Yeah, this turned out great... once I listened to it on my headphones, I was able to fully appreciate the vocal performance... Love it!

Definitely giving me major nostalgia listening to the new version of “Reflection”! I still remember watching the original music video at the end of the VHS of the animated Mulan lol.

Before listening to the new track, I expected her to even out-Christina herself. Nothing of the sort. She is singing like she has on all but the most recent record. I do agree with this quote though:

I'm excited to see if she'll be able to replicate Reflection live.

Realistically, don't expect what we've heard note-by-note from the new studio version of "Reflection" with what we'll get with the GMA performance.

While she doesn't lip or dub any vocals on her most recent tour / Vegas residency (with the exception of that long "Candyman" E5), it'll most likely be a dodged-note / variation on the melody situation. However, this was filmed a few days ago, so I'm sure the final product will be fine overall and they'll clean up the audio before air.

I'll gladly take an egg on my face if she kills it naturally. But after all this time, I know what to expect.

It was an unfounded rumor from a random website, however this happens almost every year with her regarding that award.

She sounded good today, but that entire performance was completely pre-recorded/lipped (so, egg on my face for the exact OPPOSITE of what I thought would happen). I don't even know the last time she actually performed to an entirely pre-recorded vocal? 2006-2007 maybe?

I did like the new runs she incorporated into LBT.

I like LB&T, but it just kind of lacks personality and feels like anyone could have sung it.

Do I think it's the better single to send to radio (AC/Hot AC) because of that? Absolutely. Accessible, easy melody, not oversung.

On that note - "Loyal Brave & True" is top 30 on AC. :)

Gloria Estefan did something similar a couple of weeks ago performing "Rhythm Is Gonna Get You" on GMA, almost like a very simple music video. It would probably not be ideal or practical technologically to have live vocals from remote locations, and not really possible to have a band perform.

Mi Reflejo is an underrated gem. The Spanish versions are seriously good (and lowkey iconic here in Latin America). And Pero Me Acuerdo De Ti is a career highlight for me.

“There’s a really funny, amazing story around this song. I think we were on the same label at the time. She reached out and was like, ‘Would you write something for me?’ And then it came through so many emails. What a voice! I know I could write something fire for her. So time passed and I hadn’t written the song yet. And [the label] was like, “Do you have anything for Christina?’ I remember I had just recently written ‘If I Ain’t Got You,’” she explained.

“I told my A&R at the time, ‘Let’s play her ‘If I Ain’t Got You.’ He said,
Are you f-ing crazy? We’re not giving her that song. Are you out your mind?’ [Laughs] I was like, ‘Why not? I’ll write a hundred more of those, it’s fine. I think she should hear it. I don’t really think it’s a big deal.’ But I thought, ‘Fine, I’ll go write another song.’ So I went off and wrote ‘Impossible.’ I went to cut it with her and I love how she sounded on it. It was such a cool vibe for us to be able to work together during those times. But I will never forget that I would have given away ‘If I Ain’t Got You.’ Isn’t that crazy? So that’s a good story.

“I cut the vocals with her because I produced everything. So it’s really important to be in the same space to just get all the energy. That was great. She sounded so good and she’s very special too,” she continued.
