Weird to see it doing well on airplay, but can't crack Top 40 on H100. Second time it has hit 41. Will it happen this week?

Surprised Gaga is still doing so well.
Really want Selena to go Top 20.
And someone posted the other day how there really are no songs blowing up right now outside the top 10, except for Miley.
Wonder what new song will come soon and blow up, hope this isn't the top 20 between now and the freeze.

There will be followup singles for three big females out right now (Perry, Gaga, Spears), so possibly one of those, or some newbie who breaks out.

^And Eminem's 2nd single. One Direction's single... Mariah's new single... Eminem didn't even hot 40 million with Berzerk, so we'll see how much airplay he can get with the next one. Mariah sounds like a facebook/fan single, so that's up in the air. 1D, have they ever had major airplay, I know they can kill it in sales, but airplay?

I remember WMYB being their only big airplay hit
Katy Perry is the only one mentioned who gets top ten airplay hits with each release.

I know it was posted a few weeks ago, but how does this airplay total compare to Gaga's other songs? It's actually on the verge of having her highest Mediabase total, isn't it?
Would love to know if it's the same situation on BDS.

areyouready, out of those three, One Direction probably would have the most potential (at least initially, with sales). Eminem's latest isn't a supersized hit, though it's doing well. As for Mimi Carey, if her single can do as well as the last one, that would be good for her.
There's also Justin Bieber, if one of his many tracks get the full-on single treatment.

So the only difference between this weeks top ten and last weeks top 10 is the fox making the top 5. Unless bilboard changes the formula (again) so digital is 80% of a songs points from now on, even though this makes sense it probably wont happen

^That makes no sense at all. People are moving away from digital sales and to streaming methods. I think that should count at least as much as sales.

www.billboard.com/articles/news/5755773/miley-cyrus-bangerz-debuts-at-no-1-on-billboard-200Over on the Digital Songs chart, Lorde continues to reign with "Royals," selling another 294,000 downloads (down 5%). Katy Perry's "Roar" is steady at No. 2 with 195,000 (down 10%), and Avicii's "Wake Me Up!" rises 4-3 with 160,000 (down 4%). Cyrus' "Wrecking Ball" slips 3-4 with 128,000 and a decline of 40%. Its sales erosion is owed to iTunes' consumers who opted to complete their "Bangerz" album by upgrading their earlier "Wrecking Ball" sale to an album purchase. Effectively, customers who completed their album were returning a song, thus amplifying the sales decline for "Ball" this week. Justin Bieber's "Heartbreaker" zooms from No. 22 to No. 5 after a full week's worth of sales. It jumps from 55,000 to 127,000. (The song was released Sunday, Oct. 6, about an hour before the end of the previous week's tracking period. That's why it debuted a week early.) The song is the first offering in Bieber's Music Mondays series, which is scheduled for 10 consecutive weeks of new song releases every Monday. Drake's "Hold On, We're Going Home" falls one rung to No. 6 with 121,000 (down 7%), and Eminem's "Survival" bows at No. 7 with 117,000, marking the second top 10 debut from the hip-hop icon's forthcoming album. It follows "Berzerk," which started at No. 2 with 362,000 in September. Both cuts are from "The Marshall Mathers LP 2" album, due Nov. 5. Next week we will see the presumed lofty arrival of another pre-release cut from the album, "Rap God." Ylvis' viral video turned hit single, "The Fox," rises 12-8 on Digital Songs with 108,000 (up 25%) while Lady Gaga's "Applause" is stationary at No. 9 with 100,000 (down 9%). Jay Z's "Holy Grail," featuring Timberlake, descends four slots to No. 10 with 98,000 (down 17%). Digital track sales this past week totaled 19.78 million downloads, down less than 1% compared with last week (19.81 million) and down 10% stacked next to the comparable week of 2012 (22.1 million). Year-to-date track sales are at 1.01 million, down 4% compared with the same total at this point last year (1.05 million).

That Complete-My-Album feature looks to have more impact on some tracks than others. In some weeks, we've singles that were part of a pre-order that don't really see negative results. Wonder why that is.

For Complete My Album, I wonder if it matters if the song was originally sold as a single vs. being sold as a cut on the album pre-order. You get the Complete My Album feature either way, but I wonder if it's tracked differently?

Nice to see the confirmation that sales from 11pm to Midnight eastern are not included in the "new" week, but still confused about time zones, because even if it was released at Midnight, it's only 9pm on the west coast. I will be forever confused. lol

I know that it is usual in mid-late Fall that the digital single sales start drop significantly, but this is just painful to see. :( 128,000 for #3 on Digital Songs... and #4 debut with 127,000...

55,000 in one hour vs 127,000 in 168 hours. Was there a "pre-order" feature? IOW - Biebs single was available earlier on Sunday and people purchased it, but then received it at 11 PM ET when released. That would explain the huge front-loading.

