I was referring to her not making hits by the time she became a complete public mess and that was after the My Love is Your Love era. Prior to that she was still in good voice and could function as a successful artist. Fast forward to 2002 and she was out of it.

I can't recall if I've ever seen someone crater so fast after such an extended period of success. Even though there were rumors and jokes already coming during the late 90s, the difference between say, early 2001 and early 2003 was almost night and day. This isn't the first time I've heard these things about Bruno since the campaign rolled out, but with how much he generates, he'll either quietly check into rehab, OD and go if he survives, or it'll just go on as long as he's able to record and tour. Justin Timberlake has looked powdered out for at least five years now and people still pay to see him even without a big album. Bruno's lower profile helps this too. It's like if Pink had been dashing through the snow on a double nostril sleigh in the late 00s, as long as she did her job, most wouldn't care because there's limited interest in them personally. |

Maybe I misunderstood but I thought this was Jay D83's whole point - that people turned a blind eye to Whitney's problems when she was churning out hits, but then when those same problems became the reason the hit parade finally ended, the "fans" clutched pearls and mocked her for being a crackhead while the people around her either scattered or enabled her addiction. A big part of the reason LA Reid got fired from Arista was b/c he kept funneling money into Just Whitney instead of intervening or shelving her until she got her shit together, and then she crashed and burned on his watch and the label's dime. It's irrelevant what decade that happened in. In any decade, our society has had a really fucked up habit of prioritizing a person's talent over a person's personal well-being, and then blaming the celebrity for failing to maintain a well-being that we never gave a shit about when they were entertaining us. Obviously none of us have any idea if it's that deep with Bruno, and I certainly hope it's not. But he does obviously still use and I totally understand why Jay or anyone else would rather not make light of it. We've lost a lot of greats too soon that way. |

This is what happens when you stumble upon conversations that you were not apart of darlin. We were talking about Bruno and his drug use and my stance is let him get as high as he wants as long as he is putting out hits. Some1 mentioned whitney in the 80's and 90's and said "look what happened" as in by the time she DIED. Clearly in the 80's and 90's she still made hits, so her drug use was irrelevant to me. just give me my hits. PERIOD! I SAID WHAT I SAID.U cant check me boo. |

LOL Who the f**k is that? A Harlem fashion designer. He launched a line with Gucci last year. Edit b/c this response makes Dapper Dan seem like an up-and-comer and that just won't do lol. He was a big hip-hop/streetwear designer back in the '80s, but he eventually got shut down over his illegal use of high-end logos in his work. He's recently experienced a renaissance of sorts which led to the partnering with Gucci. |
