I actually felt my heart sank an inch or two upon hearing about Naomi Judd. The Judds were such a big part of my childhood, even though I was only around for their last string of hits. I still hear their earlier material quite often. RIP indeed.

So sad to hear about Naomi Judd. Mental illness is a terrible disease

Speechless is an understatement, wasn’t she on the red carpet earlier this month? Praying for the family.

The Judds are one of the artists who taught me what Country music was when I was a child. I'm shocked that it would end this way especially a few weeks after her big TV comeback performance. She looked so great! And just before the hall of fame induction is just another knife to make it even harder! What a horrible end to their story.

The Judds released their first greatest hits album in 1988. Two new songs were added. The first single, Give A Little Love stalled at #2 for two weeks during the summer and could not topple The Wanderer by Eddie Rabbitt and Rodney Crowell's I Couldn't Leave You If I Tried. Second and final single, Change Of Heart originally appeared on their 1984 EP, The Judds: Wynonna & Naomi. Released in October, it became their twelfth chart topper in January, 1989. Naomi wrote the tune. R.I.P. Naomi, your love certainly can build a bridge.

1983 was a pivotal year for Naomi Judd. She signed to RCA Records as The Judds with her daughter, Wynonna Judd. She then appeared on the cover of Conway Twitty's Lost In The Feeling album.

I think deep down we already knew this, but reports are now coming out that it was in fact suicide. Despite losing her battle, she spent her life raising awareness about something that affects more people than we’ll ever know. My heart breaks for them. Devastating. RIP.

Well, that's just devastating. When I first saw Wynonna & Ashley say they lost her to "the disease of mental illness," it was my first thought, but I wanted to be respectful and wait for specification, because it could've been dementia, or Alzheimer's, or anything like that; those are also mental illnesses. I knew Naomi had battled depression for decades, but to hear that she did in fact reach the end of her rope breaks my heart. To lose your mother is always a crushing blow, but this is a specific and unique type of pain that I can't even imagine. My heart is with them both.
It's so chilling that she was Dolly's age (76), yet Dolly's only considered doing this one time and that was decades ago. She radiates complete happiness and joy at all times otherwise. It just goes to show how depression affects literally anybody at random. You can be on top of the world, yet not on Cloud 9. You can have the greatest blessings (good health, beautiful family, prosperous career, all of it) and still feel like something vital is missing.
I'm so thankful Naomi spoke up about her depression and brought awareness to it; because it truly does affect more people than we'll ever know.

Their acceptance speech was very difficult to watch. I lost my cousin to suicide a couple years ago and now anytime even mentions the thought of it, I become very overwhelmed. There are so many people out there suffering and choose to keep it to themselves to not burden others but I am glad Naomi was open about it to bring awareness and so that people would know they're not going through it alone. The Judds will always be remembered as amazing singers and good people. And I know Wynonna and Ashley will continue their mothers legacy.

I also lost my cousin to suicide a few years back and I remember how sudden and painful that was initially and truly am in awe of both Wynonna and Ashley's strength to go to the Hall of Fame to accept the induction and their acceptance speech was so hard to watch but there was something inspiring about it as well. My heart goes out to Wynonna and Ashley and the rest of Naomi's family and friends. So sad.

I am wondering why they planned this tour in the Fall if Naomi was in such bad mental condition? Even the CMT performance it appeared to me and a lot of others I've talked to or read posts by around the net that something seemed off with Naomi on the red carpet and even the stage. Like she just seemed to be robotic in a way instead of her normal bubbly self we all came to know. I'm wondering if the pressure of the tour and knowing she really couldn't do it could have pushed her too far. No one will ever know of course but maybe these tour plans shouldn't have happened.

Perhaps the thought process was partially to help Naomi feel her best again? Just a thought..

Every song these two release, I’m falling more in fandom. Come on Sony, let’s do an official radio or something push!
The girls voice specifically is amazing!

If you haven't seen Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina's most recent duet of "When You Say Nothing At All", it is well worth your time. As someone who geeked over Season 10 back in 2011, this was nostalgia central. We are due for a proper duet release from them!

TBF I don't think Scotty McCreery is that much of a duet artist (of his 4 studio albums there is only one song that has a credited non Scotty vocalist). I still think a duet regardless of the singer would be a big boom for Scotty's career imo

Naomi's happy place was on stage, and the tour would have hopefully facilitated that. I so wish that she could have hung on. Gutted for Wynonna and Ashley, especially with all of the recent drama surrounding Grace. Not at all what Wy needs at this time.

Mickey Gilley had two records simultaneously in the top five on the charts in 1980. Ironically, both were remakes and one was for the Urban Cowboy soundtrack. They were True Love Ways (Buddy Holly) and Stand By Me (Ben E. King). Both reached the top just three weeks of each other. R.I.P., Mickey.
BILLBOARD TOP TEN FOR WEEK ENDING JULY 26, 1980: 1. Bar Room Buddies-Merle Haggard and Clint Eastwood-Elektra 2. Dancin' Cowboys-Bellamy Brothers-Warner Bros. 3. TRUE LOVE WAYS-MICKEY GILLEY-EPIC 4. That is one of the most heart-wrenching interviews with a celebrity that I have ever seen. I just can’t imagine discovering my own mother in such a way. That’s a heartbreak time can’t mend, and the level of trauma that impacted Ashley is severe, and I couldn’t have imagined it had it not been written all over her face. It’s clouded her eyes dramatically. The letter from Wynonna struck a chord with me as well. Knowing the history of her relationship with Naomi, I can’t imagine having lost her so soon—especially like this—after the healing process that was their 2011 tour with one another. It’s very understandable that she chose not to join in on the interview. I hate that Ashley had to disclose the specific manner of her mother’s suicide, as that is absolutely none of our business. The fact she & Wy felt the need to do so before the tabloids found out and spun an offensive narrative around it filled me with both sadness and anger. I wish we could just do away with such trash publications. I don’t know how they’ll heal, if they’re even able to, but I pray for peace and comfort for them, and that they’ll eventually be able to move forward at the very least. 1-800-273-8255, “TALK” to 741-741, suicidepreventionlifeline.org/

First music video for Cody Jinks is for Hurt You. Would've much preferred something for "Roll" as that is one of my favorite songs from the album. That said, this song is probably more well-suited for his live shows.
