Any reason why your playlist has Lady Gaga Speechless instead of Dan+Shay Speechless?

Most songs have pretty solid points despite peaking below Top 20, like Baby Shark (#32), Close to Me and Be Alright (both #23), Look Back at It (#27), and You Say (#29).

OT Road’s the most iconic chart legend since I was born. Glad it’s really going there.

When I look at OTR's numbers, I think about Harlem Shake, Hello, CITW... it's like every week it's gonna break a record. I really hope it's able to break the all-time record for most weeks at #1, eve though it's too early to predict things like this.

I just noticed something strange. The week before Ariana's album bomb had Speechless by Dan + Shay at 22 weeks (it dropped out the next week). When I look at the song's chart history now it says 23 weeks. Could it have actually recharted? If so then it is pretty much locked.

Despacito's number one run was pretty cool, I remember how exciting it was once we started counting down to 17 only for Look What You Made Me Do to swoop in at the last moment. We're at 9 now with Old Town Road so it's still a long way off. If it falls like In My Feelings did it could easily end up with a very respectable but not record-breaking 13 or 14 weeks.

Really hope speechless drops back out soon because we need Dan + Shay to be the kings of the mid-90s on the YE chart.

Most songs have pretty solid points despite peaking below Top 20, like Baby Shark (#32), Close to Me and Be Alright (both #23), Look Back at It (#27), and You Say (#29). Comes to show that longevity can trump peak position as several songs that have debuted higher won't make it due to lack of longevity.

