The Way” and “Mirrors” down one place each. “Can't Hold Us” rises one place to number 5. Ellie Goulding flies into the top ten at number 6 with “Figure 8”. Expect big moves for this song soon. “Stubborn Love” falls from 5 to 7 while “Just Give Me a Reason” rises from 9 to 8. “Heart Attack” falls from 7 to 9, and “Gone, Gone, Gone” rounds out the top ten moving 12 to 10. The greatest gainer is Serena Ryder's “Stompa”, which rises 29 positions to number 12. Other big gainers are “Come & Get It” (18-15), “I Need Your Love” (23-17), “Everything Has Changed” (45-20), “Glowing” (32-27), “DNA” (42-32), “Thank You” (47-39), and “The One” (46-33). However, where there are big gains, there must be big falls. The greatest faller is “Wings”, falling 35 to 46. “Here's To Never Growing Up”, “The Other Side”, “22”, “Wagon Wheel”, “Highway Don't Care”, “#Beautiful”, and “Alive” also suffer notable drops, as they are all victims of the chart's beginnings. - Perfect Top 2. "Clarity" needs to climb atop! - "Can't Hold Us", "Figure 8", "Just Give Me a Reason" and "Gone, Gone, Gone" are in the Top 10. So good. - Nice jump of "Stompa". - "Pompeii", "Come & Get It", "Sail", "I Need Your Love", "Safe and Sound" and "Everything Has Changed" are in the Top 20. - "Get Lucky" needs to climb! - "Dance With Me Tonight", "Feel the Love", "Thank You" and "Up in the Air" jump as well. - Nice debuts from Robin Thicke, Selena Gomez and Ke$ha. - Glad to see the amazing "Perfect Replacement" is on your Bubbling Under, as well as "Wild" and "Let Her Go".

Glad you like it! "Clarity" will most likely climb there next week. "Get Lucky" would have been higher if I had started the chart earlier, probably would have hit number two. However, it will probably climb soon as I hear it more and more. "Perfect Replacement" is amazing, as well as "Wild" and "Let Her Go".

Points system: (A bunch of unnecessary info that many will not read. ) I was going to use a pyramidal system, but I didn't qute like the fact that number one had such a huge lead over number fifty. However, I did invent my own system for points. I assigned number one the number 150. I then subtratced three for each result down, like this: 150 - 147 = #2, 144 = #3, and so on. However, there was still a large disparity involved between 1 and 50. I then added 50 points to every song in the top ten. I was going to continue this all of the way down, but I didn't want a ton of certifications for songs that didn't really deserve it. To change this, I added only 40 points to songs from 11-20, 30 points to songs from 21-30, and 20 points for every other song. This makes number one worth only about 10ish times as much as number 50, instead of over 1000 times greater. However, there are weeks where I love say every song in my top twenty. I can change the points to wherec 11 - 20 gets 50 points added as well or 1 - 10 gets 60 points and every other addition of points will increase as well. So, my points sytem goes as this: 1 - 200, 2 - 197, 3 - 194.. etc, 11 - 160, and so on. It's confusing, but it isn't really that complicated. If it doesn't work then I may change to a different system, but I will test this one. Now, onto certifications! Twelve songs receive Gold certifications this week, "Radioactive", "The Way", "Clarity", "Mirrors", "Can't Hold Us", "Stubborn Love", "Heart Attack", "Just Give Me a Reason", "Figure 8", "Young and Beautiful", "Demons", and "Gone, Gone, Gone". Hopefully "Radioactive" holds off "Clarity" from the #1. Awesome climb into the top 10 for "Figure 8" - that would be a perfectly acceptable "Clarity"-blocker too! ;) Great to see "Stompa", "Come & Get It", "Dance With Me Tonight", "Glowing", "DNA", "Feel The Love" and "Thank You" up, and "Blurred Lines" debuting. Whereabouts would "Pompeii", "Sail", "Safe and Sound", "Get Lucky", "Next To Me" and "#Beautiful" have peaked before your chart came around? They all deserve top 5 imo. :'( Also still hoping for "Let Her Go" and "Battle Scars" to make it! Oh and I think your points system is good! :)
