^Yes- even into the 90s, credits were lax. The 2000s, however, credits/featurings started getting craaazzzyyyy. :)

Over on the Digital Songs chart, Pitbull's "Timber" (featuring Ke$ha), jumps to No. 1 for the first time, selling 237,000 downloads (up 43%). Last week, the song was ranked at No. 4. It's the first No. 1 on the Digital Songs chart for Pitbull, who previously went as high as No. 2 with three different tunes: "I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho)," his featured turn on Jennifer Lopez's "On the Floor," and "Give Me Everything." For Ke$ha, "Timber" is her third No. 1, and first since 2010's "We R Who We R" debuted atop the list. "Timber," like many songs on the chart this week, benefit from performances on the "American Music Awards" (AMAs), which took place on Sunday, Nov. 24.
Last week's leader, Eminem's "The Monster," featuring Rihanna, falls to No. 2 with 231,000 (down 4%).
The AMAs also help A Great Big World's "Say Something," featuring Christina Aguilera, which climbs 6-3 with 197,000 (up 63%). Also seeing AMAs-related bumps in the top 10: One Direction's "Story of My Life," which re-enters at No. 7 with 118,000 and Miley Cyrus' "Wrecking Ball," which climbs 10-9 with 99,000 (up 11%).
Elsewhere in the top 10, OneRepublic's "Counting Stars" dips 3-4 with 175,000 (up 5%) and Lorde's "Royals" slips 2-5 with 144,000 (down 19%). Imagine Dragons' "Demons" falls one rung to No. 6 with 124,000 (down 1%) and Passenger's "Let Her Go" descends a slot to no. 8 with 115,000 (down 1%). Katy Perry's "Roar" rounds out the top 10, falling one position to No. 10, with just under 99,000 (down less than 1%).
Digital track sales this past week totaled 20.86 million downloads, up 7% compared with last week (19.52 million) and down 6% stacked next to the comparable week of 2012 (22.15 million). Year to date track sales are at 1.16 billion, down 4% compared to the same total at this point last year (1.21 billion).

"The Monster" has a bigger airplay lead than "Timber" has in sales, so it comes down to streaming.

How much of a threat is "Wrecking Ball" because of that Chat Roulette video?

^Depends on the change in the weight given to streaming. It's pretty far behind those two in sales.

How much of a threat is "Wrecking Ball" because of that Chat Roulette video? Big. That video combined with its VMA performance video add up to around 70 million views. Then there's both of its videos too. Obviously, not all 70+ million are from the US, but it's still a very significant amount that can easily push it back to #1 this week. "Timber" is not a threat for #1 this week. It's essentially "The Monster" vs. "Wrecking Ball" for this week. Then "Timber" vs. "The Monster" next week. "The Monster" will get #1 when its video is released, though. You know everyone's going to want to see the new Eminem and Rihanna video.

^Make that AMA performance, Aérop. ;) I know it was buzzy, but didn't know it was getting a lot of hits on YouTube?
Ghost- someone mentioned that BB lessened streaming's weight (that it was mentioned in the publication- haven't seen anything online, though).

By what time usually do they reveal the #1 song? As has been said here, if Wrecking Ball was returning to #1 due to an insane amount of streams (*and after several weeks*) I would think BB wouldve made mention or hinted something somewhere by now.

Monster 'may' get #1 this week but if not, its still way ahead in airplay and about equal in sales to Timber (as both versions of The Monster are basically tied w/ Timber for #1 currently on iTunes) so its pretty much a guarantee next week (even w/out the video) but if the video comes out very soon that'll just be icing to guarantee #1.

I'm really hoping WB gets another week at #1. The MV is still the most watched after Bound 2 and that parody sure racked up so many views. I wonder if that would be enough, then Timver and Monster can fight for next week

What about "Royals"? a chance for a 10th week at #1?

What about "Royals"? a chance for a 10th week at #1? I don't think it's possible . The difference last week is just 0.4% and now the sales & airplay gap became wider. The competition now is between Wrecking Ball and The Monster.

I hope Wrecking Ball isn't #1 based on some lame fan video. If it is then Billboard needs to reevaulate how they come up with their numbers. I don't see Wrecking Ball as the most popular song this week.

Keith Caulfield and Gary Trust are tweeting up a storm about this week's number one, with Gary retweeting a fan who guessed that "Wrecking Ball" had gone back to the top. No official announcement yet but it looks like Miley took back the top spot.

Who cares if Rihanna gets another #1 when it won't be for her as a lead artist?
