That irregular gain for BL yesterday may have been a temporary blip. It lost nearly a million on pop yesterday, today it stayed steady.

Justin Timberlake 22 25 4 TAKE BACK THE NIGHT Justin Timberlake I hope Take Back The Night manages to go top 20 on the Hot 100. It needs a performance soon. He's gotten so lazy. The only promo he's done since the day the album dropped was Ellen back in April.

Like with Adele's album, I just kinda want Blurred Lines to keep going and going. It's so rare we see such a spectacle of a hit, I want it to go as far as possible. It helps, I'm sure, that I love it.

It helps, I'm sure, that I love it. It is fun to watch, yes. But I'm excited for Katy and Gaga to come storming thru. Nothing else seems to be doing so, so we need some movement. But I think they'll both be blocked, lol. Week 3 or 4 is when things might start to shake up. That would give BL 13/14 weeks on top. We shall see...

I don't really get what the hype is with Blurred Lines, it's a boring song, it's not upbeat, just doesn't feel like a song that would be stuck in my head. Could just be me though, glad to see the airplay updates aren't as excessive, I can't imagine how fast it will fall. are -4.000+ updates possible?

"Blurred Lines" sounds to me like a 70s sensual R&B hit in the same category as "Let's Get It On" or "Disco Lady". Come to think of it, the summer of 2013 has been the summer of retro music. "Get Lucky" and "Treasure" are very much in the 70s disco category. Since "Blurred Lines" went up the TOP40 and Rhythmic charts very quickly and at roughly the same time, it could very well lose its' audience reach very quickly as well.

(In fact, today is the 2-year anniversary of its release.)

Specifically it sounds like Marvin Gaye's "Got To Give It Up," which Robin said is his all-time favorite song and he readily admitted he and Pharrell deliberately tried to re-create it with "Blurred Lines".

They did a good job at re-creating it, since it sounds almost the same haha. I don't think Blurred Lines will drop in airplay too fast. It'll still be climbing on AC, and out of the 5 formats where it's #1 they'll probably drop the song at different rates, so I think 5 million daily decreases would be unlikely.

That explains why everytime I hear "Blurred Lines" I keep thinking I have heard it before. I don't consciously remember "Got To Give It Up" but I was undoubtedly exposed to it in 1977 when it hit #1.

Based on the most reasonable formula so far, "Roar" won't be #1 on the Hot 100 even if she sells 600k. "Blurred Lines" is too far ahead.
HDS (35-45%) Airplay – BDS (30-40%) Streaming (20-30%)
Sales / 12 Airplay / 7500 Overall Streaming / 450 Only On Demand / 150 Estimates:
"Roar" HDS: 600,000 Stream: 1,000,000 Airplay: 80,000,000 = 62,888 points
"Blurred Lines" HDS: 300,000 Stream: 8,000,000 Airplay: 200,000,000 = 69,443 points

Estimates: "Roar" HDS: 600,000 Stream: 1,000,000 Airplay: 80,000,000 = 62,888 points "Blurred Lines" HDS: 300,000 Stream: 8,000,000 Airplay: 200,000,000 = 69,443 points By that logic: "Applause" HDS: 600,000 Stream: 8,000,000 Airplay: 60,000,000 = 62,888 points "Blurred Lines" HDS: 300,000 Stream: 7,500,000 Airplay: 195,000,000 = 69,443 points Sales / 12 Airplay / 7500 Overall Streaming / 450 50,000 + 8,000 + 17,778 Applause ------- 75,77825,000 + 26,000 + 16,667 Blurred Lines - 67,667Timing... It will all depend on the streaming. Will go down for BL, also the airplay.

How long has BL been #1 in airplay? Officially, since for the 7/27 Hot 100. A glance at that thread reveals that it hit #1 shortly into that week.
