Gotta be entertaining and, y’know, mobile to do a halftime show. Rihanna just did it while everyone else moved around her. Paul McCartney has done it. A week ago, I would’ve agreed that he could probably never do halftime but after the response to the anthem, I’m not sure he doesn’t have the best odds to actually do it next year.

I’m half-inclined to agree with you because Rihanna really did lean on background dancers & cool staging, lol, but…still a different case than standing at a mic stand strumming a guitar for 15 minutes. Stapleton really only has one globally renowned hit.

Stapleton really only has one globally renowned hit. If you are arguing for Carrie Underwood otherwise, she also only has one globally renowned hit and it's less popular than Chris Stapleton's. And I still don't really get the supposed issue? The key is showing your strengths and not copying the others if you don't have it. No one is expecting a hypothetical Chris Stapleton halftime show performance to have the glamour and it's totally fine. The interest might even surprise you.

Considering the reaction to Stapleton's CMA performance with Timberlake and his SB national anthem, I think he's proven he can entertain "the masses" without moving. He's also shown a willingness to forego promoting his own catalog to highlight something that means a lot to him (his first Grammys performance he chose to perform with Bonnie Raitt instead of promoting his album, this past CMAs he performed behind Patty Loveless in a move to support Kentucky as opposed to promoting his album), so he very likely would do the same with song selections for a halftime performance. I think he'd be a great choice.
I think Stapleton, Usher, and P!nk would all be solid choices for the next few halftime shows.

Point me to where I said Underwood’s name in my post, lol. I’ll wait. I stand by my opinion. He ain’t a fit for the halftime show. I love him, I love his music, and I’ve paid to see him live several times. But halftime show caliber entertainment, he is not. Dolly is, in my opinion, the supreme choice from the country sphere.

Or we can just have different country stars together performing signature hits together. That could feasibly work.

If we're gonna have someone do the Super Bowl that just stands there and sings, Adele is the only correct choice in that category.
Carrie Underwood or Dolly Parton would be much more dynamic and entertaining than a Chris Stapleton halftime could ever dream to be.

I hope Fortune surgery is successful. He has a good singing voice. I don’t know what’s going on with Wynonna, but I think she’s being a bit dramatic since Naomi died. I could be wrong.

You could be wrong and you are wrong. What an awful take. She was dizzy and felt dehydrated. And drank some water and continued her show. It's basically a non-story IMO. BUT, let's say she was being dramatic. She has every right to be. Her mother (and the other half of one of the most iconic duos in country music history) committed suicide and left an awful note about Wy. I am not even the biggest Wynonna fan but have a heart.

I just saw Wynonna perform last Thursday the 9th in Omaha and she was on stage for a full two hours and gave it her all and then some. The Dayton show happened to be on the 11th which was her third show in a row (and ninth overall on the second leg of the tour that only just began on January 26th). So yea, she mentioned she felt a little dizzy from being dehydrated and needed to sit down only to continue on and finish the show. And you call this being dramatic? Good grief.

What the fuck is wrong with you. Saying someone has been dramatic since their mother has died is absolutely evil. How dare you say that. As someone who has lost his parent you have no right to judge how someone is in regards to a parent dying. Shame on you.

I'm seeing Wynonna tomorrow night in Greenville! I know it will be incredible! She also has Tanya Tucker with her plus Martina! Talk about a legendary night!

Losing a parent is one of, if not the, hardest thing to deal with. As someone who has lost both things can spiral out of control quickly, including not eating and taking care of yourself. And we don't even know if this was related in anyway. I've had dizzy spells in the past. they happen. Some people should just not say anything.

Cool to see her on the show but I hate this new format. Maybe she didn’t want to commit multiple weeks.🤷♂️

Cool to see her on the show but I hate this new format. Maybe she didn’t want to commit multiple weeks.🤷♂️ Agreed. Any show like this is bound to lose its luster after awhile, and we're 9 seasons in now, but they've been doing way too much toying with the format in order to make it feel 'fresh' to the detriment of what made the show a good watch in the first place. In the earlier seasons we got the mystery of great singers killing it week after week, keeping us all guessing about who it could be, but now they cycle through the unmaskings so damn fast that it's impossible to have the same intrigue or allure that we need it to have for the show to properly work. She definitely deserved to stick around for a few more performances, and she certainly would have in one of the earlier seasons where the format made more sense.

She would’ve won this season if they hadn’t f**ked up the format to the point that it doesn’t even work properly. She should’ve been just like LeAnn and gone all the way; it’s criminal that she was sent home instantly.

That is a horrible opinion to have about someone who is still grieving, and someone who is having medical issues. But this bullshit is typical from you.

And yet, when the topics of race or LGBTQ+ identities come up in here in relation to a country music story, you go on tirades about how we shouldn’t be discussing our opinions about it. 🤔
