If it is a Christmas performance, when is the last time she has done that? 2010 with Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas is the latest one I know of.
If it's a new song, I'm excited.

I watched the new Mulan last night. WHERE are those versions of "LBT" & "Reflection (2020)" with that epic orchestra that roll in the credits? They sounded incredible.

Highly doubt she's debuting a new song at late late night.

I'm not really optimistic about a new single to be honest, but with X you never really know. She could drop it on Friday and have the debut performance on Monday. Most people are consuming media digitally these days anyways, so whether it was on Seth's show or Jimmy Fallon's is kind of moot at this point.
Also, was in a YouTube rabbit hole and came across this performance. Absolutely smashed it. They did Pharrell dirty putting his parts with hers lolol.

Beyond bewildered at the lipping. I guess it’s nice to have an updated 2020 studio version of the song? Her tone is glorious and she looks great... but this is her second televised performance this year with pre-recorded vocals. I understand the circumstances we’re all facing, but too many artists have figured out how to make it work live in the last few months for that to be an excuse at this point.

The performance was good though pre-recorded. I liked that she did the lower octave of the descending scale at the end. I was hoping for the C7 note though

I didn't like that arrangement of the song at all. The performance overall was very disjointed to me. There were some very...odd chord changes and note choices. At least she looks good.

I don't think the arrangement was that dissimilar from the album version aside from some notes that she modified (and the lowered key which is expected at this point tbh). Her low notes have been her saving grace as of late.
Wish she had some backup vocals like the album version did. But yes, it was a bit clunky in places. The more I re-watch it, I think parts of it ARE live with an echo added and others lipped to a pre-recorded track.
Anyways, we'll see what 2021 has to bring. I'd love to hear a more R&B sound moving forward (we have begged for this since "Stripped" and kind of got some of it on "Liberation."). Top 40 is not happening and her voice lends her to this genre, why not give it a full blown shot?

She’s in a vocal class all by herself. Stunning.

I love her but she really has a unique talent for destroying a strong melody with her endless vocal runs and melisma. Just sing the damn song, hit the note and stick with it. It's The Christmas Song for God's sake.
