German band with a rather large hit in Germany right now. Call me crazy, but I think if pushed this would do well in the US. It manages to bridge the gap between the folk-indie sound dominating Alternative radio right now, the poppier end of that ("Counting Stars") and Berlin's minimal tech house scene in the vein of legend Paul Kalkbrenner [in other words it's 'folktronica.' The real 'folktronica' and not the way Billboard uses the term sorry Pitbull]. It also conjured memories of late 90's/early 00's college jam bands imo. Would love to pick some brains on this one! This sounds like something Eagle Eye Cherry would release today if he was still releasing music.

This is pretty simplistic in theory, but still manages to be quite catchy. I think this could make some tread here in the US. I won't say a monstrous hit, but like I think it could make some decent tread generally speaking. allow that, I think you're pretty spot on about with the style fusions going on here too. The folk sound is the main foundation of the song, but there some minimal pop and electronic elements to it as well. No bells/whistles/crazy progressions here, but the light vibe of it all is still effective. Checked out "Down by the River" too and dig that as well. I'll have to cop their album soon and check it out in full.

I just want the authentic to prevail! I love that one too! My other favorite is "Fairytale." You know what, I ought to check out the album in full as well, ha.

Nice! Agreed with you both, allow that and horchata, about the genre and with Verisimilitude about the vocals being reminiscent of Eagle-Eye Cherry. I do think this kind of sound (along with the vaguely similar northern soul(?) sound of John Newman) will be more prominent next year. Going to have to check out this album!

So good! There are some parts that reminds me of "One Day / Reckoning Song" (Wankelmut Remix).

Top 10 in France and still blowing up. If the UK comes next, then MAYBE the US can finally come after that? This sounds like an improved version of the style that's in right now- it would only make sense. ETA: Hefty Hanna you may like.

It definitely sounds like a male version of "One Day" as even musically oblivious mum pointed out. I couldn't agree more. It became one of my favorite songs of 2014 so I'd be pleased if it turned out to be at least a moderate hit in the US. If "Wake Me Up" could do it, I don't see why this couldn't.
