I love that Christmas concert special. I remember recording it on VHS as a kid and watching it all the time .

I have that special on DVD. I remember it was on TV the same night as Britney's There's No Place Like Home show, and I actually chose to watch Christina's instead.

Not sure if anyone was expecting it to, but The Voice performance of "We Remain" didn't result in an appearance on the Hot 100 or Bubbling Under charts.
"Say Something" continues to do real well, though.

I was thinking since she has had more success with featuring, duets, etc., with the Gaga remix coming, why she or the label would not try to push a single from her last album??

I hope she's working on a new album and is.ready to strike while the iron is hot. I can honestly see her having another huge era if she comes up with something inspired and not forced like lotus felt. Im just undecided what direction she should go in musically.

^^I know. :)
I asked a question in the song thread about this charting separately or will all points be combined?

It would only chart separately if there were a dramatic change in sound and/or lyrics. It could be one of those "Featuring R. Kelly or Christina Aguilera" credits.

The last album is dead and I cannot see them trying to push it again. However, it would make sense to have something ready to go soon from a new album. Like, first single maybe in Spring or something. I have learned to stop having ANY expectations of Christina taking advantage of good will, hype, publicity, or successful features though so we will probably get a new album in 2 years when she is no longer on the Voice and has absolutely zero profile or momentum from features

I don't think the features have any impact on her solo releases, though, as evidenced by "Moves Like Jagger." And even after "Feel This Moment," there wasn't much interest in "We Remain" (initially, and even postVoice performance. They're not going to rush-release a solo single while one of her collaborations is doing well. On a related note, "Say Something" will long outlast the cut-and-paste "Do What You Want" collabo.

No, I definitely think she should capitalize on her regained relevance and release the first single this spring. No one cared about "We Remain" cause it was a track from a soundtrack and barely promoted. I also think "Say Something" will have a different/bigger impact on her success than "Feel This Moment" or "Moves Like Jagger" did.
I'm hopeful we can regain our Legendtina of yore this year. :'(

Your Body came long after MLJ though, right? I remember it was supposed to be promoted by December and then it was released more than half a year afterwards. The song had potential but lyrics and the fact that her 'body' was not in the best shape didn't help. I saw We Remain as a non-mainstream song... Similar to Skyfall that didn't set fire to the charts or Almost home that had almost none impact.

We shouldn't dismiss a track just because it was a soundtrack singles- there are soundtrack singles that chart, after all. "We Remain" non-mainstream? It sounds pretty pop to me. Aguilera's just not in the best position, as a lead act. We'll see if that will change, or if the public remains indifferent, as has been shown for the last several years.

^^ No matter how you slice it, an artist scoring hits 15 years in their career is a quite an achievement... most artists would KILL to be in that position!

Moves Like Jagger is actually one of my main examples of them NOT taking advantage of hype and good will and features. They waited a YEAR after that song hit to release a single. A YEAR. She had a lot of good momentum that year with MLJ, The Voice, and people getting to know her personality more than ever before. But, NOPE let's wait a year later when she had gained even more weight, people were pissed off at her because of Tony Lucca, and all momentum from MLJ had died completely. We can't say that her features have no impact on her solo releases because they have frankly never tried to take advantage of her features while releasing solo singles. Even We Remain came months upon months after Feel This Moment had peaked and was a bland soundtrack song that I am not even sure was officially released (like, did it get released to radio and have hardcore promo/backing/video/multiple performances?) So, yeah, I have zero expectations for them even attempting to take advantage of good will, hype, features, or any momentum. It just isn't happening, ever And I have come to peace with it. I just want another great cd to add to Back to Basics and Stripped. If she gives me that I don't care if she ever has a solo hit again. I feel like she is finally in the right space to make another truly great cd happen too.

Yes, that helps. Again, I have no expectations of her suddenly being a solo success again, but I do think she has a shot just because the industry is unpredictable, she looks hot again, there have been crazier comebacks before, and she seems in a much better place that is making her a lot more likable right now. We will see. I mostly just want to see her release another great cd that she believes in though. She always put so much passion, care, and effort into her releases and I feel like we didn't see that with Lotus and even somewhat with Bionic too.

If she actually puts a concerted effort into promoting her next album AND tours, I think she will be able to see a mid-sized comeback; at the very least, she's capable of generating another top-20 solo hit and album sales of 500k-1m. She's still a household name after all.