Month 6, May 2019
Yes I know it’s technically June, but I’m still going to cover the June 1st Hot 100, which covered chart activity in late May. I was originally going to get this forecast done earlier in the week, but then my computer died. It’s fine though, it should be fixed in time for the June forecast, and obviously I managed to get this forecast out as well. Better late than never I suppose.
Two changes from previous months: One, I will no longer include the New Songs to Watch Out For category. Any new songs from the month will automatically be sorted into the category I think they’d fit the best in. Two, there will be a new category for songs that dropped out over the month that I’ve previously discussed, and whether or not I think they’ll make it.
It has come to my attention that Speechless is now getting pushed to mainstream pop radio, and has even made an appearance on the pop charts as of late. I haven’t seen the recurrent charts myself, but considering how it’s performing on the genre charts and radio, it very well might reappear on the charts, maybe even as early as next week once the album bomb songs are gone. If Speechless can re-chart, even for 1 week at #50, then all of the sudden it has much greater odds at getting onto the YE. If it fails to return however, I think it’s safe to assume that it will miss the YE. What is it with Dan + Shay songs causing so much suspense on their Year-End chart placements?
The positions listed are where they were on the June 1st chart.
Guaranteed to make the YE:
I Don’t Care(#2, Despite the superstar team up this song has, I doubt it’ll be bigger than Shape of You or Despacito, but I expect it’ll still be at least a decent sized hit) Bad Guy(#3 and gaining, but with OTR firmly perched at the top of the chart, I think it’s unlikely to get to #1, still guaranteed for the YE at this point) Talk(#5 and gaining, this may even rise higher, and that combined with Khalid’s great longevity, this could be huge) ME!(#9 and declining, but there’s still enough time left in the year and in its chart run to guarantee it a spot on the YE) Suge(#14 and gaining fast, I expect it to crack the top 10 even(which it later did after I wrote this on Sunday)) If I Can’t Have You(#16 after falling slightly this week, however, Shawn Mendes is a perennial radio darling, so I can see this possibly rebounding back into the top 10) God’s Country(#24 and gaining, and if it can manage its way into the top 20, it has a strong chance at the YE.) Con Calma(#27 and rising, as well as a likely top 20 contender in my opinion. If the momentum continues it may even sneak into the top 10) Pure Water(#28 and only fell a slot due to debuts above it, it’s doing well all things considered) Look Back At It(#29 and gaining, has great longevity, and I can even see it getting into the top 20 possibly now that it’s getting a push on pop radio) When The Party’s Over(Holding strong at #40 thanks to a base of streaming and gradual radio gains. I doubt it’ll reach the top 20, but it’ll still make the YE regardless) Bury a Friend(On its way out at #55, yet it still got enough points earlier on to sneak in the lower reaches of the YE)
Likely to make the YE:
Whiskey Glasses(#26 and gaining. Not guaranteed since it’s relatively late in its run on the country charts and may get cycled out of country radio before it gets the chance to get enough points on the hot 100) Pop Out(#31 and rising, but at this point I’m not sure whether it’ll fly into the top 20 or suddenly sputter out and free fall) Act Up(#34 and mostly consistent. Unlike Twerk, this song seems to have the legs to last long enough to possibly get onto the YE, yet I doubt it’ll get any bigger than it has been)
Might Make the YE:
Truth Hurts(#38 and rising mostly off of streaming. It’s early in its run and very well could become a hit, but so far it’s both early in the run, relatively late in the chart year, and facing competition with Juice, so right now I’m not so sure) Here With Me(#48 and falling prematurely, although I could see it rebound if Happier starts to fall faster) Clout(#56 and slowly rising, although it has had a pretty rocky chart run so far, and staying consistent may not be enough to get on the YE considering that we’re relatively late into the year) Good as You(#37 and rising, yet also fairly long into its run on the country charts, so this could go either way depending on when it gets rotated out)
Unlikely to Make the YE:
Homicide(Both Logic and recent Eminem songs tend to have weak longevity, so I’m not that surprised that it’s falling off the charts so quick) Sanguine Paradise(Down to #63 and continuing to decline, and I see no indication that the trend will turn around) Boy With Luv(#71 and continuing to slowly decline despite reaching radio stability) Big Ole Freak(#72 and mostly stable, but still too low on the charts to seem like a likely candidate) Racks in the Middle(Continuing its slow decline at #75, but I suppose it still has a slight shot if it can recover) Earth(Continuing to fall off at #78 and realistically very unlikely to make the YE, but don’t count it out entirely; it got released to pop radio and might force itself onto the airwaves the same way Freaky Friday did) Don’t Call Me Up(Down to #79, as well as declining on the pop charts where it was performing best. Seems unlikely to make a recovery)
Too Early to Tell:
EARFQUAKE(Just debuted at #13, and I do expect it to start falling as its streaming declines, Nightmare(Just debuted at #15, and I’m not sure where this will land. Generally Halsey songs do well on radio, but this song isn’t that radio friendly, so it might not get the same mileage, still, it’s too soon to tell) The DJ Khaled Songs(They’re all over the place, as while some have potential to be radio hits, others are more geared to be radio powerhouses, and as they all just debuted, it’s hard to tell what will happen to any of them just yet. I expect Wish Wish, Higher, and Just Us to be the most likely hits) Somebody You Loved(#80 and rising, I can absolutely see this becoming a sizeable hit here just as it was in the UK, but so far it’s early in the run, and similar piano ballads that started as UK smashes are very hit-or-miss on whether or not they become hits here in the US)
Dropouts:
Close to Me(Fell off the week of May 25th, going to make the YE) Be Alright(Dropped off this week, going to make the YE) Baby Shark(Dropped off this week, going to make the YE) Tequila(Fell off the week of May 4th, borderline on whether or not it’ll make the YE) Swervin(Fell off the week of May 25th, going to make the YE) You Say(Fell off the week of May 25th, going to make the YE) Bad Liar(Fell off the week of May 11th, will miss the YE) I’ve Been Waiting(Fell off the week of May 25th, will miss the YE)

NRO #9 YE
Also a song could definitely be in the top 10 year end even if it were released in October.
Hello was #25 here after only 3 weeks on the chart.

Random question.
I see that yall have All I Want For Christmas with a decent amount of points for this year's year-end. With streaming growing a lot every year and AIWFC returning for a while each holiday season, could it possibly end up pretty high on the decade-end charts for the 2020s? (and maybe high on the all-time charts way in the future?)

Out of curiosity: what is the likelihood of OTR being #1 on the year-end?

It'll probably break the record for most weeks in the top 10 tbh. Crazy, because it probably doesn't make any year end chart haha

Imagine 20 years from here, AIWFC has around 15 weeks at #1 and 40+ weeks on the top 10

Something could always rise up and replace "All I Want For Christmas Is You" as THE holiday song... I don't think it'll happen, but nothing's certain, y'know?

Bold prediction time Old Town Road is gonna become the 6th song ever to be #1 song of the year and then repeat onto the next year. (at #72)
