Yeah, clearly something was going on around that time. Worth noting she was just arrested for public intoxication, Matt was the one who got charged with DUI (they later dropped the charge). She seems like she's in a MUCH better place these days.

She's made it pretty clear lately that her story with The Voice didn't end up on such good terms for her personally, so something was definitely up. It's not really a time that she seems to feel so positive about. The album was just caught in the middle of the all trouble, so the lukewarm general response to the album definitely didn't help her feel motivated to promote an album for longer.
If she had been in a better place with the album itself and mentally, we could've wished for a better promotion strategy, but I do think abandoning it and focusing on mental stability seems to have been the better choice.

Lotus would have been a hit had it been released in place of Bionic. She definitely would have had a couple top ten hits with some of those tracks in 2010.

The Lotus era was such a disappointment and missed opportunity. Coming off the huge success of Jagger, she was well positioned for a comeback. And I remember she had pretty good hype when news of the new Max Martin banger were out and then when a snippet of f**k your body leaked. YB sounded like a song that could have bee fun for the summer, but the label took too long to take advantage of the hype. The single was supposed to be released in the summer, which would’ve been much better. And then with the hype of the leak it should’ve been released immediately, as it was still late August. Further, when the single was released it was in a PG version with no explicit version to be found. BIG bummer. And the absence of a performance WHILE SHE WAS IN THE VOICE was strange. The video was a bop, and very well received. I seriously think that more promo would’ve helped it a lot. Just a fool was another huge missed opportunity. People liked that track, but it was never sent for adds in pop, and no video was produced. She still scored another hit with Feel this moment! And then she didn’t capitalize it by releasing a 3rd single for the album. She released a fan video for LTBL, but that was it. She had 3 potential hits in her hands, so it was frustrating to see this as a flop era. She did record a performance of Your Body for the voice and then pulled it. All so strange what happened with that song. |

It's so weird to me to see that there has never been any kind of effort to make anything from MKOC to even start sparkling some streams and sales during xmas seasons. It seems to me after xmas music has been allowed to chart every year, it's a wonderful opportunity for lots of legendary acts to get some space on the charts again since it will be veeeery hard for her to have another song charting on the Hot100 anymore since she didn't seem to care enough about anything she's released post-Bionic.

It's so weird to me to see that there has never been any kind of effort to make anything from MKOC to even start sparkling some streams and sales during xmas seasons. It seems to me after xmas music has been allowed to chart every year, it's a wonderful opportunity for lots of legendary acts to get some space on the charts again since it will be veeeery hard for her to have another song charting on the Hot100 anymore since she didn't seem to care enough about anything she's released post-Bionic. I wonder if it had something to do with the negative reception her Christmas album had. Other than that, I have no idea why they wouldn't promote it during this time of year. |
