Yeah, Erin- by "original," I meant the ones actually sung in the movies, not the made-for-radio versions. :)

So, wait, other than "Hakunah Matata" making it to #5 on the Bubbling Under chart, no other Disney song has made it to the Hot 100 before "Let It Go"? :o
Yay Frozen! :'(
I guess it makes sense if you think about it. Were the original versions of those songs ever released to be purchased separately from their soundtracks? I'm sure very few of them actually gained any airplay as well. So chalk this up as a great side effect of the digital/streaming age. Tangled is really the only other Disney musical to be released since the digital/streaming age took over, and while "I See the Light" was critically acclaimed and has been added to the repertoire of amazing Disney songs, it never really caught on all at once, mainly due to Tangled having to be the film to drag Walt Disney Studios back into the limelight again. Wreck-It Ralph and Winnie the Pooh didn't have any music, so that left Frozen as the first true opportunity for Disney to score in the digital/streaming age.

Phil Collins' "You'll Be In My Heart" is played at the end credits of Disney's "Tarzan". The song charted at #21 in 1999.

The Hakuna Matata which got to #105 was not from the Lion King movie, it debuted a year later and was by Lebo M and Jimmy Cliff; a reggae version.
Wonder how many old school Disney songs made the Hot 100:
I know Mary Poppins' "SuperCalli, etc" did.

Erin- did ya read my post from earlier? You may have to go back to Mary Poppins to find a song from an animated/part-animated Disney film, sung by one of the characters, that charted on the Hot 100. Singles from live-action movies like Hannah Montana and High School Musical 3 charted. The digital age definitely has made it easier for something like "Let it Go" (Idina M's version) to chart.

what about that 1/2 real 1/2 cartoon movie w/ Amy someone a few years ago. Her song charted I'm pretty sure.

Do you mean "Enchanted"? Doesn't look like any of her recordings charted on the Hot 100.

Will Diddy's "Coming Home" re-chart this week? It's used in this video and it's gotten quite a lot of views already:
