This is this decade's "Take Me Out". There's a reason it's one of my biggest #1s ever.

This will be the "safe and sound" of 2014. If you're just referring to "Safe and Sound"'s run on Alternative, then sure, it may be possible. But to cross over on pop and become one of the biggest overall hits of the year? Highly doubtful. I think we may have both underestimated this xD Hell, it could even be BIGGER than S&S depending on the push it gets!

what if they become one hit wonders like capital cities
nah, they actually got really good second and third single options, already mentioned "I'm only joking", but also "hey I don't know"

Looks like with the impending CHR push for Kongos it's going to re-take #1 from Walker for a little while before Bastille and The Black Keys can catch up. It's back up to a new spin peak after falling a little bit last week.

It appears any song that talks about sex or getting drunk....goes pop. I hope they don't last on chr as they really don't fit in with what's in the top 15 over there.

This is a weird song to crossover to pop. Too rock-y for pop, imo.

Imagine Dragon's sound was eerily similar to the dance infused hip-hop going on there. This song other than what its singing about makes no sense on that format. some pop fanatic kind of got snarky with me about my view on it crossing over when I commented on the mediabase countdown thread, saying when they like a good song, they like a good song......Exactly what hip hop music is a good song lately in the last almost decade?

I think honestly the CHR stations are wanting something different trying to get people to bite.

This song is catchy and has a good beat, I guess that's enough of a reason to send it to pop? lol I saw that comment, whoever posted it is a certified Chump.

I somehow used this song in a Spanish presentation about cueca music because it had an accordion in it.

How did this song do on Pop? Did it have an impact?
And I didnt know "headstrong" crossed over, that song seemed too heavy for pop.

Rap/Hip-Hop was always more popular among my friends and classmates when I was growing up than rock. There was always a fair amount of people who I shared music interests with though. I graduated high school in 2002, so obviously things are probably way different now in what teenagers listen to. Many college kids change their musical interests though I've found to new lighter and classic rock as they get older.
I just find it amusing when come across kids I knew in Middle School during the mid-late 90s that listened to 2Pac, Jay-Z, Diddy (is that still his name?), Biggie, Dr. Dre, Snoop, etc now have bands like Dave Matthews, Guster, Jack Johnson, etc as their favorite music.

I wish rock music could become popular again. It's a rarity to find someone who still listens to bands like Avenged Sevenfold.
