I already said a few things about Loretta Lynn in the News & Entertainment section of this website. We lost a treasured one today.

Not to be a downer but the Grand Ole Opry members adding is getting out of hand. Don’t get me wrong, but Ashley McBryde is awesome. For me a person like Rebecca Lynn Howard who’s always playing the Opry should be in before some of these artists.

Congrats to Ashley McBryde. I'm still listening and loving Lindevile and now this happens? I wish her all the best.
Sidenote, if by some of these "artists" you mean guys like Chris Young and Dustin Lynch Yes! otherwise No!

I mean they only add a few people per year so it's not that ridiculous or out of hand and Ashley McBryde has more than earned it as have most if not all of the people selected beforehand. Sorry, but it feels like you are undermining the newer acts getting in.

They needed to add some newer popular country acts because the Opry members are increasingly getting older.

Ashley honestly REALLY feels like a deserved member because more and more she is showing us, and the world, she is an artist at her core. Her music tells stories. She is able to pull you into the narrative and convey the lyrics in a way that makes you feel a part of whatever world she is describing for those 4 minutes. Absolutely a blessing that we get to enjoy her musical output and I am very happy for her.
She will never be the most commercially successful female in this genre and she does not need to be. She is herself, and that is what the Opry and country music is about.

Yeah I think they were needing more newer people. They've made some good choices so far with
Carly Luke Kelsea Lauren and now Ashley. (idk if i'm missing any others.)

Congrats to Ashely but I agree to the point. Just one of many examples. Deana Carter. She is playing there this weekend. She has played there quite a lot in her career. She has one of the biggest songs ever recorded in Country music as well as other big hits. Nearly 30 years into her career still not a member. Why?

I never really saw the appeal of being a member anyway. You have to commit to play so many shows every year and I don’t think they get paid very much or at all.

That's the honor of being a member of a prestigious organization. The question is: Do you do it for the love of the money or the love of the music?

I understand the history involved, but...I agree. The Opry just doesn't feel like a thing general Country Music audiences outside of the Nashville world care much about.. Basically just a legacy thing from the days when massive AMs had all the cultural power..

I hope Toby is the headliner for the next group of CMHOF nominees. He’s had a more successful career than Vince Gill and he’s on the same page as Alan Jackson, Brooks & Dunn & Reba, and they’re all in. It’s time to let him in while he’s still with us. I hope he’s doing ok with his cancer battle.

It's an interesting deal in that Blake retains profit sharing. It's almost like a catalogue partnership

That Ashley McBryde Opry invite was so sweet to watch. Her & her mom’s embrace brought a tear to my eye. I think she’s just fantastic.

Some really interesting takes on this page…
Sorry to see Jody Miller pass, she may not be as well known but she had some real gems In Her catalog. I have one of her albums on vinyl and it’s a great listen.

Not sure where to put this, but this is the song Morgan Evans wrote and sang live about his thoughts on the Kelsea relationship. It got so much buzz, they just released it.

Obviously I’m devastated that Morgan and Kelsea went through this pain but damn does heartbreak make fucking great music. Easily the best thing I’ve ever heard from him.

Sucks it took him getting his heart broken to put out a great song, but damn, this is good. He's definitely been squandering his potential on crap. This sounds like something that would've been a huge #1 smash for someone like Brett Young.