1d's album sales are great , but besides the first few weeks , their single sales , besides what makes you beautiful , aren't great . Basically their singles barely get over the 1 million mark

Lorde's "Royals" commands the Billboard Hot 100 for a third week, Ylvis' "The Fox" darts to the Digital Songs top 10 and Justin Bieber and Eminem soar into the Hot 100's top 20.
As we do every Wednesday, let's break down the Hot 100's top 10 and more.
"Royals" crowns the subscription services-based On-Demand Songs chart with 2.8 million on-demand U.S. streams, according to Nielsen BDS (up 1%). The activity helps keep the cut at its No. 3 peak to date on the overall Streaming Songs chart (8 million U.S. streams, up 5%).
"Royals" tops Digital Songs for a fourth week with 293,000 downloads sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan. It pushes closer to the Radio Songs chart's summit, bulleting at No. 2 with an 11% gain to 158 million audience impressions, according to BDS.
"Royals" leads the Hot Rock Songs chart for a seventh week.
Lorde's breakthrough smash fends off Miley Cyrus' resurgent "Wrecking Ball," which swings 3-2 with top Airplay Gainer honors. The former two-week No. 1 rises 10-9 on Radio Songs, soaring by 27% to 82 million. After a dip to No. 2 last week, "Ball" rebounds back to the top for a fourth week atop Streaming Songs (13 million, up 14%)
As previously reported, Cyrus' debut RCA album "Bangerz" debuts at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 270,000 copies sold. "Ball" drops 3-4 on Digital Songs (which it led four weeks ago) with 182,000 downloads sold, a 40% decline; its sales slide is owed to iTunes' customers who opted to "complete" the "Bangerz" album by upgrading their earlier purchase of "Ball" to a full album. Effectively, consumers who completed the album were returning a song, thus augmenting the song's sales drop this week. (For the purposes of Hot 100 rankings, aggregate sales and returns contribute to the song's overall point total.)
"Ball" nearly knocked "Royals" from the top of the Hot 100. With "Royals" down by less than 1% in overall Hot 100 points and "Ball" up by 17%, the songs are separated just a 4% margin.
Katy Perry's former two-week Hot 100 No. 1 "Roar" slips 2-3. It spends a fourth frame atop Radio Songs (162 million, down 3%), holds at No. 2 on Digital Songs (195,000, down 10%) and rebounds 5-4 on Streaming Songs (5.8 million, down 6%).
Avicii's "Wake Me Up!" holds at its No. 4 peak on the Hot 100. It remains at its No. 3 highpoint on Radio Songs (133 million, up 5%) and returns to its best rank (4-3) on Digital Songs, despite a 4% decline to 160,000. As previously reported, "Wake" takes over atop the adult alternative Triple A airplay chart. It dominates Dance/Electronic Songs for a sixth week.
Drake's "Hold On, We're Going Home" (featuring Majid Jordan) stays at No. 5 on the Hot 100. It reaches the Streaming Songs top five (7-5; 5.3 million, up 4%) and climbs 5-4 on Radio Songs (125 million, up 2%). It tops Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs for a third week.
Ylvis' whimsical romp "The Fox" bullets for a second week at No. 6 on the Hot 100 and ascends to the Digital Songs top 10 (12-8; 108,000, up 25%). It drops to No. 2 after a week at No. 1 on Streaming Songs (11.2 million, down 5%) but debuts at No. 50 on On-Demand Songs (593,000, up 5%). While it's far from reaching Radio Songs, now that it's being promoted to pop radio by Warner Bros., "The Fox" swells by 29% to 1.8 million in audience at the format.
Jay Z's "Holy Grail" (featuring Justin Timberlake) is a non-mover at No. 7 on the Hot 100. It tallies an 11th week at No. 1 on Rap Songs.
Lady Gaga's No. 4-peaking "Applause" rises 9-8 on the Hot 100. It rallies 19-12 on Streaming Songs (2.9 million, up 8%) and lifts 9-7 on Radio Songs (90 million, up 7%).
Rounding out the Hot 100's top 10, Robin Thicke's former 12-week No. 1 and top song of the summer "Blurred Lines" (featuring T.I. and Pharrell) drops 8-9 and Lana Del Rey & Cedric Gervais' No. 6-peaking "Summertime Sadness" holds at No. 10.
Just outside the Hot 100's top tier, Justin Bieber's "Heartbreaker" blasts 77-13 as the chart's top Digital Gainer. On Digital Songs, it rockets 22-5 after a full week of sales (127,000, up 131%). (The song was released on Sunday, Oct. 6, about an hour before the end of that week's tracking period, enabling its Digital Songs debut last week.) "Heartbreaker" is the first song in Bieber's "Music Mondays" series, which is scheduled to run for 10 weeks with a new song to be released each Monday.
Eminem, meanwhile, debuts at No. 17 on the Hot 100 with "Survival." It starts on Digital Songs at No. 7 with 117,000. It follows "Berzerk," which opened at No. 3 on the Hot 100 and No. 2 on Digital Songs with 362,000 last month. Both songs introduce "The Marshall Mathers LP 2," due Nov. 5.
YAAAAAAASSS! :) I didn't expect Miley above Katy. "The Fox" can die now, please.
