Say Something is exploding! I know pulse must be outraged. Ps: it's a co-lead billing. Deal with it. I'm so outraged I can't take it.

Say Something is exploding! I know pulse must be outraged. You are so right. I am absolutely FUMING I mean why couldn't Christina have jumped on a Michael Paynter song, then I would be right there with you stanning so hard it's painful to watch. Oh wait. On second thought, whatever. I don't actually care, I'm just going to go on "discrediting" Christina/this song like you've been doing to oh... just about every other song out there right now...

The overall airplay update covers a wider panel of stations, which should account for the audience difference. Plus, there could be airplay at other formats we don't know about yet because it's not top 50.

Yeah, including all stations, Dark Horse got +1.081 from pop and +0.736 from rhythmic, which leaved +0.02 from other formats (probably mostly HAC).

Do we know what caused "still into you" to fly back up in to the iTunes top 50?
And will it be enough to chart again on bb hot 100 Airplay is most likely around 23 million

Say Something is exploding! I know pulse must be outraged. No one is outraged. Cut the superior-that-thou act. Ps: it's a co-lead billing. Deal with it. No one cares. Do we know what caused "still into you" to fly back up in to the iTunes top 50? And will it be enough to chart again on bb hot 100 Airplay is most likely around 23 million It's benefited greatly from the Christmas Digital Rush. A large percentage of people that receive iTunes gift cards for Christmas gifts are teenagers and young adults. "Still Into You" is still fresh enough in people's minds and greatly appeals to that demographic, so it saw a really nice increase. However, I doubt it will return to the Hot 100. Its sales did increase well, but only enough to reach the top 50 on iTunes. It may or may not re-enter the Digital Songs chart, but that won't be enough to re-enter the main chart that also includes airplay and streaming. It should increase a bit in airplay from the year-end playlists on pop, but not a whole lot, and streaming will be relatively low.

Also why so many huge updates? It's not like Christmas music took up a lot of airplay dec 26...

AC. A great majority of stations on that format completely ditch their regular programming in favour of Christmas music, and once that's over it spends a whole week bouncing back.

In any event, "The Monster" looks like it will have another week at the top. This is going to bum me out! You see, my birthday is on Jan. 11, and every Hot 100 #1 that has had a chart date of Jan. 11 has always been an incumbent, and they've been pretty strong ones as well, consider these... - 1960 Marty Robbins "El Paso"
- 1964 Bobby Vinton "There! I've Said It Again"
- 1969 Marvin Gaye "I Heard It through the Grapevine"
- 1975 Elton John "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds"
- 1986 Lionel Richie "Say You, Say Me"
- 1992 Michael Jackson "Black or White"
- 1997 Toni Braxton "Un-Break My Heart"
- 2003 Eminem "Lose Yourself"
Ironically, the last time my birthday fell on a Saturday, Eminem had the No. 1 song in the US. Now it looks like he's going to do it again. I would love to have a birthday number one, and Pitbull/Ke$ha should be the ones to do it. Especially with all the New Year's parties on Tuesday, "Timber" would be perfect if the Top 40 stations aren't doing any year-end countdowns. I know it will eventually hit the top, but why not on my birthday? Anyways, I'll just leave it at that. It's like sharing a birthday with someone famous or an important day in history, so I hope you know where I'm coming from.

Still Into You is one of the best songs of 2013, in my top 5 for sure.
I think it's also one of their signature songs with very broad appeal.

That's the primary driver. I noticed it bounced right away.

I know it will eventually hit the top I really think Timber could easily miss #1. The Monster is beating it in streaming and airplay every week, and never too far behind in sales. This week is Timber's best chance, since the sales gaps between top songs widens on gift card week.

It irks me that this, along with March 7th, March 19th, April 2nd, April 29th, and May 6th, are the only dates that a song has never hit the top spot. I remember back in 2010 when Tik Tok became the first song to hit #1 on January 2nd. Further, it happened in 2012 when Sexy and I Know It became the first song to hit #1 on January 7th. We Are Young also became the first song to hit #1 on March 17th in 2012. I was hoping it would happen on January 11th this year.

"The Monster" was #1 when all versions were combined on iTunes when the tracking period started and lasted up until yesterday morning. I'd say around 550k, with "Timber" around 500k.

Also amazing that all those dates have never had a new number one, yet February 29th managed the feat in 1992 with Mr. Big's "To Be With You". It's a date that only comes around once every four years, then on top of that has to be on a Saturday, and THEN has to have a new number one song rise to the top!

Timber has a shot too! Anything could happen. Remember that Timber was number 1 since Dec. 20 on iTunes, and had a lead of 30% over the monster, then on Wednesday, the monster combined recovered the top but it only had 8% lead over timber, quickly timber recovered the top and it has been number 1 combined since Friday. I also checked Amazon and timber is also above TM since last week, so Amazon could make the difference. :)
