Mars has now earned three Hot 100 top 10s from each of his first three proper albums, becoming just the second male artist and sixth act overall to achieve the career-opening feat.
"Finesse" follows the 24K Magic title cut, which reached No. 4 on the Hot 100 in December 2016, and "That's What I Like," which topped the May 13, 2017-dated chart. (Third single "Versace on the Floor" peaked at No. 33 in September.)
Mars' debut LP, 2010's Doo-Wops & Hooligans, generated the twin four-week Hot 100 leaders "Just the Way You Are" and "Grenade" and the No. 4-peaking "The Lazy Song." 2012's Unorthodox Jukebox yielded two more No. 1s, "Locked Out of Heaven" (six weeks) and "When I Was Your Man" (one), and the No. 5 hit "Treasure." (Mars first released the EP It's Better If You Don't Understand in 2010.)
The only other acts with at least three Hot 100 top 10s apiece from each of their first three proper solo albums: Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Beyonce, Lady Gaga (including 2010's The Fame Monster) and the only male before Mars to earn the honor, and the first artist overall to do so, in 1982-86, Lionel Richie.

I love Bruno as a talent and have from the very beginning, but I voiced the reasons this project didn't really click with me when it first came out, and it hasn't changed. To give the difference for me from the previous album and this; when I listened to UJ, I was so interested in seeing where he would go because he had shown himself to excel with several different styles. After I heard 24kM, I just knew that I wanted it to remain a singularity in his discography right away. I never once thought it was close to a bad effort in the slightest (and 1989 through 1993 is probably my favorite 5 year period in music ever), but it always left me cold as a whole. I'm just never going to be here for music very consciously styled to sound like popular music from an era that has passed ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ . |

I'm always the weird one because I actually LOVE what people call "dated music" - if I liked it 10-20 years ago, there's a guarantee I'll like it now. I'm in love with his voice so he's in that rare class with Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey to me in that I don't care what he sings. He has an ear for melody that is unparalleled in music today. |

I want more. Same here. What I do admire about 24K Magic is that he was attempting to do something different and less generic from today's artists. It would be very boring if he made an album that sonically sounded like all the other hits from today. I'm really happy that he made a resurgence of the New Jack Swing era with 24KMagic because I am honestly tired of hearing the redundancy of trap sounding tracks. |

I just can't wrap my head around what he already achieved with this album. When it was released, as many I've expected it to be a respectful attempt to channel the dacade in music that shaped him the most, with melodies and attention to detail that Bruno is known for. Honestly that would be good enough. I expected 24k Magic to have the least longevity out of his albums, bc they weren't obvious single choices that radio would support. Damn, JUST LOOK AT HIM NOW... Since the release, and the time when Bruno started to mean something to urban audience, I knew it's gonna be a very important album in his body of work. I feel that if he managed to be embraced by different genre without losing POP... sky is the limit for him, and it only makes me more excited for his next album.
