It has long been a tactic to release albums on a day/week with little competition. Release dates have even been moved to avoid competition. It isn't a strategy Beyonce or her team created. I know that, but now they won't need to set a date anymore. They will wake up one morning and feel like they could be #1 so they will release it right away. Exactly, it saves artists the trouble from even bothering with setting a release date, so you don't end up like Mariah and have rabid fans breathing down your neck about release dates.

I'm actually kind of glad "The Art of Letting Go" made it on the album. Though it didn't receive a lot of love, I like the song and think it's a refreshing change of pace for Mariah. Not really thrilled about "YME" making the cut. I liked it more than "TAOLG" at first, but it doesn't offer anything new.
Normally I like 12-13 track albums, but in this case, I'm hoping we get more like 15-16 songs, as we're already so familiar with 3 of them.

Monday would only make sense. This Monday. This era is getting some buzz because of the secrecy thing. but in 2-3 weeks, unless they do promo, no one will care. Release the album Monday, Mimi

That photo, with no text on it, would make an amazing album cover. It's a great picture.

Thanks for posting the article Jay D. :)
I thought it was "lambily," rather than "lambly." Unless it's just typos. And BB also wrote YM as Eternal (You're Mine). Odd.

He also said TEOM came out in 2004 and was 4x platinum, both wrong. We all know it came out in 2005 and is 5 or 6x platinum.

I really like The Guardian article. She comes across extremely likable, self aware and her sense of humor is well framed.

"If you're going to round, round down!" The Guardian article wasn't perfect, either, though, reporting 12m for Emancipation when it's more like 10. In that instance, though, she'd be glad with a higher number.

What a complete and total disaster this era has been.. Too early to say that since the album hasn't been released yet. The "era" may have at least 3 (new) singles to be promoted through the Summer and Fall.

Still in the studio, she tweeted: Mariah Carey โ Mariah Carey 11m Studio break! Ezekiel 1:28 Perfect timing. I was gonna get mad but then it dawned on me...she's coming with a last minute 'song of the decade'. Come on MC bring it!

At this point it doesn't matter if she is in the studio or not. With all digital releases she can be in the studio the day before and still release it the next day. This is a good thing now. Fresh material means we aren't going to get a 5 year leftovers from a forgotten session.

With her Ezekiel 1:28 reference, she must be getting her church on for this song.

I know it was suppose to be a tear jerker moment but I got my life and laugh from Mariah performing "Looking In" live in NYC. That Youtube clip when she starts crying stops singing for a minute and then DRAMATICALLY breathes in and out and is like conductor let's continue with the music and starts wailing her hands. Oh what a scene! Loved it. She is soooo fuking over the top!

And ONE more thing before I bid you adieu cause a girl need to find someone willing to get up inside it. If we going to be nitpicky The Emancipation of Mimi is CLOSER to 12 million than it is 10 million but regardless like you say in your signature about "important" people in music that era is still one of the most talked about and important and successful era of all diva, one of. Cause even 2014 everybody, they mama and they mama kids and they mama kids kids know all about that comeback and TEOM. Just for the record cause it was important and its special moment and more recent than some others have managed, just saying. Xoxo

I am SO glad Mimi looked to her catalog for inspiration for this project. Honestly that more than anything else in the Billboard article got me hyped.
Also I always loved Looking In.
