Glad DIL took off the way it did, but I'm very annoyed by how they majorly fumbled XO. That song was created to be a hit and didn't deserve to fail like it did. The mistake was in releasing two songs at once. Sony was still operating in that ugly, segregated 2011-2012 mentality about simultaneously servicing one song to pop and another to urban -- as if one song couldn't serve both. I hope this becomes a lesson for artists/labels to heed about doing that. One single at a time. DIL should have been the across the board first single, followed by XO. I hope they still can do something to salvage the song later on because it's a shame for a song that screams 'single' like it does to fall by the wayside indefinitely. Attach it to a commercial or movie, or something.

Attach it to a commercial or movie, or something. I don't think the mistake was releasing two songs at once - the error was releasing a quotable duet between two major acts backed by a fun video and a Grammy performance and expecting it not to entirely overshadow a pretty sub-par song by comparison. That's supported by the fact XO has been released as the worldwide single (no dual release) and is still being outperformed by DIL. It's just a much better song, all round.

I'm hating how the Pop stations are cutting the song off after JAYs verse. Weak sauce. I'll stick to Urban playing the full track minus a part of the intro.

Some Pop stations edits for this song out here are awful. They start off w/the bridge into Jay's verse, shifts to Bey's first verse & just end the song ![:-X](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/lipssealed.png)

Considering the beat drops at 1:36 I don't blame some stations for butchering the song. The label should have definitely released an official radio version by now or push the Diplo remix if they're too lazy to do some basic edit.

There was never a guarantee that this would blow up like it did on pop especially with how fickle pop radio has been toward Beyonce the past several years. Keep in mind that her last major hit in this format was in 2010. Sony just wanted to play it safe and send something out that would have a decent chance of becoming a hit here. It just so happened that Drunk surprised all of us and totally overshadowed XO not only on Pop but WW. Still adore that song though.

"Partition" was taking off at Urban for over a month before it was announced that Sony was pushing it as the next single.

This should smash on Pop and reach top 10 at least to pave the way for her greatest and biggest song ever
