Re-visiting this album and it really is perfectly assembled. There is not one sound or vocal run out of place. I can't hate on something this meticulously crafted.

Yes of course, congrats to him on all of his awards. I love that he gave credit to Babyface, JJ&TL, and Teddy Riley. Geniuses!
The real highlight for me was him giving some choreography during the Finesse performance! Not just his usual one two step. But that breakdown was what I needed. His dancing is so sexy. I need more!

Good Lord, this tour is already so long and massive. I can't believe he's adding another leg. But if he does, I hope he swings by Pittsburgh again.

I expected some backlash when Bruno swept the Grammys but thankfully it was short lived and nothing major.

I expected some backlash when Bruno swept the Grammys but thankfully it was short lived and nothing major. It thought about it for a second, but I'm not surprised nothining important happened. Just some lousy attempts from people who hated on him before he swept and will hate on him no matter what he does like... The Guardian. Ever since the noms, ppl were rather accepting of him being the potential big winner of the night, but after his CBS special... R&B sweep, and SOTY/AOTY wins became a given. Even though he was expected to loose ROTY, he was always the one to upset Despacito. But in all honesty, he's been winning big since November, so few ppl were delusional enough to think he wouldn't do the same at the Grammys. Several things he achieved that night: Bruno is the first artist to win 3 R&B field Grammys in a night since John Legend & The Roots in 2011 No R&B album has won AOTY since The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill in 1999. Bruno is the first male artist to sweep the General Field since Eric Clapton in 1993. Bruno is the first artist to win Best Pop Vocal Album and Best R&B Album. Bruno's been winnig everything he was nominated for since 2016 = 9 Grammys....and major aknowledgment from music icons MY FAVS https://instagram.com/p/BeizYwQghEL My heart skips a little everything I see him chillin' with Jimmy Jam. __________ He's tour is a gift that just keeps on givin'. He just broke attendance record in Mexico:

So its that time again. Few of Mars haters got all riled up, thought today is the good day to drag him. It is NOT. Ppl has no chill and Bruno is steadily trending on Twitter all day long bc they are defending him like crazy. Even Charlie Wilson himself stepped in:

A year later, this Black man still feels that 24K Magic was basically my favorite album of 2017. It just brought me so much musical joy from start to finish.

James Gunn nailed it. If you looked at all the tweets, 95% of them were people defending Bruno. Much ado about nothing.

My 2 cents: 1) Someone whose's about to drop covers album has a lot of nerve to call Bruno a karaoke artist. I know it's a taugh business, every 3 seconds of relevancy count, but c'mon now. 2) I refuse to bless with any attention an emotionally unstable fool that says bullshit like dying was the best thing Aaliyah could do for her career that she would celebrate if Bruno died. So, go figure. Such people are a joke. It must really suck not to have a life. All she proved was that urban support for Bruno is anything but a fluke, and that no disrespect directed at him will go unnoticed, or will be tolerated. So... congrats. Mars' haters got clowned... again. There's nothing to see here. Charlie Wilson said it all. Perfect F... you for the haters...

I can see where the controversy originated from and the detractors do have a good point. His album was a retread of 90's r&b/soul and had he taken the opportunity to take that inspiration and then carve out his own interpretation or sound, no one would have any issues with his success and him winning album of the year.
But as it stands today, he is getting awarded for the exact same sound that was not highly regarded by the academy back in the 90s.

He didn’t compel the the voting members to not vote for new jack swing in the 90s, nor did he particularly play the campaign game for his wins this year. Critique the establishment. Don’t come for someone who isn’t even the best case study for this industry inequity. It makes a mockery of the actual phenomenon of black music being stolen/successful/praised with a non-black (read: white) face.

Teddy Riley spoke with Essence Tuesday to share his thoughts on the artist who dedicated his 2018 Grammy win to him back in January. For Riley, he had nothing but love and respect for Mars' work, noting his success in a genre that Riley, Babyface, Jimmy Jam, and Terry Lewis pushed forward works only to "put us even more in the game and help to sustain us."
Riley says he is grateful for Mars giving back through his talents. "It's a known fact that God blesses us to bless others, and then sometimes, you get the blessing. But, I'm more of a giver, I like to give. So, him giving....sometimes we don't understand receiving a gift. But, the most incredible gift to be given, for me, is someone paying homage. So, I feel wonderful about it."

Some say, this tweet was also inspired by this ''controversy'':
