I wish rock music could become popular again. It's a rarity to find someone who still listens to bands like Avenged Sevenfold. Really? I know a ton of casual listeners who listen to A7X. Same casual listeners that dabble in 80's and 90's metal as well 00's hard rock mixed with some pop music. Seether would be closer to something casual music listeners wouldn't be interested in these days.

When I went through undergrad I literally could not talk about music with anyone, maybe a little about Linkin Park here and there, but that was pretty much it.

I have a couple of friends in my B-Comm graduating class that are into metal and stuff haha. One likes more of the radio-friendly stuff he hears on Sirius XM, the other is basically Jamie's (jvandyck87) doppelganger in regards to music tastes.

I know one kid who likes Nirvana and RHCP. He fanboys hard for them.
I shoved Tool and Alice into his ass though.
He's still 14.
And don't get me started on the scene kids,

Actually one of my college roommates was into rock music, and there was one or two more friends who also seemed to like current rock, but that's just two/three people. All my other friends were either into pop, rap, or classic rock, none of which I'm a fan of.

I have plenty of friends into rock music, new and old, but also including alt, EDM, and rap. It also helps that I shove Deftones down the throats of everyone I meet, usually to good reception.

Yeah, but people think emo means scene bands like Sleeping Wit Sirens or Pierce the Veil. METAL IS NOT EMO, for chrissakes

Anyone who thinks Tool is emo should be shot. Tell it to my whole school. I remember wearing a Tool shirt to school once and someone in my class said Tool sucked. I died a little inside that day.

I remember when 10,000 Days came out and I didn't really get Tool yet, and I complained when Jambi was released as a single that it wasn't "catchy" enough.
I got pics of the new asshole they tore out of me if you'd like.

you gotta be kidding, right? You're actually in a good crowd hating that pop crap. Name one redeeming quality today's Pop music has? Pop music is shit nowadays and basically made for 12 year olds. I'm actually glad the Pop acts that I like (Demi Lovato, for example) don't do particulalry well on B.B. but songs like "Wiggle", "Blurred Lines" Gungman Style" or whatever that's called. LMAFO, yeah, real quality music you'll be passing down to your kids someday.
Anyway, This had a good run. I'm tired of it now and I don't like seeing it on Pop charts iether. Makes me think its being viewd as a joke or "the moments "Rock" song"

It'll the next "Rock" song will be "Stolen Dance" or "Riptide"
Probably both. I'll predict both will hit top 10 BBhot100 before 2014 ends.

I wouldn't say pretend to like pop music but maybe expand your palette a bit. I like a little bit of every genre and even some of the generic and overproduced pop music is catchy.
I also find it extremely hard to believe that there's absolutely no one in your school that listens to rock music.

have you interviewed all 850 people about their music tastes? that would be impressive.

My school was pretty varied with all the rock, country, rap, pop, and EDM lovers that went there.

No but I can tell just by their attitude and what they talk about Try to stop assuming what people are like based on what you just see. Also, try to find something positive to say about every song you hear. Actually, find something positive to say about every thing and situation you encounter. Avoid saying something is absolute garbage or shit or at least give a decent explanation as to why something is garbage or shit. Apply this to real world stuff, and you should find yourself becoming happier with life.

My life is garbage or shit because... I don't wanna go there. But I can assume what people like based on how they act.
