Thank you George for taking Broccoli's torch and holding the forum. Honestly, thank you so much.

Thank you George for taking Broccoli's torch and holding the forum. Honestly, thank you so much. Well actually, he's not holding the forum. He's keeping the Y-E predictions alive and well. But yeah, I get what you mean --- Anyways... George, as others have said, you did a great job with the predictions this year. It must be really time-consuming to do the points for all 100 songs. Let's hope for a great year of both music and predicting (and also life in general) in 2017!

I joined Pulse in May. I wasn't here at the beginning of the year, so I don't know what normally goes on. What happens after a year wraps up? I'm guessing the points reset. The points going towards this year's chart are gathered from all the points songs got from the first chart week of December 2015 to the last week of this month. Next year's chart will do the same but instead combine all the points from the first week of December 2016 until the last week of November 2017 and so on :) Why do they stop in November and not in December?

Next year's chart will do the same but instead combine all the points from the first week of December 2016 until the last week of November 2017 and so on :) Why do they stop in November and not in December? On Wikipedia, it says: "Billboard's "chart year" runs from the first Billboard "week" of December to the final week in November, but because the Billboard week is dated in advance of publication, the last calendar week for which sales are counted is usually the third week in November. This altered calendar allows for Billboard to calculate year-end charts and release them in time for its final print issue in the last week of December." Hope this answers your question.

Heh, Let It Go and Tiimmy Turner are opposite chart runs. One had 34 peak 16 weeks, the other 16 peak and 34 weeks!

Thanks George for putting forth all the time and energy into this; I don't even have the patience to do it for one week!!
The one wild card in all of this though is if the formula change early in the year arbitrarily increased or decreased the baseline points a lot for all songs going forward and if they don't adjust for this. This has happened several times in the past ten or so years, I remember most noticeably in 2007, where mid-year they basically reduced the sales component by half, so many songs that charted mainly towards the end of that year ended up a lot lower on the year-end list than you would have thought.
If something like this happens this year, it could potentially cost Bieber one or both of the top two spots (or maintain his hold on them if the change works in his favor), plus various other shake-ups, though maybe not a whole lot because the formula change came just a couple months into the chart year, wasn't it around January?

The formula was changed (to decrease the impact of streams) after the first 10 weeks of the chart tracking year had passed, so it shouldn't affect the year-end results as much as that mid-year alteration.

Black Beatles has finally grown on me. It's actually one of the better Hip-Hop hits we've got this year, along with Broccoli.
I have a slight feeling Closer is not finished, it's still gaining and The Chainsmokers just performed at the AMA's. I think it may retake #1 from BB next week, and also may reign for weeks after that. I hope so. I don't hate BB, but I find Closer more enjoyable and would like the song to rank high on 2017's YE list. Things are getting interesting....

BB's streaming is too massive for Closer to go back.

Predictions for songs currently in danger of getting stuck between years: The greatest:didn't have too many weeks taken from it and is still gaining,so if it peaks late and has decent longevity (both are common for sia songs) it should make it. Peak would probably be 15-11 imo. Ooouuu:since vine hits almost never last more than 20 weeks and this song isn't quite gaining,it looks like it'll pull a blame. Blue ain't your color:country is practically banned from the year end at this point, and a song with 9 wasted weeks probably won't be an exception. Chill bill:my guess is it would last 27-30 weeks, peak in top 15,and would make the 80's on the year end. Do you mind:will make top 20 in a couple of weeks and easily make year end. In the name of love:if it's anything like the other world hits that come late to the USA,it should start sinking pretty soon.

Hey everyone I got good news. This may be the future channel that could start doing Weekly Hot 100 videos along with many more. I know many of you cant stand Jillboard, so I guess this is it.
It all started with BillBoardGoddess. then 5thCent took over. then HrChart took over. And chance may be Mark Oswalt takes over very soon too. Even commented saying he should do Weekly Hot 100 videos. Idk.

Trying to convince Mark Oswalt to do Weekly Hot 100s, he said he thought about it but recommended us to Testee top 50. Testee does top 50 not top 100 so it is boring. I hope my convincing works. You guys can help me convince him. If you watch the video and see the comments you can see me asking him to do it, and then he replied too, etc.

I guess we're using this thread for the following year, then. Just something I wanted to say, many of the posts here appear to be more fit for the weekly hot 100 threads so it'd be great for you guys to go there so that this thread won't become as "full." Anyway, here's the 1st week chart! I realize the new header layout kinda looks similar to MTS's Kworb updates but I couldn't find any other way to make it look as good imo. I've decided to use the (Sales/9.5 + Airplay/10500 + Streams/1200) formula for now, so in order to compare between this year and the last you'll have to multiply these numbers by ~1.028. This makes the approximate cutoff 147.6k - I'll be calling it the "150k club" this year.
