Imagine if this was the second single. I think it would have done better than BB. She missed so many opportunities with E=MC² :'( True, but ISIL was not one of them. The hits waiting to happen were never released at all. Like Side Effects, For the Record, and of course her 19th #1 that never was, Migrate. I think the second single should have been Side Effects, honestly. Cruise Control would have made a brilliant single too, with its like...3 different equally catchy hooks.

Migrate was pretty much the dopest s**t around back in '08. How in the hell it wasn't the lead single, let alone even released, remains absolutely mind boggling to me. It was one of the most surefire hits she ever had.

Just a few more weeks and months and years of playing what singles should've been released or weren't released of MIMTEC no need to go back to 2008.
but hey while we already on this endless road might as well throw it out there that I will not forgive them for not releasing the fun, "More Than Just Friends" of her last lp but whatever onwards and upwards !!!

I'm sure, but Migrate remains one of the biggest fuckups I've ever witnessed in terms of missed singles (not just talking about Mariah singles either).

I think she looks wonderful. Her smile looks genuine, and it's nice to see a picture where she isn't trying so hard to pose. Isn't that photo a few years old, though?
Regarding the ISIL performance, I remember it was a period where her performances were very stiff. Much as I loved the music and Mariah's general look, her performances hit a low point that year. I thought she damaged her voice for good until the "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)" performance in December of 2008.

YAAASSS for the MTJF love. It was one of the only bops for me on that album. Definitely "Migrate" and "For The Record" for the win, though. How they could cock that up I just don't know.

Yeah. I posted earlier about the ISIL performance from memory. But when I watched it back, the climax HAD to be lipped. Good on her Beyonceesque lipping though. She should put more effort into lipping whenever she does.

Ok, I am going to have to throw a bit of shade here for a minute. Why is she putting out better magazine cover photos than her album cover photos? Team Natural and Team Smile can make a reappearance on her album covers anytime they like.

If that ending was lipped, it was to a different studio recording, which wouldn't surprise me. I know that song note for note and adlib for adlib (one of my all-time favorite Mariah songs, actually) and there were definitely differences, albeit minor. Much better than those dreadful and blatantly lipped WBT climaxes though, THAT'S for sure.

I would say there was a good chance that this was fully live. Like you said, if anything was lipped it was the end.

Rule of thumb: If you have to question whether it was lipped or not, then the shit was lipped.
I'm most excited to hear Dedicated, as James Fauntleroy's writing has never done me wrong. My biggest fear for this album is that there are bunch of hits on there that are miles better (commercially) than Triumphant/TAOLG/YM, and they don't get the single treatment because she wasted most of her promo/budgets/label resources on the other singles. I wonder if she'll be afforded 2 or 3 more singles to support the album. Just a few more weeks!

To be honest nothing on Charmbracelet made me love or hate it, it was just middle of the road blah. The one Mariah album that I cant stand majority of the songs is tbh 'Rainbow" which I personally find to be her most juvenile, annoying and unneeded record. The saving grace is there a few songs that I love ( Heartbreaker, Crybaby for example)....but some of the worst of Mimi is on that album. Her voice sounds like it was marinaded in liquor too. Even her becky, california teen bopping fashion sense on that album wasn't for me. For me, that's when it all went downhill. I think that was the start of this I wanna be sexy phase she's stuck in now.

I know we love Mimi, but the CD is going to flop. And those who think it's not might as well accept it now and move on. She could promote the whole cd on all of the channels and the album would still flop sadly.

Mariah has always been sexy (no doubt about it) but then she went a bit overt.

If one's commercial expectations are realistic, they will not let the performance affect their enjoyment of the product. And if it flops, it flops. Nothing anyone can do about it. Just be grateful the new album is finally coming and, hopefully, enjoy the finished product. It's obviously been a labor of love for her.

Miss Cleo called and she wants her job back. Fortunately, there is always room for one more psychic friend. Anyway, that is a great magazine cover. I read the story the other day and am gonna try to find a copy of the mag while in Sydney.

Apparently in an interview, Mariah said that Q-Tip isn't happy that the song they worked on together was tinkered with and not the original version. I hope this isn't a case of Mariah not leaving well enough alone.

But then just recently (in March) JD tweeted a pic of him and QTip in the studio working on the song. So maybe all is well now.

Rihanna is leaving Def Jam this short under Steve Bartles so you know somethings up!! They all talk and I'm sure Jay and Rihannna discussed the lack of drive and potential Def Jam has. This has me very worried for Mariah's project (as if I didn't know there was trouble with the label before).
The only silver lining I can see (maybe) is that Mariah is now their biggest female pop star and maybe they will be forced to make this record a smash hit (if they can with their resources) because if they loose Mariah then they can forget about it.

I'm so ready for this album!!
I love how for the deluxe version, they've played with the song order to keep the "Me. I Am Mariah...The Elusive Chanteuse" as the final track. It always irks me a little when they tack on the bonus songs to the end of her albums, because Mariah always has very strong, definite endings to her albums that I think are there to leave you feeling a certain way (Outside, FLAB, IWYW). For me, it detracts from that when it moves straight on to a bonus track or a remix.
(I know I could just change the play order in iTunes, but I still like to listen to albums the old-fashioned way - from beginning to end).
It's nice that they've done something different this time and kept the ending the same, as it was meant to be heard.

I know this song doesn't get a lot of love (and I'm not saying it was single-worthy) but I always had a soft spot for Inseparable. I liked how she used her voice in the song.

Broken record alert...Memoirs, as a whole, remains my favorite Mariah album, hits or no hits. I can listen to it from start to finish, without ever wanting to skip a song. Granted, there are songs I like more than others but, for a pure R&B contemporary album, it really doesn't get much better. I love Inseparable. Actually, I pretty much feel the same way about E=MC2.

No way in hell are they paying for ads like that all over times square and don't have a JAM for her to release Monday to keep the momentum going. Yup, fans that are not blinded know that fact.
