Digital Songs Update:Over on the Digital Songs chart, Katy Perry's "Roar" bows at No. 1 with a whopping 557,000 downloads. Last week's No. 1 Digital Song, Thicke's "Blurred Lines" (featuring. T.I. and Pharrell), falls to No. 2 with 291,000 (down 16%). Hmm minor setback. Maybe all 15 million streams are from the US?

Call me a troll but 218,000 for Gaga's debut week is the most spectacular flop I've seen in a LONG time.

218k is not normally disappointing, but for Gaga's first week it is.

Using today's mediabase numbers and multiplying by 0.81 to get BDS: PointsKaty = 557k sales/12 (46417) +62m AI/7500 (8373) = 54790Robin = 291k sales/12 (24250) + 229m AI/7500 (30542)= 54792She just needs a small streaming advantage
Ariana Grande - The Way (feat. Mac Miller - 219,000 Lady Gaga - Applause - 218,000 Demi Lovato - Heart Attack - 215,000 Miley Cyrus - We Can't Stop - 214,000 Ouch

Katy didnt do as well as many 'here' predicted but beat BB estimations by a bit though Robin did a bit better than I thought he would. Looked likehe was gonna be around 10k-20k less. I think he def. stablizied and started to even climb mid week if Im not mistaken. Next week I think his sales may really start to take a hit BUT airplay (so far) is refusing to truly let the song go. I'm w/ the majority that Robin prob. squeaked it out only due to his still insane airplay. On a typical week Katy hands down woulda had #1. Also, if she wouldve sold 600-650k+ she couldve possibly been a shoe in for #1. Could be wrong but I'd think it wouldve already all over the internet if Katy got #1. *Someone* out there knows. Id love Robin to get the most weeks at #1 for a single but dunno how its possible now if Katy has a minimal decline in sales, continues getting massive airplay updates while Robin starts to have dramatic falls.

218k is not normally disappointing, but for Gaga's first week it is. yep, thats def. below what BB initially predicted right? Pretty sure they said around 225-250k min. Not looking good so far. Any boost will prob. just be from performances, promo etc..but not 'cause of the song itself. Its ALL about debut weeks from established mega A list singers like Gaga, Katy, Rihanna etc...

unfreakin believable re: Robins continued 1+ million updates!! I know its gonna change soon but he's still 200+ million ahead of Katy lol. If this was 10 years ago chart formula (mainly airplay only) hands down Robin woulda gotten the most weeks at #1. He also had a shot pre 2013 (new, updated chart formula) when it was still just sales and airplay.

I can't at '"Blurred Lines." Im prob. one of the very few still rooting for this song just cause I like it better than Roar and I'm actually not burnt out on it yet (again Im in the minority) lol. Even when it has a 'slow' day or negative update its minimal at the most- only to come back with a 1+ million update! lol Even if he doesnt get most weeks at #1 on the Hot 100, he may get the record for most weeks at #1 on radio. I reeally like Katy but am not feeling Roar. No doubt I'm gonna like her future singles from the album. With Teenage Dream I preferred some of the last few singles than earlier ones lol.

^ lol no it simply came back strong out of nowhere on most of the formats- but even when it was starting to slow down, still was def. growing on AC which will prob. continue to be its firewall for several weeks to come.

Wasn't Iris #1 for like 18 weeks? No way any song will do that again, even Blurred Lines imo. If we are talking combined BDS numbers, then maybe although I'm not sure the data goes back very far?

Im also amazed at what a smash Treasure turned out to be. Was really looking dicey for a while but theres a very good chance its gonna peak at #3 on overall radio and top 5 on pop and was a solid BB Top 5. I think its close to selling 1.5 million, so it may get to 2 million. Basically it exceeded what I thought it would do and then some. It def. wasnt as instant for many people and radio (prob. due to its totally 1979/ disco funksound) but ended up maintaining his streak of mega hits.

I was fine with I Gotta Feeling reaching 14 weeks because it is one of those songs I feel will never get old. This one got old very fast and really just needs to die.

I think IGF is a song that's this dated/ 2009 sounding, overrated, cliche cheesy party song aura to it. BL has more of a simple production, melody, lyrics and is a total jam that could be from any era.

Yes, maybe for certain artists (like Rihanna) but not others. Def. Gaga, Madonna, Britney, JLo and others are hype machines and the public/media zones in them much more so the 'expectations' are def. higher. Katy and Rihanna come across less publicity seeking, focusing on image etc...than the others. They simply put out music and all the other stuff seems more secondary.

Has anyone expected her to get a hit since 2005? On the Floor was a true surprise hit imo. (a bit off topic but Gaga and J Lo have nothing in common)

Totally... Blurred Lines is basically HOT... I Gotta Feeling in the other hand... WOW!! What annoying song With you totally. Boom Boom Pow I actually still find way more fresh and less tired than IGF lol. Perhaps it ended up less overplayed and less of a 'cliche party song' (like I said) Again, IGF is at a point now if you're at a club, bar etc.and its comes on, it's like WTH/ rolling your eyes..."why is this DJ still spinning this seriously tired, burnt to a crisp, 4+ year old song". Let it at least sit on a re charger for at least 5 years lol. Back to topic- so is BB purposely making people wait this long? Or is it THAT close that theyre still adding everything up to make sure? I think it's the first :/.
