The album title is less annoying than the f**king covers. I mean not only do they look more digitally created out of thin air than the majority of Avatar. But the lame superimposing of her in front of these Windows XP wallpapers. It's just tasteless, crass and completely lacking in any kind of artistic vision. I think that's her point. She just doesn't give a fuck and is kind of massive troll. Oddly enough I affiliate with her so much. :'( |

i wish the title had only been "ME. I am Mariah" in keeping with the caps/lowercase on the drawing, and that the drawing was the main cover. That + the YT video reveal explaining it are A+++++++ and simplistic but deeply rooted at the same time. even as a back cover, there's something simultaneously very cheerful and yet melancholy about the choice. like maybe something is or was going on while recording this album that had her longing to go back to that time when she was that little diva-in-the-making without a care or heartache in the world. that photo - maybe not even the photo itself so much as choosing it as artwork - it's a story and i wish she would have put that story right up front instead...and not just b/c it's intriguing to me but also b/c i think that childhood photo would have gotten her more buzz than the typical diva pose on the actual cover will. i think it would have felt like a different kind of quirky from her.
it's been a minute since i've really checked for her seemingly obligatory shoutout to middle/high school memories 80s covers on each album but I am really looking forward to "One More Try." I love that song and I think she'll sound amazing on it.

She could've gained all her respect back if that kid drawing was the actual front cover! For the first time in her whole career it would've been less about the image and more about the art.
She could've still used those pics inside the album booklet but alas, it wasn't meant to be.

This is just like Memoirs and Emancipation, "The Elusive Chanteuse" would've been crazy/interesting enough on its own. The "Me...I Am Mariah" is just doing the ABSOLUTE most. How can you not love Mariah Carey.
Also petition to know what other titles she was choosing between...or maybe this is just a conglomeration of all of the possible choices.

That drawing was perfection!! Really Had she just chosen the drawing as a cover, this would've been her best cover ever IMO! The title as part of the drawing would've sufficed too, and been self explanatory. The expanded title sounds whacky though. Similar to the lyrics of TAOLG  The cover of the standard is blah. Another ultra photoshopped image of her showing her curves? At least these time she doesn't show amorphous boobs. The deluxe is better to me, with her more natural look. But again too basic. Anyway. Cookoo title and all, I'm anyway excited for new music. If OMT is a George Michael cover, and Mariah doesn't use the tired WBT/DFAU/IWKWLI sound, then this could be a GREAT moment! Hope a new killer single is released soon. I downloaded YM but need something better now :)) |

I like the album title and the cover. The cover has elements of several of her prior album covers including Emotions, Butterfly, Rainbow, The Emancipation Of Mimi, and Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel.

I actually really like the title. It's an acknowledgement of her ridiculous image. The cover is a mess, but it does work in a ridiculous, tongue-in-cheek manner, and that's what an "elusive chanteuse" is. The cartoon drawing would have made a perfect cover actually.

And I dunno what the problem is with the album art and title. All of her album titles are childish. (I DID laugh at "the elusive chanteuse" though.) And she went with the same artists who created her EMANCIPATION cover art. She was just as animated then as she is now.
