Right. Lambs know that Ariana got her start covering Mariah on YouTube and then, the minute Mariah didn't acknowledge her, all of a sudden, Mariah mysteriously vanished from her influences and it was all Imogen Heap and Madonna ONLY. I mean, I'm glad she returned to the flock, but I haven't forgotten and Mariah probably hasn't either, deep down. As for that pic with the two ponytails, those are both Ariana. It's one of Ariana's alternate album covers for Eternal Sunshine.

Mariah definitely put Ariana in "I don't know her" territory for a bit; remember that shady answer on Watch What Happens Live where Andy asked her about Ariana and she said she doesn't listen to pop music? I think that was even after Ariana had referenced "Touch My Body" on "Into You." Ariana was always nice toward Mariah. Ariana did stop mentioning Mariah for a bit, but between Mariah shading her and Ariana trying to carve out her own identity I don't blame her tbh. She never said anything bad from what I recall, just mentioned other influences.

Ariana was then in that celebrity video for "AIWFCIY" in 2020, and Mariah praised her on social media for singing the ad-libs, so something changed around that time. The next year brought us the "Oh Santa" remix.

My gripe is just that it likely won't count for the Hot 100. I dunno, radio is mid enough for the single that maybe sales and streaming could counterbalance? It's an uphill battle.

Why wouldn’t it count?

For the same reason she never got a Hot 100 credit for the "Unforgettable" remix or the "Big Energy" remix - the remix version has to get more points than the original for that to be the credited version. The difference here is that the original version isn't currently doing all that well where the others were top 10 hits when the remixes came out, so it does leave more room for the remix to get the chart credit for at least one week if it sells and streams well.

Maybe I'll listen to the Ariana song more than once now that MC will be on it. I wish she hopped onto a better song, though. So, I agree with all the sentiments about this one.

And on top of that she started cozying up to Nicki right after American Idol. I'm glad Covid brought some sense back into her and prolly a heart-to-heart conversation with Gaga about which Legends to respect.

Out of the celebrity lambs Tamar will always be the most loyal. Look at Beyoncé and what she did as well.
