By how many points did Katy beat Robin this week? Also is there any chance at all if her sales fall enough he could return to #1 at some point if his sales and airplay drops stabilize? "Roar" led "Blurred Lines" in sales by more than 80%, and so far this week the lead is around 100%. Last week "Blurred Lines" led "Roar" by 108 M AI and by the end of Tuesday its' lead will have shrunk to 80M or so (that is my guess). So unless something unexpected happens in streaming, "Roar" has no worries about losing its' #1 spot.

I am not bitter about anything, I just believe the artists so many seem to be obsessed about really are not great artists. I am not a fan of most american singers, their vocal abilities are far from good. Avicii and Lorde may not have their best songs smashing , but at least they can sing LIVE. I jumped on the Lady Gaga bandwagon long before Just Dance hit on radio and now she is just boring. Never been a Rihanna fan and Katy Perry, britney spears just have never done it for me. I would rather listen to frogs in a pond than any of them.

The fact that they might not be able to sing live (for you) doesn't mean they're not great artists in general. Live singing is one aspect but there are many more things to take into consideration before diminishing someone's artistry. They might not be of your own taste and that's totally fine but that's irrelevant when it comes to criticizing an artist.

I rarely ever listen to the radio. I'm just comparing Katy's new song to Wake Me Up. Maybe it'll grow on me. I listen mainly to Amos Lee kinda music. Some top 40. Some punk. but I could care less about gaga rihanna brittney...etc. I just like following the charts. Thought I'd grow out of it but nope.

Avicii ... can sing LIVE. Do you even know who Avicii is? He doesn't sing a note, he's a producer.

I do know Avicii is a DJ...and even the no names he has singing the lyrics on his songs are better than artists mentioned....I dont dislike Gaga, or Katy (I do despise Rihanna and Britney though)..I just find it silly that it seems only certain female artists are talked about like crazy on here... There are 40 songs in the TOP 40, and sometimes it has 40 different artists. Yet when someone speaks of anyone besides these dumb broads people take offense. People such as Joss Stone, Delta Goodrem, Alexandra Burke and even Anastacia should be making history on american charts but people rather settle for mediocre pop singers...it's really sad.

Um... welcome to Pulse. It's filled with a bunch of gays that stan over female artists. Not everyone is like that, but that demographic makes up the majority. There are 40 songs in the TOP 40, and sometimes it has 40 different artists. Yet when someone speaks of anyone besides these dumb broads people take offense. No one takes offense, what are you even talking about? You do know that none of those artists release their music to the states, right?

Actually all of Joss Stones albums have been released in the states...both Delta and Anastacia have released albums here back in the early 2000's. The thing about people taking offense when you bad mouth one of their so-called divas, they do...I've had messages tellin me to shut up and get out of the thread. I know it's hard to deal with the truth that these women really aren't as good as you think. They may have alot of hits under their belt , but how many will be remembered 20, 30 or 40 years from now?

Oh westlife4eva, I didn't know you were still around. I see you're still singing the same songs you were singing in 2013. Can we not go down this road again? So many divas who are tired of your broken record. :'( 9/17/88 01 01 Sweet Child O' Mine - Guns N' Roses (2nd and final week at #1) These were the good days...when good music was still charting I loved all the charts from 1987 to 1990 and then they all went downhill from there. The 80's were definitely the best decade of music... . 1988 was the BEST year in MUsic . Every artist on there could sing LIVE and had a on going career forever...a couple are still around today. I can't say the same for most artists out today. Once again 1988 had the best TOP 10, 1983 comes in second.... and Once again...the 1988 chart is still the best with 1983 coming in second. I wish it was either 1984 or 1989 again..both those charts are amazing! I have most of those songs either on 45 or 12" single...for those who dont know those are vinyl records. The 1984 and 1989 charts were the best. Except that Tone Loc song....but every week of every year there has been at least 1 horrible song. 1984 had my genius IDOL Boy George at #1. The 1989 chart was the best. I think I have all those songs on 45 or 12" single. I really liked the charts back in 1987 thru 1990 which i have stated before. Large turnovers of #1's and songs left the chart after 16 weeks or less. The 1989 chart is Priceless. Love every single song on it. Including Milli Vanilli. March 18, 1989 01 01 Lost In Your Eyes - Debbie Gibson (3rd and final week at #1) Great Top 10 Love all the songs DO YOU HONEY dont listen to people on this board, speak your mind and f**k em. You dont have to explain to markg why or why you dont like anything. #bullies. Thank you for this. I do always speak my mind about everything. We all have our own tastes in music. In 20 years maybe I will add some of these horrible songs to my playlists as I have with some of the stuff I didn't listen to in the 80's and 90's. There will always be an artist of song I dont like and as this board continues I will continue to comment on these songs that I feel are a waste of airtime on the radio and a waste of brain cells people lose listening to them.

We're literally revisiting the past. Haha. For real tho Old-school 72 - my unsolicited advice is to focus on talking about the acts and music you actually like in their respective threads, instead of coming into all the popular threads spewing all this blanket negativity - where everyone is discussing today's hits and nobody is living in the past. I get that nostalgia takes over sometimes and mid-life setting in can cause a little bitterness, but spreading negativity in threads full of people who DO like today's pop music doesn't do a lick of good. It's utterly pointless, actually, unless you're just looking for attention. So ask yourself, what's your motivation for saying how terrible today's music is in a forum full of mostly younger people who love it? Nothing will compare to my 80s and 90s music days, but I can still get into a lot of today's stuff. I don't need to drag it - I can still love my "musical prime" catalog of music just the same. In reality, it's probably only "better" because I was younger then and it's nostalgic. Nothing will ever seem as good, even though there was plenty of crap then too.

I showed a bunch of my friends and they were laughing too much. If I had to nitpick your fabulous work, it would be to swap the Nickelodeon Ariana for Katy Perry! Or just omit her in general, if you were indeed shading Katy. And @broccoli thank you for once again articulating coherently what I'm thinking but struggle to put into words. I always enjoy your contributions.

The date of this thread was my 23rd birthday. What are the chances of that, eh?
