The safest choice. Not thrilled with it, but I do like the song.

Why would they wait an entire month with HGTFM falling soooo rapidly?

The news posted on AllAboutCountry.com today said next month, meaning March I assume.

Awesome news! I know Reba and MCA played it safe, but to boost sales I think this was the best choice - it should be nearing the top 10 around Mother's Day.

Apparently this will be the final single from Room To Breathe as a new article talking about XM's radio's country programming mentions this:
In early fall 2005, XM will honor Reba McEntire, broadcasting a complete musical retrospective of her career. XM will play every Reba McEntire record leading up to the release of her new album, also premiering on XM.

That's interesting. I'm glad to see we're getting new Reba (it'll be 2 years since RTB was released in the fall), but there are so many great songs left to release on the album. I guess Reba's not going with her plan of 8 singles from this CD.
"My Sister" is taking off nicely and should enter both charts next week (if not this week on Billboard).

Sounds like sh*t. Reba has been making the most boring songs lately. But it'll probably still go number one because her label definately knows how to pay programmers.

But it'll probably still go number one because her label definately knows how to pay programmers. The only female with even the slightest chance of automatically going #1 is Gretchen. This isn't my favorite from Reba, but Room To Breathe is a strong album, this single should connect, and hopefully it will do well for her.

Reba sings WAY too many ballads...needs to kick it up a few notches.
You guys get on Martina singing sappy boring songs, but yet you just LOVE Reba....what's the diff? At least Martina has a good voice...Reba lost hers long ago.

Both "Somebody" and "My Sister" are midtempos and "I'm Gonna Take That Mountain" is uptempo.

I dont consider Somebody midtempo and granted Mountain was uptempo, it was released quite a while back and she needs something upbeat.
That's what I'm talking about.

Somebody isn't a ballad in the sense that In My Daughter's Eyes, How Far, and God's Will are. Not to mention the uptempo song Reba released faired worse than the two slower ones. The same thing happened with her last studio album where the two slower singles did better than "We're So Good Together." Radio doesn't seem as responsive to her uptempo numbers.

At first Mark Wills didnt have any success with uptempo songs at radio though until the release of 19 somethin' which turned out to be his biggest hit.

I don't know that that's a fair comparison simply because her uptempos don't completely bomb. They still go Top 20, they just have recently had trouble reaching the Top 5/10. Plus, she's had a ton of uptempo hits in the past. Her last uptempo Top 10 was "One Honest Heart."

The past is just that....the past....she still needs to release uptempo songs to keep radio and fans interested. Sorry, but I just can't stand you guys being hypocritical and thinking things that are ok for one artist, arent ok for another.

I don't see how Reba, someone who's had a ton of uptempo hits before is comparable to Mark Wills who had never really had one prior to "19 Somethin" (unless you count "Jacob's Ladder"). And again to my ears "My Sister" and "Somebody" don't sound anything like Wills' or McBride's piano ballads. I think I lost sight of your argument anyway. What was it, that Reba should release uptempo songs because they'd do better, or because you'd like them better?

This song is okay. It is not one of my favorite Reba tunes, but it isn't one of her worst either.

Debuts this wekk at #50 on R&R. Her site is reporting that it's #56 on Billboard, but I'm not sure if that's where it moves to this week, or it's incorrectly reporting last week's position.

Hard to account for Reba's site's chart positions, isn't it? Could they be using spins, not audience? Whatever they're doing, in real life Reba is at #57 on the 3/26 BB chart. They get credit for being in the neighborhood.

I never know whether or not to trust Reba's site about chart positions, since they seem to be wrong about half the time.
